The toast actually retails at £1.99, not £1.29 as Simon said. And that's for a small tin of 3.4% beer made from rancid old bread? And they call it an IPA, at 3.4%. WTAF 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was £1.50 in mine so price seems to vary
I did a video on the toast and I was also surprised I liked it. Loved the idea of the misfits and if you like a fruited cider I think you’d like the beer / cider maybe ?????? Cheers 👍🍻
Freedom Brewery do the Fruit Beer - hence the star on the front. And Seven Brothers do the stout - hence the 7 on the can. Back of the label will say where it’s brewed also.
Really happy with that stout review, I grabbed one before seeing this and I'm not so worried now!
I had the toast IPA (it's really a pale ale) and I quite liked it - I might pick up some more. Although I do think at 3.4% it should be a quid a can or sold in 4 packs for like £3 or something. I didn't bother with the other two
Have you reviewed Tiny Rebel’s Stay Puft?
I just made a review video called The Vile Pile, and it features an Aldi beer. Luckily, none of the ones you've reviewed here! Great video Simon.
Can't deal with the AI voice so it's a no from me I'm afraid.
@ not to worry. Each to their own. Takes a lot longer to write and edit than just talking, but faceless videos are quite common and especially useful for people that don’t want to appear on screen. I’m really ugly 😬
Cheers for review Simon Toast beer absolutely Stinking Fruit beer ok for me.not tried the stout yet cheers! 👍🏻
I had the exact same ones a few weeks ago, I definitely agree with the fruit beer, it was more like a glass of squash. I did really like the marshmallow stout, but also agree that there are better ones, but it's still worth having.
Low alcohol is good actually, to take break on health?
You are right Simon they don’t look appealing at all. Must admit the St Pierre blonde you reviewed is very nice a bit like the old Leffe blonde 👍. Great reviews as always.
Great video Simon. I tried the the aldi misfits wonky fruit beer a couple of weeks ago it was awful but will definitely try the toast beer and the marshmallow stout 👍
Just had the stout. If it had said mild on the tin I would have been more impressed. Time to buy a few more
Tried a Brewdog Rocky Road stout, that was far too sweet and sickly. I give these stouts a try because sometimes you get a really good one, had an apple pie stout you got the apple pie taste but it was really subtle, good mouth feel, not to sweet and a nice bitter back end.
Without even watching the video, I came for the comments :)
Wasn’t disappointed
I saw these yesterday in Aldi but didn't fancy them. I did buy their coffee stout which was ok but too coffee-y. Am I unusual in wanting my beer to taste of beer? If I want coffee, I drink coffee. If I wanted to eat marshmallow, I'd buy a pack of marshmallows.
The one in the bottle? I quite enjoy that
@@tobyjackman3212 Yes that's the one. It wasn't bad but all I could taste was coffee.
Yeah but it's good to involve them in drinks
I like Coffee Stout and the Aldi one is good, but it started giving me banging headaches. Not even in the morning, I mean about 10 minutes later. Don't know if they've changed something in it, or I just wasn't well, but it's put me off. I'll have to try it again 😂
Don’t know why Aldi bother brewing these cheap and nasty beers 🤷♂️ You pay for what you get. I saw these on the shelves a week ago, and that’s where they stayed! All the best Si 👍
Alas you can buy some really expensive Supermarket craft beer and it will be dross full of adjuncts. Expensive doesn't always mean quality
@@johnedwards3198It does when you buy direct from the brewery. Pay for what you get, end of.
I'm a fan of stout and tried this one as I saw it was brewed by 7 Brothers and I used to like their Sling It Out Stout, but this was absolutely woeful. Thin, watery, no taste of marshmallow at all. Waste of time.
Does the toast one even taste of it??
I’ve never really been impressed by any 7 Brothers beer, find it odd though as less than 50 yds away you’ve got Pomona Island brewing outstanding beer and Cloudwater and Track a couple of miles away also producing incredible beer. They really need to step up a bit.
Thanks. I think the Stout is ok and expected it to be awful too.
Have you (or do you plan to) review the Celebration Ale from Sainsbury's? It looks interesting.
Great video as always mate.
I think he did that a couple of weeks back
@tobyjackman3212 thanks, will dig that out.
I have been given a can of the stout, was worried it was going to be too marshmallow, less now tnx
Good review 👍
Knew this video would be coming. Tried the stout and the fruit one. The stout one tasted like there was an ok stout lurking in there masked by flavourings and the fruit one was frankly dreadful.
Si - TR can be hit & miss these days but they've got a good cask oat stout on in the Cardiff bar ATM.
