- This is my new 2011 Harley Davidson FXDC Super Glide Custom with phase one of the accessorizing we are going to do to the bike. Phase two will be done in the spring, and includes a custom Le Pera seat, a full Vance and Hines exhaust system, chroming the brake calipers front and rear, and chroming the front fork legs. Phase three will involve engine work and HD Stinger wheels.
I purchased this bike from Chi-Town Harley in Tinley Park IL. The bike went right back to the shop two days after I took delivery to add these parts. They did a fantastic job installing the accessories. They are great people to work with.
Check out my other Video to see the bike out on the road and hear the Cycle Shack mufflers that are presently on the bike.
ya that helps, thanks Ray. I got an opinion from a dealer, a mechanic, and a customer (you). Everything pans out so I feel a bit more confident putting these on myself. Thanks again, and keep 'er verticle.
Geneson Subra, thank you, I like the way they look.
I took the bike out to CO, UT, WY, ID, MT, ND, SD, and Minnesota, over 10 days. We did several 600 mile days, and I thought the bars were very comfortable. They also make me sit up with good posture, so my back was fine the whole time.
Hey Art-
I did replace the throttle cables, clutch cable, front and rear brake lines with stainless braided. They did NOT have to install extensions for the wiring, it was long enough as the factory bars actually were higher and wider than the drag bars. I might route the wires through the handlebars to hide them.
I just added the chrome front forks, chrome brake calipers, chrome brake discs, tribal mirrors, and other small stuff, so watch for another vid soon!

Yeah, I Love that seat!
I am also exactly 5'10". The seat moved me slightly forward on the handlebars, which I think is perfect for me now. I also own a BMW R100RS, so narrow bars work well for me. The drag bars on my Super Glide are very comfortable, no stretching to reach them, no shoulder or neck fatigue including a 400 mile cruise through lower Wisconsin during break in.
Weather... Yes, as I write this, there is a 6 foot snowdrift directly in front of my garage. Think Spring!
Very nice! Bet your HD Dealer LOVES YOU! $$$
Thanks for the compliment! They are 27 inch wide drag bars made by Drag Specialties. The risers are 6 inch straight risers from the HD parts and accessories catalog.

You were way ahead of the curve on this one! She's gorgeous. The TBars look great. Now I'm thinking of changing.
Beautifuly done. Been trying to decide on the Street Bob or the Super Glide. Yours makes me lean more towards the Glide. The chrome just sets it off so nicely.
The SG had more of the base look I wanted to build from: Chrome Engine, Chrome Spoke Wheels, regular style Harley two into two exhaust, and Full Fender. When I looked at what I would need to add to get the bike to where it is, it was less expensive to start with the SG. I do like the kicked out front end on the WG tho!
Good luck with your bike!
I had no decel backfiring with the Cycle Shack mufflers. The stock HD fuel management EFI will handle the pipes. I made no changes to the engine when I installed the Cycle Shacks. I later had the Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 exhaust, and the Kuryakin HIgh Five Mach II high flow air cleaner intalled, and that necessitated an EFI upgrade, but absolutely not with the Cycle Shacks. If I could get the V & H to sound just like the Cycle Shacks, I would be a happy camper! Good Luck!
@rod92370
Thanks for the comment. I had two shoulder surgeries immediately after buying this bike, so I had the Harley dealer put them on. They look pretty straightforward to me, and they do not require any messing with the electronic fuel injection. I personally installed exhaust systems on my other 4 Harleys, and this bike doesn't look any more complicated then any of them, which were all S & S Carbed shovelheads.
Hope that helps! Good luck with the install-
-Ray
@flyingrv6 That's a good question- Actually, the SG Custom offered more items already in place from where I wanted to start. The chrome engine rather than black, chrome rather than black spoked wheel rims, the wide instrument panel, and I really don't like the bobbed fender they put on the Wide Glide. When I added up the costs to convert either bike to it's present level, the SG Custom total was less.
Thank You, I appreciate the note. Stay tuned, lots more stuff i scoming for the bike. Santa was very good to me!
Hey Superglide2010-
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I think the Flames in silver would be very cool. Let me know when you intall the seat, and post some photos or a video of the seat!
Good Riding-
-Ray
I disagree with that mis-match handle comment. I think it looks awesome ( lose the tassel man) but concern about comfort level on long rides. Have you tried it on long haul?
Hey Six Beagles-
Sounds like some good mods for your motor. That is exactly what I am going to do my SG also, I guess I'm doing the customizing of the look and accessories first, then engine mods. I am going to have the dealer do the engine work, and I am starting with an S & S air cleaner and the Vance & Hines Big Radius also.
I'm not sure who makes the drag bars, they were ordered through the dealer. They may be Drag Specialties.
Good Luck with your bike-
-Ray
@alepiresv
Hey Alex, thanks for the compliment- I ordered the Cycle Shacks directly through my dealer, so I don't know the part numbers for the CS's. You could probably check on Cycle Shack's website, or maybe Drag Specialties, that is where my dealer ordered them from.
Good luck, and throw up a vid when you install the Cycle Shacks!
-Ray
Absolutely love your bike. Just curious if you still have it after all this time?
Dude u rock!
thanks for the ideas!!!
im definitely a follower....
@rd3744
Thanks for the compliment! Actually, I had the factory seat redone to match the Le Pera seat for longer distance riding. It is in two of my other videos.
Good Riding-
-Ray
I really don't know about that. I have done it in the past, but those were older Harleys with carbs, and no oxygen sensors. It seems that the oxygen sensors are closer to the manifold than the mufflers, so it seems do-able, but I would sure check with a mechanic first.........
Good luck!
-Ray
I put up another post here basically saying that the SG had more of everything I wanted as a base to work from than any of the other Dyna platforms. Yeah, I am really happy about the way it turned out! Thanks for the compliment..........
-Ray
Thanks Man, I appreciate the comment.

