Best way to save money on the AVS: figure out exactly what you want and get those components. Also: if you’re not going to get the harness, save some money and get a JPC 2.0 or SPC.
Exactly! The AVS is a good system wether you buy it in pieces all at once e or you go with the jpc / spc over the AVS.
Fax. Don’t get the AVS as a traditional PC
@@LegionPreparedness SPC for the win. Absolutely love mine.
@@DZ4295DBW I’ve been held up in getting mine.. but shouldn’t be too long and I’ll get one. Cryes customer service isn’t good right now they have been giving me issues with shipping I’m about to start a dispute with them due to the crye not changing the shipping address and it getting sent back to them from an APO
@@LegionPreparedness God damn, guess I should be glad I bought mine from a NG dude out of Wyoming haha.
Take a shot every time he says "Take that into consideration."
🤙🏻 I try to not say that as much but Atleast you be feeling good by the end of the video
I tried it and died of alcohol poisoning
@@Johnathan.F lol
I will take that into consideration
I will take this into consideration 🙂
I will take this into consideration
LOL ;) thanks.. verbage is always a work in progress.
took it under consideration ill buy a CPC instead
@@jordancypihot496 that’s a phenomenal pc
Dude you should do a video reviewing/comparing cheap (
Pat ! What’s up dude ! I’ve thought about it and it would turn into a rage vent about how some companies just don’t truly care and they’ll say anything to sell products that cost just as much as high quality products
So... Should I take that into consideration?
Absolutely
@@LegionPreparedness haha really though, I greatly appreciate the video 👍
Great review!
Thanks!
I think you deserve a subscribe! Thanks for the video !
Thanks man I appreciate that
Excuse the dumb question but how do you run it without the harness? Do the plate bags come with shoulder straps?
I'm going to be a doing a teardown and base line setup here in the near future I've been traveling and running around the past couple months so I'm hoping I can get it done here by the end of the month
I guess I’m not tracking what the advantage is of the harness. Other than being more comfortable? I have one that was issued... trying to dial it in.
Most of the guys I know don’t use it. They prefer to run the entire system without the harness. To an extent the harness is nice and you can feel it distributing the weight a little bit however. The bulk it adds isn’t really worth it to a lot of guys I know
Check out Direct Action Gear also.
I’ve had a few of their products in the past I’ll be putting a few things together for them as well I am very interested in their product line up
So the MBAV pouches are designed for soft armor and hard armor right? What cut of plate goes in them?
Yes and any plate cut
Thanks for the video! With your recommendation for the swimmer cut bags, do you know how well they would fit 12.5x9.5 and 1.2" thick SAPI cut Hescos?
I don’t think you’ll have any issues with hesco plates in the plate bags. Might be a tight fit just make sure you check the plate bag size on the website for what plate dimensions they will accept. That should be a medium though
Thanks for the sub too
Can you buy that strap that’s keeping the harness attached to the plate carrier. Because mine didn’t came with it
I would imagine .. I would call crye to deconflict any issues their customer service usually picks up
So are you able to put issued SAPI plates in a Swimmer Cut carrier?
Yes you should be able to it may be a tight fit but I have one buddy that does have esapi plates in the swimmer cut
So the only part im confused about im new to the plate carrier stuff the different plate bags, do they all take different plate sizes or is there like a standard size of plates?
So you’re typically going to have three plate sizes which are roughly small 8x11 medium 10x12 & large 12x14. From what I’ve seen the industry is trying to standardize the 10x12 but it is to big for some people with a smaller torso and you’ll see it really highlight itself when they are trying to shoulder the weapon. You’re also going to have different cuts like flat, single curve, and multi curve, and then you’ll also have shooters cut and swimmers cut. The difference is the swimmers cut is more narrow at the top of the plate.
@@LegionPreparedness ohhhh ok thank you for replying
Which do you think is better. Harness or axl micro harness?
Idk ive never seen that before. I'll hit up EODFISH and have him answer he may know. It looks like a solid system to me though. I'll get in touch with AXL and ask them for more details about it though
Dylan, do spend much time under a ruck? Do you need to use the harness for the AVS specific pouches? Which ever you answer yes to will tell you which way to go. The harness sucks under a ruck.
Whats going on brother - med harness for us bigger dudes? 225 lbs plus? intel Is those harnesses run big AF - good brief on the PC btw
They can definteiy rub. I always took mine out and ran it more like a JPC. Personally I would just buy the components that you want and build it rather then buy the complete plate carrier. I think you'd be happier with the end result
@@LegionPreparedness no worries.- the harness is a very attractive component, being a bigger guy would you recommend buying according the the Crye sizing or go with the "preferred" purchase? (Med harness/LG plate bags etc) - From what ive been reading the harness runs huge like - thanks again brother
Ummm….why is your carrier so clean? I mean all the different mission sets and duties you have?
Hahaha 🤣 I was waiting for someone to ask this! I don’t use the AVS any more I sits in a box. I’ve been issued 3 or four over the past couple years now. I used it initially till I bought the jpc, then I got issued another for a cqb course and wore it because it was required, deployed with another. This is the newest one I’ve ever gotten and I don’t run it because I have the TYR picco and the s&s That I prefer to use over this system.
@@LegionPreparedness Ever thought about selling them
No I don’t know how involved I’d want to get into retail. Maybe in the future as the business grows. I have an alternative plan for selling gear. If I get into retail I’ll probably stick to selling consumable items that have to be restocked.
I am about 185-190 thinking of buying size Medium, would I fit size Medium? Is there a good stretch to it? Thanks!
Yes I think a size medium would be a good fit. I don’t think this system stretches that well it just a little bit not as much as I would like. For the money I would honestly push you toward the ferro. You’ll save a little and better pc imo
Just ordered Multicam Black AVS😂
