    Maybe the most boomer-ish video I ever saw on you tube. How do I know? It was extremely thorough and left no stone unturned. How many videos do people tell you to take a connector off but don’t show you the trick of releasing the connector….which can be a big deal. Nicely done. The young bucks of today should take note of how to do these right!

    I must have watched this video 10 times already but I'm still afraid to do this. The guy on the video has such a soothing voice and the instructions are so crystal clear. The camera work is awesome. Maybe one day I will grow a pair and try this myself. Shucks.Let me stop lying, I will be at the corvette shop paying an expert like him. Pulling out those connectors requires precision and patience. I lack both. I'll get frustrated and just yank the damn thing out. Extra $2000 to get a new connector. God Bless the CorvetteHop people. They make it look so easy but a man has to know his limitations. That dude probably would have made a great surgeon on top of doing this kind of work.

    I want to thank the hero's at CorvetteHop for making such as excellent video. Today, I actually installed my new carbon dash on my own. LET ME MAKE THIS PERFECTLY CLEAR. This would not have happened if it wasn't for this video. I live in NYC so I saved roughly $1,000-1200 a in labor costs at very least. I have butter fingers so this is an amazing feat for me and I owe a great debt of gratitude to the guys at Corvette Hopp. 30 days ago I wrote that I could never do this but CorvetteHop made me a believer. Readers you will never have a true appreciation for the work that went into this video until you try doing it yourself. The step by step instructions provided by these gentlemen helped me take the leap. Please note that you will also need to get instructions on how to swap the electronics from your current dash to the new one. You will need a 5 star tamper proof Torx 20 bit to do that. For help on transferring the electronics go here. ruclips.net/video/QnImyKzMAxQ/видео.html. I was able to get this done over the course of 2 days because I had a few struggles but I would say this job would take a novice like me 6-8 hours total. Just follow John's steps and you will be good to go.I would strongly suggest listening to CorvetteHops videos for all your mods.

      I meant every word. I was the guy who commented here 30 days ago that I could never do something like this. i was wrong. I saved a ton of money in the process and gained confidence that I don't always have to spend lots of money to get things done. Somethings I can do on my own with a little help from my friends at CorvetteHop. LOL You guys did an HBO. HBO=Helped a Brother Out. God Bless.

    Great video on dash removal, thanks!!!! You may want to mention that once you get the dash off, in order to swap all components over to your newly painted/hydro dipped dash piece you'll need a tamper proof 5 point star bit to get the climate controls out of the dash bezel... I failed to do this research when I did mine, and the car sat in the garage until amazon could deliver my set of bits. Tamper proof torx bits are rather common, but not the ones that GM decided to use.

      Bob, tell me about the problem you had with your screen and where did you get the replacement cable? Part number by chance?

    • @bobwomack135
      @bobwomack135 4 года назад

      @@TheWhatisright The screen went black about two weeks ago. Sometimes when I lowered it I could see the Corvette logo flags light up and the radio worked, just could not see any of the touch buttons on the screen, but when I touched where my stations were it would change...so I figured the screen was OK and the HMI module was working too. Saw the video post when the left wire was touched it would light up. Then on corvette forum there is a post at www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-general-discussion/4213181-infotainment-screen-flickering-cheap-fix.html#post1598347854
      . It shows the cables and a vague way of fixing it. The cable is a YCS Basics Black 6 Inch USB 2.0 USB Mini B Male to USB Mini B Female Cable....located at amazon at : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5HSA3Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      You need to get panel removal tools from Harbor freight for about $7. Then you need to watch videos on how to remove the dash and take apart the console on youtube. ruclips.net/video/SlG75ze2Udc/видео.html and another good one is ruclips.net/video/hCxT7y-TKIc/видео.html. Watch them both several times.
      You will have to take the infotainment screen module out of the car to repair it. That is not explained in these videos or posts. There are 6 screws that hold it in and then you have to unplug a USB cable at the top and the two video cables at the bottom, one is black , the other white. Those were hard to take apart. Then there is another multiwire cable on the left side that supplies power. You have to take off the front bezel of the screen itself and then pry back the tab between the wires. As you are looking at the screen you need to unplug the blue cable on the far left and then I had to break off the female end of the old cable where it attached to the module... I ended up using contact cement and a touch of hot glue to attach the female end of the new cable back on the module. Once you have the new cable plugged into the screen I took a large slot screwdriver and pushed the plastic tab back down in place the best I could. I also installed a screen protector while I had it out.
