That's also true, I have miss that part. I think I will make another video just on the different type of rumbling and chutting because they can communicate so many emotion with those sounds.
My late Pumpkin used to purr merely at the sight of my hand coming down to pet him. I have loved all my guinea pigs but there was something special about Pumpkin!
@@GuineaPigFacts I named mine Pumpkin because he had this adorable pumpkin orange head whereas the rest of his body was black and white. I sure wished I still had him. He died in December of 2015. He was then, and is now a sweet little angel!
Only once in my life have I heard my guinea pig chirping. This was not a good sign. My guinea pig was very sad at that time and it was a cry of despair. She thought she would get a new friend, but that new guinea pig was for another guinea pig who was alone in a cage. When Daisy realized that the new guinea pig was in the cage next to her, she was very sad. Then she started chirping. This was the first and only time I heard a guinea pig chirping. Only when my husband took her in his arms did she calm down. It was the worst sound I could have ever heard from my guinea pig. I never want to hear that again! Finally, in a few days, both little pigs were reunited and they live happily together to this day.
My piggy,Harley, will rumble and go up to my boss piggy,Hampton, and it looks like he kisses Hampton near his eye/face. It looks like Harley is being submissive?!Because he doesn’t try to bite Hampton EVER.❤I do a full sweep of their cage 2x per day ( replacing rugs/bedding every 2-3 days) and it’s so satisfying when they start purring and chutting around their clean cage😊❤ My piggies are seniors (4-4 1/2) so they rarely popcorn, but they seem pretty happy, so I’m not worried ❤
That's something normal to see a hierarchy building up in a good herd. That's their way to protect and take care of each other. They will also groom the others and one of them will take care of the leader. It is true that it is so rewarding and heartwarming to see them appreciate what we are doing. 🥰🥰
One of my boys at times will combine all of those sounds at once then a rumble strut popcorn then the roomies. It's almost like he's having a joke with his brother who he shares his pen with 😊
That’s an excellent question because both sounds can be similar. It will mostly depend of the context. As example Raven will purr when she is happy when she fresh hay. Then she will rumble when she gets blocked by and other piggy to go on the second floor. She will also have an in between pur-rumble when we put her on the floor and there is no cage around. Seems like she is a bit anxious when she doesn’t have any references point. She is not a free roamer like Sarah and Brownie.
Of all the years we've had guinea pigs that live in our house with us. I have experience two guinea pigs that have chirped... Appears they are very scared about something or maybe in pain they always stop instantly when I pick them up

I would like to add that rumble strutting is also courting behavior.

It’s true that chirping can be an alarming signal. It’s always stressful to see an animal in distress when we don’t understand what is happening.
Our piggy makes the chutting sound when we hold her. We thought she wasn’t happy but she licks us at the same time!
When a guinea pig licks you it is usually a very good sign that it feels safe with you.

That must be wonderful to hear that amount on joy coming from your guinea pig 🤗
You are really good at making videos 😊
Thank you so much 😀 Your piggies are really adorable.
How do you tell the difference between rumbling and purring?

Most of the time, even if it doesn't happen often, their is something unusual that one guinea pig can perceive.
