- Land Rover's wireless software update capability is an exciting innovation that keeps your vehicle at the forefront of automotive technology. Updates can be made anywhere in the world and at a time that suits you, without the need to visit a Retailer. To benefit from the wireless software update feature, please ensure that you either have a SIM card inserted in your vehicle or that it has a Wi-Fi connection. Software updates must then be turned on in your vehicle to maximise your driving experience*.
*Software updates are auto-enabled for vehicles operating on InControl Touch Pro version 19A3 onwards.
We live in Sri Lanka and we had a 2019 Range Rover autobiography P400e LWB, the vehicle didn't start and it said we needed to update the software. In Sri Lanka there is only one Land Rover service centre in the whole country, so we had to tow the vehicle to the service centre and let the officials update it for us. Imagine we were in the middle of a jungle in an off-road track, we would've died.
That sucks
Oh man. I don’t even have that option to “check for update” on my 2018 Range Rover sport. While the car is fantastic, the controls and user interfaces are not aligned with the quality of the car. They are rather slow and somewhat buggy.

go to the dealer and they will update it to the latest software, after they do you will unlock the ability to receive software updates and also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for free

Does not work in my Velar. UK just get no update available & telematics one just spins forever.

Same thing in Ontario Canada. I am having problem with Bluetooth and music i thought update will fix this problem. But no luck.
No luck with my 2019 Velar. I received an email from Land Rover that update is available but it just spinning and looking for an update not reaching anywhere.

Worked well on my MY17 Discovery
It takes forever to update and install over 4G. When connected to home wifi, the update is faster. I noticed the infotainment system lagged to the point of being useless while the car was in motion/operation when it tried to automatically update. The screen went blank 😬
You could also use your phone hotspot, but would need to keep the phone near the window (with the window down) for the best reception. Once the update finishes downloading, the car need to be turned off and left alone for half an hour (or if not possible a couple of minutes) and the software will install within 5-10 minutes after the next startup. It informs you that the system may become unresponsive during the update before dowbloading the update

Do I need to update land rover discovery 2017 for map or software?
Does not work! It just spins on the screen for ever and ever. With 4G and connected to my high speed fibre optic wifi in my home. The system tells me that an update is needed but clearly cant do it OTA

Get in touch with your dealer, you probably have a 2018MY car, the OTA software updates only got enabled after 2019MY

Is it possible for Range Rover sport 2014 I am trying to connect my phone but it’s not possible by any way and I tried all the ways of you can offer help I’ll be glad thanks.
No, Range Rover Sport 2014 does not have the 10 inch Touch Pro Duo system

Can you update the Engine Computers (i.e.) Configuration Files using the Wireless methodology?

I'm a professional Asian, Domestic, & European Automotive Technician. I specialize in Diagnostics. I Program and Code Engine Computers etc. We use WiFi to Download the latest software updates to Dealer Level Scan Tools. Out of necessity we are adding EEPROM Programming because all Scan Tools don't have the VIN Write Capability.

just got a 2020 Velar Dynamic 17 speaker meridian upgrade,with infotainment and Apple car play. HUGE disappointment. NO way to play videos,No you tube through browser.NO HDMI port for 19-20 unless you get TV package. They purposely changed the software. Unable to find any interface or nav tool to override. Any ideas?

I wonder why you would need to watch videos through the HDMI port in a car. Pretty sure it's blocked when in motion anyway

That was easy. Just connect my RR Sport to my house WIFI and updated it in the Garage. Works.
did you get apple car play after doing the update?

No update here. I think there’s minimum required version for supporting wireless upgrade.
Yes, its from the 2019 software version onwards, you are probably on the 2017 or 2018 version

I don’t have the button to turn Software Update on/off on my 2018 RR Sport. When I tap “Check for update” under Vehicle software, it just spins for several minutes and times-out. Infotainment software updates just fine. Any ideas how to update Vehicle software?

You have an older software. OTA only came from 2019MY vehicles, get in touch with your dealer so they can update it to a 2019MY software, after which you can perform OTA updates at home

The infotainment updates just fine but the vehicle software just keeps spinning and spinning writing “checking for update”

If the update downloads but doesn't install, shut off the car lock it and leave it alone for 30 mins. Then start the car and the new update will install in 5-10 minutes. If only the vehicle software keeps spinning, it depends on which country you are in. Which country are you from?
@@davidhall3747 Could you elaborate? The Vehicle Software on my Velar also doesn't update, while the infotainment software does update.

@@ikbev There may be market specific restrictions applied tot he vehicle software in order to comply with local regulations. So to update your vehicle software you would need to contact a Land Rover dealer
