I am the same age as nanny Di, and I really agree she needs to do a de- clutter! Falls are nastier at our age and loose rugs and stuff on floors are not worth the risk! It's hard to do this because it's our memories that we squirrel away. It wasn't an easy decision, but feeling safe is much better than hoarding, it is a wrench but I enjoy living more simply than before and I've even de-cluttered my wardrobe! ps I am still a bit of a hoarder, but a girls got to do something!!!
No offence to anyone but I've often thought nanny di flat looked a hazard waiting to happen,it's too cluttered with stuff,wouldn't she consider minimising it a little Xx
@@Little_Lady_GCT I'm not sure a bigger place would be the answer as i bet she would buy more stuff lol,I understand it wouldn't be easy to let go of her books & nik naks but the way the books are literally stacked up in piles is a accident waiting to happen,there's ways to keep things but in a more organised way x
Nanny Di is probably very set in her ways. Mark must insist that she removes those rugs, terrible trip hazard. If there was ever a fire in that flat she would have such trouble getting out safely!

Mark!! Whether she likes it or not, u need 2 get someone in at nanny di's 2 put up book/general shelves/cupboards 2 free up floorspace. Also put down carpet where lino is. She will fall again & again if u don't. I love my nanny di.💖💗🥰

The troops have spoken. Would Nanny Di accept help from the family to "vamp up" her flat for the coming new season? As an aged care specialist this is what she needs or the next time she may not be so lucky. The skin tear on her elbow and all the bruising mean she'll be mighty sore tomorrow but she didn't knock herself out or do a hip in. She is a wonderful soul, stubborn too which is good really but you are going to have to convince her. She is far from silly so she will appreciate your putting her high on the list of things that need doing. Love from country Australia. X.

I'm sorry but those mats have got to GO they are death traps.. My mother started falling when there were rugs on the floor and now, I do the same TAKE THEM UP AND CHUCK THEM OUT... PLEASE.... I really felt bad for Nanny Di too Selina. I think this was filmed a few weeks ago I can remember some mention of a trauma. It’s hard to watch someone distressed without being able to hug them x
I’m sure you know what’s best for Nanny Di and she loves her independence but I would have had to stay with her for the night and not leave her alone,she just looked so alone
Age 70 I trod on a piece of my granddaughters Duplo and then fell into a large bag of it. Massive bruise at the time and a slight graze but it refused to heal and now ulcerated. I am now faced with weeks of dressings etc. Very important for Nanny Di to get those grazes on her arm looked at I wouldn’t like her to go through what I am going through , five weeks later my leg is still very bad and very painful. When we get older our skin is very thin and fragile.

I worry about u in the flat alone .. lots of love and please be careful. xx Mark u need to try and put foot down with her and get the flat organised so it safer for her (however I know very hard with an independent strong lady... my Mum was same) but we all need looking after sometimes xx
to many danger hazards o floor mark I worked in a old ppl home and the amount of independent elderly ppl who end up in there from falls small pieces of carpets that they trip over its not worth it threw the things on floor away for safety

Hi guys I really hope nanny Di is ok trouble is when you get older you bruise easy and it takes longer to heal I think she might need to get rid of the rugs sometimes they can be a bit of a hazard

I am sure of course Mark and Nadia would have Nanny Di live with them if she wanted I think she just prefurs her own space and they respect that.

Nanny Di could have some self adhesive carpet tiles on the walkway areas, so you wouldn't have the mammoth task of moving furniture in order to put carpet down. If the rugs are sentimental, she could have them as wall hangings. Sending love. x
Poor Nanny Di. This is sometimes the trigger for people to change their habits and get someone in to help (often it is easier to get someone who is not family to help). Maybe just organise initially and change the rugs as opposed to her worrying someone is coming in and decluttering everything in one go. At apdo.do.uk they have people who will work with anxiety and not rush anything and understand the need for keeping memories but also work to make a safe place. x
