All weed wackers are different, but it's the same basic concept to change the line. For my craftsman C3 19.2 weed eater you first remove the red cover, then take out the spool. Any string line will work, just insert the end of the line to the groove and wrap onto the spool. Then replace the spool and feed the line through the hole. Put the cap back on and you are done. Should take about 2 minutes.
Some weedeaters have double string and some people decide to replace the line with zip ties.

When I push the line in the groove what does it lock onto? Mine has the same thing but idk where it locks onto
@@SamoanSituation It should be a friction fit. Then twisting the line in the other direction keeps it in place.
RUclips is amazing for people who didn't have dads growing up
Facts
Yeah it's always nice to see that people try & help others with the simpler things irl on this website.
Not everybody's dad knows this kind of stuff either, my mom taught me everything.
I had a dad growing up my parent's are even still together but he worked so much he was barely home and didn't teach me things or when he was home didn't have the patience. So I had to figure things out. I am glad for RUclips these days. A long time ago you either had to figure it out or go out there and try and if u mess up you hope a neighbor comes and shows you lol
Yes! And for women whose dads or husbands knew handy homeowner skills but didn't share the knowledge with their children or wives 😁. I didn't grow up with a dad around and my husband didn't enjoy teaching stuff like how to use a saw, a drill, fix a leaky sink, or change the weed eater string. Once I became a single mom it was RUclips that has shown me everything! Now I love building projects and fixing things 👍🙂
Believe it or not at 50 yrs old with autism this video taught me how to do this simple task. Thank you for the simplicity of the tutorial
Ty!!!! Single mom cutting my grass for the first time and my weed eater ran out of the line. Eeek! This was helpful!
Thank you soo much!! My father passed away and he taught me everything!!! Except this... 👍🙂😇
Same..my dad passed and here I am on you tube. Sorry for your loss
@@janaboone1769 thank u sorry for your loss too.
@@janaboone1769 Is this the meeting of dad passings? Mine did too. I was so frustrated at the line that kept coming undone...that little hole at the bottom I would have never found.
Hope you guys are doing good
@@mrfriske seems like all our dads forgot to teach us this 😂 yes that hole was a game changer. Some days are better than others.
My father passed away too; here for the same reason. Sorry for y’all loss!
Someone else has always done the Weedwhacker work, but now I find myself having to do it. You’ve given me so much confidence… I’ve always been afraid of this little machine, but today I actually added string all by myself!😂❤
Same here likewise. I'm a female with little knowledge on hardware tools. I'm motivated by lifehacks & how-to's! 🙏
Thank you for this short and simple viedo my husband passed away so whenever I run into a problem I look it up. This is very helpful ❤
Thanks Dave. An old lady here, I had to replace the string and YOU made it easy as pie! Thanks again
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I have been outside doing yard work and ran out of string for my weed eater. Came inside and clicked on your video. So easy and your directions were very helpful! Thanks so much!
Thank you for the tutorial. From a single woman homeowner 😀
Same! 😭
I know this comment is 8 months old, but I love the Key and Peele reference. 😂 “Dee Nyce” I assume your real name is Denise lol.
@@slurpcurry4253 close, it's Deidra. I love that skit 😂😂😂😂
Finally a man who doesn't make the huge assumption that a woman has a pioneer spirit and is technically-minded like a man. That we have no clue why a notch is here, and a push button is there! Thanks a bunch, young man ❤-- from this almost 70 year old grandma!.
We single girls appreciate you the most 😁❤🧡💚💖🙏🏼
Single girls 🫱🏼🫲🏽 boys without fathers
Best how to video, ever!
Short, easy to follow, and straight to the point!
Thank you, and great job!
Needed to replace the string on my trimmer and the hardware store didn't have a replacement spool. I bought line instead and this was the perfect video for showing how to reload the spool. Thank you!
Thank you for this video that wasn't bogged down by an intro clip, discussion of why you're doing this video, etc. Great and straightforward, I really appreciate that!
