Nicko McBrain, Stewart Copeland and Alex Van Halen have together made my three favourite studio cymbal sounds..............if only we could find a common thread between the three?
Thanks man! Massively influenced by Nicko himself, he's been a hero of mine for the past 13 years!! I've probably dreamed of owning this ride cymbal for the same amount of time! It's stunning! Glad you liked the video, appreciate the kind words!
This ride is stunning . Is it awailable in different weights ? I heard about versions of 3479 and 3492 kg but I'am not sure . Please ! Do you know if this beautifull ride is in a unique version ?
quarzoazzurro I’m not sure if it is available in different weights... but obviously comes in different sizes and the weight will differ between the standard signature and the reflected signature. Either way, a beautiful cymbal! I’m sure if you contact the guys at Nicko’s Drum One, they’ll be able to help you out! 😊
paiste are perfect cymbals and they all sound the same (if you have one 18" rude crash/ride it sounds exaclty like mine, nickos, joey jordisons or fat tonys down at the plant) But I dont like the sound or playing them except their hi-hats. Best hi-hats in the world hands down. I know the feeling opening a new cymbal and its awesome! :) great vid mate!
Yeah they certainly are precision cymbals! Yeah the Hi-Hats are gorgeous. My next purchase will be the Signature Reflected Hats (when I have the money!!) but can’t wait to get my hands on them. They sounded stunning when I played Nicko’s kit. Out of curiosity, what cymbals would you usually go for, or are playing now?
@@DavidWinterDrums I used to rock zildjian a-coustom but after we broke up the band I sold my dream kit to afford beer/rent.. I cheaped out this time so my crashes are 16" zultan aja 18" zultan aja 19" wuhan (you probably see where this is going :) ) and a 16" wuhan china (sounds like its been backed over by a napalm truck.. My main hats are 14" 101 paiste (blue 70s series) wich have been with me for over 25 years and a 505 13" on a cable system. I have tried different hats but not being rich they have been with me forever :) a few other brands/sizes/sounds have come and gone but i tend to stick with bright, thin, crisp ctrl.
Somehow only just seen this comment! They do indeed, although the range itself is still called ‘Signature’ Paiste Signature reflected Ride is what you’ll be after 😁👍
I was actually using the Signature Power Bell, just not the Reflector version! Both awesome sounding cymbals! I’ve still been a bit too scared to properly unbox and use the Powerslave ride on the daily, so the normal Signature has still been the go-to!
@@DavidWinterDrums do you mean Signature Power Ride? or is it a special edition? Looking to invest in a signature ride myself but not convinced 100% on the bell in the Signature Full ride ...
Danger Summers Custom Shop the Paiste Signature ride comes in a ‘dry’ and reflected version. The Powerslave edition (with the maiden font/artwork) is on the Reflector version which Nickos plays! Both awesome sounding cymbals which is why I’ve happy enough playing the standard Signature to keep my Nicko one safe!! Haha
@@DavidWinterDrums oh when you say dry you mean the classic finish non reflected? because there is an actual dry version of it, like dry dry like purposely dry, or like the signature duo ride which has a super dry portion of the cymbal. I am just curious which is the actual name of your previous signature cymbal before the Nicko since you said the bell cuts amazingly, really interested in that, is it a full ride? or a power ride?, had a set of Alpha Metal Edge myself which have reflected finish so I am kind of done with that sound, although the Nicko ride sounds phenomenal got you when you say want to keep it safe hahaha,
Yes sorry that’s right! Confusing myself just as much now!! Classic finish is the one I have for the daily, not the dry** you’re right!! Good question! I’m sure it’s the Power Ride but I’ll have to double check!! I think they’ve had a few variations in names over the years (I remember Nicko saying that at his drum store) but they’re all pretty much the same cymbal - power ride, power bell etc I’m actually back to rehearsals for the first time in 3 months tonight! I’ll have to take a look!
Hey Nick, yeah it sounds awesome!! I'm in a few different bands and do quite a bit of dep work, some bands it will work for, others I'd probably stick with the original ride as it's not as bright... That said, it will be a while before I even risk taking this beauty out of the studio!! Haha And thanks for pointing out the end card links, they should be working now... Fingers crossed!

I have always wanted this ride. It's is the best sounding ride ever.
It certainly is! I absolutely love this thing!
I thought I wanted the Signature full ride but.....wow this thing is amazing! Now how to convince my Wife I have to have it!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 yep it’s a beauty! One for the Christmas list perhaps! Ha
they are so amazing coming out of the box.
You´re simply AMAZING, David!!!!!
Love this ride. I like your drumming, its very swingy and a lot of passion! Great
Mats Rydström thanks! Heavily influenced my Nicko himself that’s for sure!
Great vid - thanks! I recently obtained the discontinued signature power bell ride 22" and love it.
I love it..What are the other cymboas for crying out loud.
I have the same ride that I play in my maiden tribute band Ancient Mariner! I love it!!🤘🏻
Awesome drumming man!! 🤘🏻 ...that ride sounds so damn gorgeous, I’ve been drooling over those ever since they came out! 😍

Correct! Love that track! Always seems to be something I go to play on the bigger kits... awesome fun!!
Sounds Awesome!!!
I got myself the somewhat classic sound of Rock in Rio - The Dimentions 22" Powerbell ride in mint condition)

What make is your silver drum kit and would you consider selling it.
Do they make a NON-signature version of this that would be exactly the same only slightly cheaper?
Somehow only just seen this comment!
They do indeed, although the range itself is still called ‘Signature’
Paiste Signature reflected Ride is what you’ll be after 😁👍
@@DavidWinterDrums Thank you very much!
I have the same cymbal absolutely 💯.
How did you tune the snare?
My dude! which Paiste ride cymbal were you using before the powerslave? :o

Brand of the drum?
This kit a Pearl Export kit, 2002 I think!
Nice video, Dave! Loving the ride, sounds amazing. Would it suit your cover band? Also, your links at the end don't look like they work!

It does indeedy!
Dig it but why wouldn't I?
