To all the people who are here before their surgery, I was in a very similar boat as you. I underwent surgery in sept 2023, as of today, jan end 2024, I have regained most of my movements, and the problem has gone away completely. What remains is regaining the previous strength, and I am undergoing an exercise regimen for that and future looks hopeful. I am thankful to my physician. Choose your physician wisely and once you are in good hands, this surgery works wonders. Do remember you have to work through the initial pain post surgery, but it’s all worth it in the end. What helped me during the “pain days”, was not skipping the exercise(it was light opposing forces exercises, where you put pressure on your muscles but don’t move your limbs), and it made everything easier. And of course family members, who cared and stood by my side. I wish you all the best.

@@FunkyXF pretty well, i’m 2,5 months post-op and I almost have full ROM (i’ll take me about 3/4 weeks for that). Lots of pain first 2 weeks (get a shoulder ice pack from amazon) and lots of swelling. Started PT a months afterwards, I’m a PT and coach as well so I kinda know what to do (also from my previous surgery) so I only went like 1/2 days per week but worked rom exercises everyday at home. First month was all ROM work and muscle treatment and then moved to light exercise with bands and little weights. I now have my own training program, and keep going like once a week to PT and other day a colleague helps me at home. I exercise almost everyday. @@1ukasvn thanks bro! Yea im also doing lots of fitness, mobility and coaching on my own. Right now im 4 weeks post dislocation and im having full rom without a feeling of instability. Before my last bankart fix i was completly untrained and the shoulder was unstable af Im trying to resolve it with PT first and use the latarjet as last resort as i don’t want to do it until i have sub or luxations in my daily live but i guess at some points i will have to do the jet. Keep me updated and i hope your getting back to before asap!
Just had this surgery 5 days ago! The pain is honestly not bad at all and I’ve dwindled down in the intake of pain medication already. So far so good, I’ll keep you posted on the progress!
Hey guys sorry for the late response! But so far so good! My movement is about 85-90% but it’s good for my day to day life still. There are a few kinks I’m still working out with strength and mobility. I do have some numbness still in spamming from my pectoral, around my shoulder and down my bicep but it doesn’t seem to be too much issue. Hit PT hard and you’ll be golden!
@@AadithyanAppusyou probably lose like 5-15% range of motion in certain flexions some better than others , the surgery is risky but for excellent results of recovery and rehabilitation is followed to the T
got like ten dislocations and always returned the arm back on place alone. couldn't stand it anymore. Now is one month since the surgery, pretty early but it feels a lot better, TG
I’ve had 7 dislocations , one Labrum repair 4 years ago and two weeks ago I dislocated my shoulder again doctor recommended this surgery as a last resort. Getting this procedure done in two weeks
@@TheInmortalVerse I’m on week 3 . First night was horrible I was admitted into the hospital for the night and discharged the next morning. Meds helped alot . Pain is manageable after a couple days. 3 more weeks on the sling to go. I do feel a difference on my shoulder ! Thanks!
@@TheInmortalVerse Oh yes the labrum surgery was less much painful , I had little to no pain when I got it I was cleared within 3 months by the doctor and returned normally
I’ve had this surgery on my right shoulder and it helped me tremendously on returning back to sports, I’m a competitive jiu jitsu athlete and I also train mma too, I can do everything I need to now and of course lost some range of motion but that’s the sacrifice you make and it was worth it as I still have enough range of motion to stretch, reach grab for anything, unfortunately my left shoulder has popped out during training now a couple times and I’m trying to get myself on waiting list to get the same surgery again on the left shoulder this time, I’m only 23 and so it’s really young to be getting a second surgery but that’s how must trust I have in the procedure as from experience I know it’s reliable, it’s much better than dislocating the shoulder or sublux the shoulder everytime you put pressure on it or over extend it’s a pain in the ass I’d rather lose some range of motion and have good leverage of the shoulder without pain xoming
@@ibbygtf 7-12 months brother, you have to take it serious lots of rehab and strength building, also takes a lot of mental toughness to allow yourself to put your arm is certain positions again, but the surgery is perfect my arm never popped out since and I feel a lot stronger and more comfortable grappling now
@@ibbygtf what did your mri show that they offered the procedure? I have anterior instability for a long time but mri was not bad.Shoulder is still terrible.

