      You can do it with the alternator in place, but it certainly makes access a lot easier with it out of the way.

    Здравствуйте. Какой пробег у машины? Какая причина замены катализатора?

    How long does it takes to change de katalysator? From begin to end?

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  Год назад

      About an hour if all the nuts and bolts behave themselves.

    Hii please help me. The interior of my c1 smells like burned oil or gas. I checked everything. There is no leak anywere whatsoever, but the smell keeps coming when i turn the vent on. What the hell is happeninggg

      @DABDIY  2 месяца назад +1

      Have you checked all around the outer surface of the catalytic converter? It’s not uncommon for them to crack and leak exhaust gasses.

      @@DABDIY i cant find anything. But when i ride for 15 minutes and pop the hood open. I get this strong burned fuel/oil smell. Its coming from the catalystic converter. Because the other locations near the motor dont smell so strong. Is it maybe better to buy a new catalystic ?

      @atoyran6584 it might be time for a new cat, but don’t quote me on that.

    Is there anything you can do to stop the cat getting robbed

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  Год назад +1

      Not that I’m aware of. This car has the added advantage of the cat being behind the bumper, rather than under the car. That makes it harder to access.

    As I recall most all the nuts and bolts will be totally corroded into place and may well snap upon removal. This will mean stud /bolt removal tools, hardened drill bits and possibly the removal of many more parts to gain better access to retap threads. Not a nice job by any means.

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  7 месяцев назад

      Agreed. I’m under no illusion that I got lucky with this job.

      Ive just done mine as my manifold on one cylinder has disintegrating bolts were gorroded but but still came out ok 👍 👌

    Could you have not re-threaded the old cat?

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  Год назад +3

      I probably could, but that would have involved welding, drilling & tapping or helicoiling. Honestly, it’s not worth t cause I already had a spare.

    Christmas Eve had to put new exhaust on my Daughters toyota aygo for the mot she lives away and was only here for 2 days same thing happened threads went on one side of the catalytic converter so had to put just a bolt and nut on it but passed the mot, will re-thread drill and tap easy to do from under the car next time she here , needs a proper bolt with spring old one will be no good hole diameter will be bigger

      If you can get it to tighten up and not leak, you’re on to a winner there 👍🏻

      I’m sorry, I don’t have any links for items used, it’s been over a year since I bought the parts.
      Since doing the work, it’s worked just fine. There’s been no leaks and it’s passed an MOT.