@okjapan1
Hey Bro- The forward controls came directly out of the HD accessories catalog from the dealer. They are great, and very comfortable. Just did a 3,900 mile trip through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and the two Dakotas. Seat, drag bars, and forward controls very comfortable the whole time. Longest day was 650 miles with no problems.
Good luck with your SG!
-Ray
Very nice Harley
There was no fuel system adjustment needed at all with the Cycle Shacks.
Good luck with the pipes!
Thanks man, I appreciate your comment.....
-Ray
Hi Ray! Very nice bike! I really loved the upgrade you did to your super glide! I just got my SG and am very interested on installing the cycle shacks on it. Because I live in Brasil, I'm planning to buy and import it from the USA (even with import taxes, I believe it will cost less than buying from local reseller), so could you please send me the full description and part numbers of this pipe? Thank you very much! Alex
@guzziman96
Thanks Bro, I appreciate the comment!
She is a beautiful bike!
-Ray
@SKED22 Yeah, they do sound great! Good Luck with the mufflers.
@SKED22 Hey SKED22..... They are the MS-129 Cycle Shack Slip On Mufflers. They were $182.95 at my Harley Dealer. I did not have to do any tuning adjustments on the bike.
I just got a 2012 FXDB and it is WAY to quiet. Did you need to tune the bike and get the hi flow air cleaner to use the slip ons? I see the stock air cleaner but this FI stuff is a million miles from what Im used to (40 yr old motors) so Im asking everybody! Thanks for the vids!
Hi, thanx for the vid. I'm thinking about some cycle shacks for my '09 FXDC, but I'm concerned about any performance issues. I'd like to put them on myself, but don't want to have to tweek anything. Do you know if these pipes are out of the box and ride ones, or am I going to have to have a mechanic put them on? Thanks for your help.
Thank You, I appreciate that!
Great video...great bike
beautiful bike i have a lot of the mods you did on my 06 super glide was wondering if you wanted to part with the stock seat
she's....so....so...beatiful !!
I did not add an EFI upgrade with the Cycle Shack mufflers. They didn't need one, or a re-map of the EFI at all. I DID add the Screaming Eagle Race Tuner when I had the Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 Into 2 complete Exhaust system installed.
Wow, that's a lot miles. How tall are you? I'm planning to get one soon and not sure about the handle. One salesman trying to get me to buy the Street Bob and another salesman wants to sell me the super glide. I might have to settle for the pullback handle for now and maybe test ride a bike with the handle like yours which I like.
Thanks for the update.
thanks ! I just bought the same bike as your looking for some more sound !
Thank You Googinator!
Hey man Awesome Harley! had a quick question, I am stuck between deciding for the super glide or the wide glide. what are the major differences and/or advantages?
@IgHul666
Thank You, I appreciate the comment!
HARLEYS COME IN TWO COLORS.
BLACK AND CHROME.😎😎😎
But these young folks these days love their no chrome flatties.
I believe the pullback is only two inches.
If you like the forward controls why didn't you just go with a Wide Glide?
Thanks Man I appreciate it!
You do not need to tune the bike with the Cycle Shack slip ons if you do not add a high-flow air cleaner.
Oh how I love your bike. I have a 2010 and love it. Can you tell me what bars you have and risers, I love how clean it looks
Walter, they are 20" wide drag bars from Drag Specialties, set on 6" straight risers from HD.
Thanks Ray.
Beautiful Bike!
What kind of handlebars are those?
what model cycle shack mufflers do you have ? are they slip ons? and was there any tuning adjustments needed for slip ons?
@rod92370
Sounds good, man- Ride Safe
Give us a vid when you get it done!
I've always wondered is it easy to ride between cars in traffic jams on harleys like it is on pocket bikes? I always thought maybe theyre too wide to fit between two cars in parallel lanes
Really?
im sorry 1 more thing....
what is the pullback on the bars? 4"?
@TheBrindleBoxer
Damn, now you got me thinkin!
Nice bike but get rid of the tassels that's so 1970s and the derby cover with the gold I would go with something like the Willie G logo or the number one
I'd do the #1
The tassels are hideous.
It wouldn't take a professional to know those bars don't match... everything else is fine...
That I don't know, I don't think it is legal in Illinois. I would'nt do it anyway, I don't trust these Illinois drivers!