This is an incredibly painful surgery. I’m currently in week 2 of recovery and physical therapy is essential for of course movement but also pain management

Getting a tightening surgery in a few days. Not this one but the other one. Wonder how painful that's gonna be. They gave me oxycodone and it kinda makes me worry. Kinda just hope I can still play warzone when it releases in a week lol
To anyone scared about this : It's 100% worth it. Did my left shoulder when I was 17, rehab took 6 months haven't dislocated ever since despite doing a healthy regimen of sports. On my way to doing my right one as well.
I had a Latarjet operation on my shoulder joint, I have been doing a lot of exercises for 7 years now, but my shoulder has not recovered very well, movement is limited.
@@bigsmoke2558 I lost some external rotation but it does feel a lot more stable. Since my surgery I've been able to bench press 265lbs, overhead press 135lbs and dead lift 400lbs. The only exercise that commonly inflames my shoulder is side planks.
@@msmike101 others may not perceive a difference between the two in size but I can feel a difference in strength when it comes to curls. no pain or anything like that, just a few less reps (maybe 2-3) compared to my other arm with the same weight.
@BSpears it’s been 3 days post surgery was ur bicep in pain after surgery there is extreme pain when flexing my bicep and i feel like the actual bicep muscle has moved down my arm or It could be swollen at the bottom end
I'm 9 weeks from surgery, first 3 weeks were bloody awful and if I didn't use tramadol the pain would've kept me awake at night. Still now it's sore and weak and my surgeon recons it's going to be a minimum of 6 months before im over the surgery. Back to work as a decorator though and look forward to getting back into the gym and back into boxing. I hope my shoulder is going to be a strong as I hope from the op 🤞
Just had mine done 2 weeks ago it’s still in the sling but when I take it out to shower. It’s sorta clunky and pops around did you experience anything like this?
@@finessekid6684 I've just passed the 3 month mark mate and it's still a long road ahead! Still incredibly sore on and off although I do have a full range of motion now and can lift very light weights to slowly build the strength up. Gong to be ages before I can go boxing or hit the gym properly. I never got a clunky feeling.. it was just very painful for the first month. I still now get a click though just like before! Hope your recovery goes well! Just don't expect to much to soon like I did 😅 it's a very slow and long recovery unfortunately pal!
@@nigeltan397 yes it started to fade away around week 4-6.. I almost have full range of motion all around except for my exterior rotation. Just got cleared to start with light weight a couple weeks ago.. I’m little over 3 months post op.. just keep up with ur pt everything will be good brotha.
@Mianusamasadiq-us9rx for the first week it was very painful, was on hydromorphone. It felt like my shoulder was going to fall off my body.... Sleeping was difficult, I need up not staying with my original bed set up and used about 15 pillows and a rocking chair and foot rest but put it reverse and used the foot rest for my makeshift pillow fortress and chair for my feet to be able to sleep . I set up. Projector and game console to keep my fingers moving, after a couple days you will have more pain in your elbow rather than your shoulder due to lack of movement. When your able to take your sling off it will feel amazing. After a few weeks to a month it's good to start doing light movements to get range of motion back, this process will take TIME. I did not go to physio I acquired rubber exercise weight bands and did little daily. Do NOT push or you will definitely hurt yourself for days. Ice machine will be your best friend. I was getting bags 6 of ice almost daily..... I suggest frozen water bottles, 4 at a time fit perfectly, change every 2-4hours so keep a 24 pack in the freezer The first few weeks I didn't turn off the machine... . When shoulder heated up it got really painful. Current condition is amazing I have full range of motion, can life over 50lbs over my head with one hands. I need to get my other shoulder done in the next 10 years and I will not hesitate to get the procedure My shoulder is now STRONGER THAN EVER. I never worry about the pain of dislocation again! Occasionally it gets sore in the cold but that's from the screws

@@DiscoverTworld Hey man ! I feel pretty good. I almost recovered all my range of motion. The external rotation and hyper flexion (arm straight behind my head) still hurts me a bit. I can do a few pushups on my knees and lateral raises almost without pain. I still have to wait 1 more week to start strengthening again my biceps. My physio is pretty good even though I feel like I’m not doing enough proprioception at all and not even rotator cuff strengthening. But I do it myself at home. How about you mate ?

@@craigd2352 yes it is weird. If latarjet is done correctly with the two screws and bones healed together you have basically a wall with screws so you must have a really heavy pounding in the joint.
@@simone9945 yep although when I try to externally rotate my shoulder and it reaches its limits I know if something pushed it further I may do damage so I assume that’s what’s happened to this guy, and if it broke the corcoroid in another dislocation ouch I’d bet that hurt
@@craigd2352 you can't break the coracoid but yes it's the same for me. The screws they put block the joint so externally I'm slightly blocked too but it's the goal of surgery to block the joint from popping. This guy must have had a serious injury I suppose.

I suffered from repeat dislocations after an accident and this surgery alongside labrum anchors have been the best thing for me.

which muscle/tendon did they transfer in this procedure? Was your internal rotation strength affected? And can you do shoulder presses?

Can I remove the nails or will it hurt me if I remove them from the shoulder? I hope for an answer.

I dislocated 7 years after Latarjet and got a Remplissage 3 weeks ago. So there is everything done now what´s possible?
Did that remplissage help? What does it feel like after having it done? Did it cause any infraspinatus weakness?

With Latarjet? You have literally a wall in front of the shoulder, how did it happen?
@@simone9945 most likely had another freak accident, that’s usually how people with laterjet get a recurrent dislocation,