No big newsflash that some cans from Aldi are cack
Could tell you weren’t excited about this one from the first few seconds of the introduction 😂 at least two of them were better than expected
Aldi craft beers have dropped off a cliff. A good while back there was a decent selection and very well priced. Nowadays there’s nothing much that interests me apart from the occasional Williams Bros stuff. Their Madri rip-off is my go-to currently which isn’t a craft beer I know, but it’s cheap and hits the spot.
you get more variety in Aldi in the UK than Aldi Nord...... saying that i'll stick with my solid German stuff thanks
That's true, but it's getting better... In the last months the amount of known big brands has grown a lot and because of their new "local stuff campaign" they even have beer from smaller local breweries (in my case they have cans of Wolters Pilsener).
If you haven't tried it yet, I really can recommend the Schultenbräu Winterbock. I was really sceptical about it, because it's brewed by Frankfurter Brauhaus, but it's a damn good christmas beer (7.0% ABV, no hop extract crap) sold for only €0.79.
@@frankseyen9156 i am quite partial to the Schultenbräu Export, for 55 cents it is a damn good beer, but places like Penny have bene doing Warsteiner for 59 cents and Paulaner for 79 cents... it makes any decision very easy
Need to rename it "The shit foundry"
You've just saved me a trio and some money.
Aldi Marshmallow Stout Review , Aldi Misfits Wonky Fruit Beer Review , Aldi Another Round Of Toast More Craft Beer Reviews love louis shirley
Tried the toasty and wonky beer myself today the toasty is ok but the wonky fruit stuff is terrible it was like drinking a weak flavoured fruity water it was in no way beer
You've given them an idea for a new slogan Simon.
ALDI....You've had worse.
That fruit beer must have been awful for you to think the stout was okay. I thought it had a taste of cherry sauce (the stuff that goes on ice cream) about it, that on the 3rd or 4th sip starts tasting absolutely awful!
I've tried the Hop Foundry Marshmallow Stout. Like the other Hop Foundry beers, it's nasty. It doesn't taste like stout, or have any trace of marshmallow. It tastes vaguely like cheap, artificially sweetened chocolate. One to avoid. I don't understand how Aldi get their craft beer range so wrong, when Lidl do much better, and especially given Aldi's reputation for excellent wines and spirits.
Here in Scotland Aldi & Lidl stock a lot of Scottish brewers' craft ales and lagers. they have clearly managed to build good relationships with these brewers. Great selection, and most of the beers are good, some excellent. All retailing £1.49 - £2.00.
That Toast beer was a hot mess, two sips and down the sink, just a bitter mess with nothing good about it .
Did exactly the same thing with that toast beer last week 2 sips down the sink absolutely Rotten so glad someone agrees with me 👍🏻
What do you expect from a beer made from old, out-of-date bread?
@@nigelwatson2750 I appreciate your point but it isn’t valid. They’ve added bread that was going to waste as one ingredient. It still has the usual malt hops yeast and water and the bread will have been a minor part of that. It’s just a bad beer. I had the fruit beer last night and it wasn’t any better
Toast is £1.99 @ Aldi
for 440ml of 3.4% ABV watery rubbish made from out of date bread. I'll pass.
@@nigelwatson2750 how can you tell, not in date
These Craft Beer prices are absolutely crazy. £3 - £4,50 in major supermarkets. And yet Aldi sell them for half the price. Go figure? Are they just the rancid leftovers that no one else will take?
Go buy an Aldi 'craft' beer then head to Tesco and pick up something like Vocation Love and Hate or Northern Monk Tank Petrol for £3 or so and you'll get your answer 😁
The Stout comes from 7 Brothers........very well respected round our way, ok at a price point but it is a decent stout, buy it you wont be disappointed, carbonation wise, just do what i do and put two cans in a bowl and mix it for two mins get the fizz out of it pour it in a pint glass, nice, to say there are Stouts out there costing triple this.
The ABV's are getting a joke. I reckon Simon will be reviewing shandys in about 10 years time the way things are going!
I think the ABVs are pathetic now, & you can't get a cheap decent strength beer anywhere, I never see any of the overpriced small tins of ales in Home Bargains in anyone's basket. No one buys them.
The only stout they have thats any good is the coffee stout. Apart from that, as far as Aldi is concerned, I only ever consider their german lagers as generally all their ales are utter pish.
Not for me
Cheaply brewed, and mank
Aldi beers are always on the same level as dishwasher water for me.
Their bottles are often good. But these Hop Foundry offerings are generally horrid excuses for beer
Tried them all They were all shite
