    Their big mistake was no odometer ! I have e mailed them countless times BUT engineers failed on this one. If you want bragging rights on reliability ? Show your mileage. Ninebot max has proven this. Their G2 needs work though. Hiboy to date in my experience has been quite good in customer service. Actually better than most brands. Odometer should be next on their agenda.

      I've never really thought about how many electric scooters that I've ridden don't have odometers. You're right though, an odometer would be a great addition to their scooters

      @@BikeHombre they just need to implement it. Ninebot did and they have proof it's a good scooter based on mileage. Now Hiboy needs to step up. 1:05

    Thank you for going all the way to test the range of the scooter. Everything else in every scooter is rather self-evident: size, wheels, brakes but the range is highly individual and similar sized batteries will yield different results. Plus the range claimed by the manufacturer is ONE thing you know for sure is always too optimistic and I'm peeved by lazy reviewers who'll just repeat the manufacturer's figures knowing full well they're hardly ever reproducible. I wonder if you can get hold of Inmotion S1F. That's another really long-range scooter (claimed almost 60 miles) only slightly more expensive than the Hiboy Max.

      Thank you, I appreciate the comment! I checked out the Inmotion and that would be fun to test that scooter out. I will see if I can get a hold of one; if I can you can guarantee that I will be doing a range test on it :)

    I just bought the max as my very first scooter. I too live in San Diego. What recommendations do you have for how to lock it up? Thank you!

    • @BikeHombre
      @BikeHombre  8 месяцев назад +6

      Hey fellow San Diegan! When it comes to locking it, I recommend the scooter locks that look almost like handcuffs on Amazon. They’re super heavy duty and somewhat affordable. My biggest recommendation is to hide an AirTag on the scooter, so even if someone steals the scooter you can still track it. Thanks for the question and I hope you enjoy the Max Pro as much as I’m enjoying mine!

    • @BikeHombre
      @BikeHombre  Год назад +3

      That's a great question. I just left it at the 35psi that it came with. I would think that around 25-30psi would be the sweet spot between having extra cushion while still being stiff enough to have low rolling resistance.

    How does the scooter handle going up hills? Does it struugle? ✌

    • @BikeHombre
      @BikeHombre  11 месяцев назад +3

      The scooter handled hills very well. Hiboy says that max climbing angle is 20 degrees and I hit some hills on the ride that were easily 15 degrees. and it did slow down slightly, but not much; and that was in the middle Drive mode. I'm pretty confident that as long as you're lighter than me (190lbs) you could cruise up hills under 20 degrees with ease. Thanks for the question!

      @bubblemagic8664 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@BikeHombre ok cool. Ya I'm debating getting this scooter, but at 230 lbs I'm just hesistant if the scooter's 500-650watt motor is poweful enough. Definitely overwhelemed my 1st scooter (250 watt lol). Thanks!

    • @BikeHombre
      @BikeHombre  11 месяцев назад +2

      @@bubblemagic8664 So I just did a hill test with my daughter and I on the scooter (we weigh about 240 combined) and up a hill about a 15 percent grade I was able to go up at about 13-14 mph on Sport mode. Hope this helps. If you don’t think it’s powerful enough I recommend a 800w electric scooter. You can probably find another brand around the same price with more power, but the range will probably be at least 10 miles less

    • @BikeHombre
      @BikeHombre  Год назад +2

      That’s super weird. I have to say that the first half of the battery does last longer than the second, but it almost sounds like it needs a firmware update. I would definitely reach out to Hiboy if it persists. Are you using the Sport mode? I noticed that they Sport mode eats the battery life much faster.

    • @BikeHombre
      @BikeHombre  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@flameblaze2777 It's a really tough decision. I will give you my 2 cents and try to keep my bias at a minimum (since I have ridden the Hiboy and not the Niu). I think the Hiboy has a lot of advantages over the Niu: battery size, better range, bigger motor, lower price currently, front suspension, bigger wheels, wider deck, and an optional seat. The Niu does have advantages as well: lighter weight, better app, higher top speed, better warranty, and a sleeker design.
      So just based on comparing these two with their advantages, I personally think the Hiboy is a better value. I have been lucky enough to ride a lot of scooters, and the MAX Pro is one of the best sub-$1k electric scooters that I've ridden. I hope this helps.