Thank you very much!! I have the exact same spool which is not very popular nowadays. The tricky part is using the groove to lock the string before rewinding the string. I explored a while until I found this video. I like your style that getting to the work right away. This video is gold!
Thank you so much for these videos. My father never taught me this stuff or would give up easily when I didn't pick things up right away and these have helped tremendously in learning a lot of stuff I feel like should've already known.
The most concise and informative video! I really like that you show the still pics as you're explaining. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this great video. I'm taking over many of my husband's tasks and couldn't remember how to wind the string. Just completed the job!!! Have a great summer!!
You are much appreciated sir as dramatic as this sounds this is literally the community of RUclips that I appreciate
Thanks, have to do this tomorrow... Simple, straight to it instructions.... Thank you.
I just love youtube. Fixed a sink today and learned how to change the line on weedwaker. You explained it beautifully! Thank you. Another thing done on my checl list!
Thank you so much for making this video! Your instruction is very clear and easy to follow.
Hey I just wanted to tell you I watched 6 or 7 videos and you were so better at giving useful instructions, showing the intricate details of the inside and no one else does that. Just wanted let you know. keep up the useful videos. Score is 10 out of 10 if we were keeping score. Thanks
Thank you! I was weed wacking today & ran out of line and had no idea how to refill or change the spool. I sure appreciate this video. 😊
Thanks for helping a single lady be independent! Great explanations and pointing out of the smaller parts. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing!!!!! Straight to the point!!!!! I appreciate you. Wish I could like your video a hundred times.
Perfect exactly like our Craftsman "classic" gives it new life.
🎉finally found some helpful information after several of us not able to figure it out and a lot of useless videos that skip this step. So thank you!
I deeply wanna appreciate you man. Growing up, my parents didn’t teach me anything so I had to be self taught.
Thank from a single mature lady in the uk.. great video that showed me exactly how to do it👏
My hubby is out of town and I wanted to surprise him by having the yard done when he got home. But the string came out about 5 mins into weed whacking. Thanks for helping me restring it so that I can finish! 😊
How did it turn out was he happy?
@@JakeLikness-v6e he was! It gave us the opportunity to have quality family time once he was home because he didn’t have his normal yard work to do! 😊
@@jen_bolt love to hear it so happy for you 🫡
I watched you today to see how to change the string in my trimmer. Thank you!
Thank you sir. I have several hours trying to understand how this works. Your video is very much appreciated.
My husband died last year and I needed to know how to maintain the yard.
Thank you so much for sharing this video!
thank you! never had anybody willing to teach me even the basic!
I'm so happy I could cry. Thank you so very much. I was today years old when I stopped wasting weed eater string and money!
Thank you so much! You were so clear and straight to the point, so it helped me to realize it's a lot easier than I thought.
First time doing the string on a weed whacker after watching this video. Worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
Thank you! 🙏
I gave up using a weed whacker because I’m always a bit intimidated by mechanical things, even this, 😂
Your video explains it so well!
You’re a great teacher, this was perfect. Thank you!
Tysm! Husband's at work and my son told me he can never get it right so i had to try myself! Thanks for a great to the point video!!
Thank you this helped because i grew up in a single mother household so this helped alot for me
Ty soooo much. Most videos start with the cap off. But I needed to know how to get the cap off. Ty Thank You. 😊
Yes, I'm so excited.. I finally see simple and clear.. I split my knee wide open last summer, trying to figure this out. much Appreciation ❤ accidently hit the power button ... 😅
Thank you, this was simple and straightforward, exactly what I needed!
BEST VIDEO EVER FOR A SINGLE WOMAN ....THX.
Thank you from a single mom.
Thank you!!! I’ve been fighting with this thing all evening and have been doing it so wrong 😂
Thank you Dave! The instructions are ridiculously tiny with 10 or 12 numbers and arrows and I certainly did not get these instructions from the diagram! Appreciate!
