If you don't own the game even if you buy it then pirating isn't a crime fuck Steam anyhow Microsoft offers a large library of games anyway the samething you buy on Steam can be found in the Microsoft Store even after End of Life on modern Windows I think you can still download what you've purchased which makes no sense. They should just keep the store up if they want the money flocking after End of Life I could see Microsofts Store replacing digital games in a near future.

I'm trying to install the sims (it's from abondonware) and Lutris takes forever to configurate wine in my wine prefix folder.

point of order, Wine is expressly NOT an emulator, and sorta is in the name as a 'backronym'. it's a compatibility layer.
As soon as i hit play a white screen comes and goes away game is not launching

I've never been able to get a single game running on my machine using Lutris - not one. And boy, have I tried.
I get much better results using good old Wine only
You could try proton ge and see if it works for you or not

i did what you did in the video but in my Home folder under hidden files in the .wine folder under programs i dont got the NFSMW folder

Im trying to install thief deadly shadows. proton, lutris and wine seem to have a similar issue. i can get it installed, drive path correct and it will launch, but immediately shut down. I don't have an error message to go off of, so I'm not sure whats wrong.
I've been using steam keys since i have an abundance of steam games, and I'm still learning how to use .tgz file types.

Hi...thanks for the steps but i have a question. Is it possible to import an already installed game from my windows PC and run it from Lutris and what would be the steps? Reason i am asking is that i'm using a chromebook and i have lutris running with wine installed. I have Halo already installed on my other laptop so i'm wondering how i can run that instead.
You would have to mount the windows drive (or a usb with your game on it) to your chromebook to access it since the two drives will be in different file formats, and then it might work, im not too sure.
Would probably be easier to download it again

Is this a clean pc with only Linux installed, or is it a Windows PC and Linux got there an own Partition?
My laptop is triple booted with 2 Linux distros and win 10 home. Hope that helps!
I am staying on Windows 10 for now you can still emulate your games even if Steam runs out of service which I find unreliable for gaming to begin with since they render older Windows obsolete until Linux provides more service even without Wine I'm gonna have to call it quits for now Windows 10 is still good enough this time during end of life. According to Microsoft everything will run without support and so far Steam is still supporting Windows 10/11 it seems there might not be a Windows 12 since Microsoft will eventually run out of numbers and isn't based on a numeric system what happens when Microsoft runs out of business and people have no choice but to convert? I am doing mostly PC ports just wait until someone does a PC port for Grand Theft Auto 5 without the use of Steam from an Xbox game iso that's gonna be really fun to rollback to Windows 7 and use it if it does ever happen. Most PC ports like The Sims 1 only works on Windows and no mods I'm pausing at Windows 10 with security software for now and retiring one of my flash drives as a Windows 10 just to future proof I even archived an ISO so I'm basically set for life I might put it on the new megaupload website for grabs to prevent Microsoft from taking it down this time.

My wine prefix?
Wine has some system preset which it utilizes to run properly. Unless you tweak those presets, this warning is nothing to be concerned about.
@@samisnoviceinprogramming I've been trying to get 'Hell Let Loose' to run again, it stopped running on Linux after the last update. That's why I was trying 'Lutris' and I got that message during the game configuration. Thanks for your reply.

Hey friend, as far as my knowledge goes and for what I have seen in my system, when you install a game on lutris, it would automatically get full screened or at least have a full screen, minimize and exit widgets on the window since it's using wine to run the games. But if you are facing issue, I recommend googling it and let us know how you fixed it.
I’m having the same issue. After installation the game will run full screen. But if I close the game and reboot it will open in a small window in the top left hand corner.
