Yes I heard this on Walking Dead. I'm also a bassist so immediately recognized the sound of a bowed double bass which is rare in non classical music. I love how the bassist just whips out his German bow to add some nice accented bowed bass tones!
Harrison Goodale got those bass chops from his bassist high school director, Scott Chaurette, and then went on to study music education/bass at the University of Connecticut ...... where he met these guys.
I come back to this song when I feel my life isn't going anywhere and I feel like nothing I do gets me closer to my goals. To me the song is about how life is about perspective and how while some people look at you and your goals and don't see their worth, it's up to you to choose whether or not you want to continue pursuing them and find the things you do value in this life, because no matter what you do the people you love and the life you live will all end. Then it amps you up by talking about how the smallest actions you do can change the world so don't waste your time worrying about whether or not people accept you and your goals we all end up dust anyway, so why drink in the toxicity of people that try to spread their negativity? They accomplished their goal of trying to tear you down, will you give up on your dreams or keep trying to plant those damn flowers.
00:10 Well I came along to find a little peace of mind neglectin' all my duties, steppin' off that straightened line now I just sit by my front door filled with indolence and sound it's like I'm watchin' the weeds grow on my brow and I had a pure potential in a soiled white shirt with love enough to kill me, but was unsure of its worth and though the night is sweetened by some rising of the moon I've lived enough to know the battle's never through you pass something down, no matter where or how will there be weeds or wildflowers affixed upon your bows there's a crooked burning cigarette rollin' on your tongue will there be weeds or wildflowers when you're done instrumental Remember you traveled through the desert, you traveled to the sea lookin' out on some horizon, asking what you mean to me and we all hang around with a free or toiled mind while all of our branches entwine and as I watch the brick erode from day to day the leaves change their colors and the loft fills with hay as a blade of sunshine cuts across my chest the blood beneath boils with unrest you pass something down, no matter where or how will there be weeds or wildflowers affixed upon your bows there's a crooked burning cigarette rollin' on your tongue will there be weeds or wildflowers when you're done lada lada Blown about by the wind, a worthless little thing but the world can feel the changes of a butterfly's wing and so that crooked burning cigarette rollin' on your tongue will leave its weeds before your flowers yet have sprung will there be weeds or wildflowers when you're done "
I heard this group for the first time in Toronto 2 years ago, at a play called Robin Hood's Heart or something like that. I loved them inmediately. I'm so happy to see that they finally recive the recognition they deserve. Love your music guys! And thanks to TWD for casting some light on your music!
Why cant music be so pleasant pure and fresh sound! This is beautiful. A lot of music feature in the walking dead is old school music. Today's music does not hold a candle to any of it. Same with anime and movies.
Holy shit every comment is for Walking Dead. These dudes are quality, both in their music and as people in general. Really chill, talented guys. The rest of their music deserves the kind of attention that this song gets, lmao.
I heard that Parsonsfield were still developing their sound. Well, they have passed that hurdle because they were tight, amazing, innovative and a delight to watch and listen to at the 2015 Vancouver Folk Music Festival in Canada this July. Very impressive indeed. They were GREAT!

Saw these guys last night in a very intimate setting in Healdsburg, CA. They sounded so good, their harmonies are beautiful, and they can down and funky as well. All in all it was a tremendous how.
I'm from Mexico and I'm watching the new TWD episode right now... IT WAS A HUGE START!!!! I tell you guys, you'll be on my playlist the whole week, and more, obvs.
Saw them in Philly opening for Lake Street Dive - fantastic show all around. My first exposure to them and they are the real deal. Best CD of the year....by far...
Heard this song on walking dead a few years ago. Now i listen to it almost everyday. Why is good music like this hidden? Without walking dead I wouldn't have even heard of it
Much appreciated. You all a great! Saw your in Nashville tonight I think. I seriously recommend coming to Knoxville, you'd be right at home. Much luck on the tour, and I look forward to your LP!
This tune, and Oats in the Water, are just about the two best things I took from TV these past 3-4 years -- both thanks to The Walking Dead. Show is a flaming wreck now, but I'll always remember those early/middle years fondly.
Feel like I'm already to sing along with this catchy & kinda familiar-sounding tune. Told kind of a cool story as Carol moved through the outside for some foraging (weeds or wildflowers, anyone?), and ended up getting her a soiled white shirt sprayed with walker blood. Nice!
+Adam Jakeman I liked carol version better, but then again she is my favorite on the walking dead. She is one bad ass with a cool as a cucumber demeanor which makes her even more of a bad ass. By the way, nice song and video. But again I like Carol's version better :)
A song to listen to while handing out cookies to everybody in town

The walking dead broadening my musical horizons once again.

I absolutely love this song. The unpredictable chord progression is a breath of fresh air.
I heard this song on The Walking Dead. I just had to look it up. It is now on my playlists.
I'm a metalhead, and I actually really like this song. I never saw a dude play a tree before, which is kinda cool. Well done, boys.

Love your music guys! And thanks to TWD for casting some light on your music!
one thing that I really love about this band, they don't need fancy studio or equipment to produce such a high quality stuff like this.
What instrument do you play?
The Tree Trunk.
Lmfao yeah
I was like what does that even mean until i saw the dude just bangibg on the tree trunk
They are on stage and provide the music for "The Heart Of Robin Hood" at the Royal Alexander theatre in Toronto,Ontario
Why cant music be so pleasant pure and fresh sound!

The originality and genuine artistry in this song needs too be more recognized!!

They all look like they could be characters from the show.
I'll be playing this long after TWD finishes.

This tune, and Oats in the Water, are just about the two best things I took from TV these past 3-4 years -- both thanks to The Walking Dead. Show is a flaming wreck now, but I'll always remember those early/middle years fondly.
Saw them at the Clinton Music festival in NY last year... I'm hoping they'll be there this weekend!