Thank you so much. My dad passed away and so the job of mowing the lawn and such has fallen to me. Unfortunately he never taught me how to use the weed whacker haha.
Thanks! Straight to the point and easy to follow
Hot diggity dog! I am 59 and first-time weed wracker and ran out of line! I bought some and now I know what to do! 🎉🎉🎉❤
Very clear instruction and explanation of all the parts/symbols
Thanks for the refresher. I usually am lazy and just buy prestrung spools.
I never understood where to "lock" the line in - I was trying those different size notches on the top ... it worked but not great! Thanks!
This made everything so easy to understand. Really appreciate it.
Thanks from this single, newly retired, empty-nester. My son didn't teach me this before he moved away. 😊
Thanks for this simple and quick explanation.
Best explain on ever!!!! Simplicity is the key.
I had a dad but he never did this and so I was never shown. Thanks for saving me from throwing my Weed Eater across the street in anger lol
THANK YOU!! The one you were using is exactly like the one I need to put a new weed wacker line in
After I wrap the line around the thing, it poofs out and is loose from the reel. Not sure what i'm doing wrong.
at 1:02 mine had that little slot to lock the line in place at one end.
Then you hold it as you feed the other end of the line through the hole at 1:36
Fabulous and super clear instructions. I think I've got it.
Thanks so much for your detailed instructions…easy to follow, worked like a charm😉
THANK YOU SO MUCH. IVE BEEN SO CONFUSED, this seriously helps so much.
Thanks dude.. I have a two way spool but this helped me at least figure out the idea.. I dunno why this knowledge evaded me but I’m grateful for the video!
In less than one minute 😊you taught me what I needed, many thanks
Thank you for getting straight to the point. I really appreciate it! 😊❤
Thanks for the help! You explained everything perfectly! 😊
Simple and to the point, thank you
I watched a couple videos. Yours was the best by far! Thank you:))
Thank you! My dad and brother wouldn't help so I found another man to help me haha
Thank you very much! I'm first timer trying to replace that originally came with the trimmer.
Very convenient that we have very similar weed wackers
I'm your new followers. I love the way you explain it.😊😊
Muchas graciasssss!!!
Me salvaste, porque tengo una infracción del condominio donde vivo por mi hierba alta
Very clear instructions--thanks for posting.
Thank you man for this great video! It got me back right.
Thank you so much. Now I know why my line keeps coming off. I've been threading it wrong all this time. 😲😲
Very helpful demonstration! Thank you to a good man!
This was great and incredibly helpful. Thank you.
😮 You are the absolute best. Quick and easy to follow. Subscribed right away. Thanks for the video ❤ 💙
Wow 😮 this was a great help thanks so much for sharing! 🤞🏾
Thank youuuuu! 🙏🏾 I’ve been doing it wrong for months 😂
Thanks! I feel manlier now after watching this video.
Than you SO much! The little lock notch is what I missed!!
Really easy to follow. Thanks!!!
Awesome thank you I never owned one before I didn’t even have a lawn up until this year
Glad I found this I never had anyone teach me this
Omg thank you!!
Thanks bro I wasn’t sure about the little hole in the spool
Thank you so much. Mine is so old. Cap kept coming off and line unwinding. I'm not hearing it click when putting spool in. I think it's time for a new one.
Thanks this helped a lot. Not having a dad to teach you stuff , this type of s*** comes in handy.
Get a second spool or cartridge, load it and set it aside. Not only will you have one ready to go when you need it, but the line will relax in that winding direction and be easier to use. After finishing your yard trim, load up the empty spool so it can be ready for whenever you need it.
I decided to try without my dad (i forgot how ti do it midway through) i found your vid and now im not nearly as dumb
This saved me!! I have really been struggling with this 😅 thank you!!
Dude, you saved my life! Thank you for this video!!
Thank you this was really helpful
Excellent video thanks for sharing this one. Now I think I can do this and get to work.
