Everyone nitpicking and complaining about exposed electrical conduit and other little details are failing to see the bigger picture here. This is a HUMUNGOUS leap forward in creating affordable housing. Forget the first house shown and focus on the smaller units shown at the end. Listen to how much they cost. The 2-2 is only $75,000. That means you can buy a house with a personal loan instead of a mortgage. As this method becomes more prevalent, and more competition enters the market, prices will drop even further.
    This is a game changer

If all the houses around them cost $400,000 then these houses will sell for $300,000...the COMPANIES reap the rewards, THE CONSUMER will pay the same because of supply and demand/competition. In a perfect world your theory is sound. But in reality we will never see the benefits of this technology other than worse housing manufactured cheaper, lowering the standard of living until THATS the norm, and then they'll start selling cardboard boxes as the next "budget home"

As an electrician, all of the pipe in a house just looks completely weird, of course I know why it had to be like that.. I wonder if it’s a nightmare wiring a house like that and if it costs a lot more due to all of the extra time for piping. Beautiful home though!

I was having the exact same thought. Before adding the the foam create in the middle of the walls, they could have left holes for dropping down metal conduit to each socket and switch. Dude the echo from the light switches is INSANE. Surface mounting and piping just for a light switch is insane. Wall texture is nasty and is guaranteed to be a dirt magnet and impossible to clean. God forbid you accidentally brush against the walls and rip your clothes. Not to mention if you ever need to do a single repair on the wall you either fill it with concrete that will never match the rest of the texture and make it uglier OR you remove the whole wall, the roof and 3D print it all over again. This place is a maintenance nightmare.

id have concerns. if grandma or who ever loses control of their car and wipes out a wall is the house a total loss? what happens when they settle. if the walls crack itll look like crap. it appears theres already a crack upper right corner of the garage door. its a cool concept but i wonder how theyll hold up 5-15 years down the road. i guess you could sheet rock over if you wanted to remodel. the outlet and conduit reminds me of a 1980's face block commercial building. just my opinion. opinions are like buttholes everybody has one. im just not sold on it. i like my traditional stick built full brick with the warm feel of harwoods and carpet. guess im old fashion.

These are small trade-offs for experimental affordable housing. Those smaller units they were showing at the end, the largest one only cost $75,000! Imagine buying a 2-2 HOUSE for $75,000 in 2024?! For the cost of a down payment on a Home Depot McHouse (not even a McMansion), you get a whole damn house. I’ll put up with exposed conduit and regular maintenance for that price. Hell, if something goes wrong down the line, you can knock the whole thing down and build a new one with just a personal bank loan, not even a mortgage.

I agree. I am glad you pointed this out. The kitchen was placed in a dark corner and feels completely separate from the rest of the house. The stairs entrance to the 2nd story is facing away from the front door. The flow is all wrong as soon as you walk in the house. Neat concept if it provides more affordable housing. Just not exactly my cup of tea.

love it! Right now it may not be standard but every great technology has birth and growing pains... I feel like a concrete house will last 200 - 400 years vs a wood/sheetrock house. I, for one, am excited to see where this tech takes us and what innovations will come to be as the industry grows and matures.

I believe most of the negative comments your channel gets is from age old construction industry and its agents.
We need more of 3D printing in construction. Also am very intrigued by that ICONs new robot on steer with huge crane hand!
I would like to see bots like that build AI inspired architectural wonders that don’t look regular boxes.
I believe if you can commission 10 such projects, you can easily break even and profit as a start up in this industry!

That’s RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE for the SIZE OF HOUSE. I literally built a 2,950 (livable space) sq/ft house (w/ attic also framed out for a 2nd open master & bathroom increasing size to 3,850 (livable) sq/ft - ALL w/ the HIGHEST GRADE FINISHES & upgrades of $45,000 to the kitchen, master bath & massive wall-in closet, mother-in-law suite, & primary guest bath (it’s a 4br/ 4.5 bathroom) - for $112/sq ft. That’s $330,000; then it became $375,000 w/ the added 45 all high-end lighting fixtures, including chandeliers in all said baths, walk-in showers w/ rain showers & body jets, 6’ laying down interior whirl-jet tub in master as well, & every upgrade to kitchen possible. For the price you’re charging I could do (effectively) 2 of my homes in Auburn, AL. SO NOT WORTH WHAT YOU ARE CHARGING FOR YOUR HOUSE; IT’S NEAT, BUT IT’S NOT WORTH ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THAT IN PRICE OR AESTHETICS… “hey pay $700k to live like you would in an old building w/ exposed industrial fixtures & zero modification ability beyond what I thought of.” BIG NOPE. Hope you get your money back on all this before housing market falls back to earth.

I really hope that one day I can live in a house with better soundproofing than a wood-framed house. It's quite awkward to hear people in the first-floor bedroom "rocking their bed" while I’m in the second-floor bedroom. Also, on the other day, I was doing sit-up in my bedroom, people thought I was having sex with someone......
So, I guess 3D printed house is the way.
