At first I thought this was made in the original game, that’s how accurate this game looks to the originals, I’m very interested to see the future of this fan game!
Just as you say at 5:30, I really don’t get why Activision haven’t picked up on the idea of a Crash game in the style of Mario Maker. It would sell so well.
Played a bunch of this. It's an extremely impressive recreation and has huge potential. Especially given it only took a month. It's so fun to mess around with the editor and the levels provided are also pretty fun as well. I will say it definitely needs work. I've encountered plenty of bugs, especially with the enemies. The controls are almost there, but they need some tweaking as well. Not a fan of the Uka Uka double jump. Though it is an interesting idea. Hopefully it'll keep receiving updates. :)
I have noticed with the "double jump" that it has minimal forward momentum, which never feels good when implemented into a platformer. They should consider changing that so that it doesn't do that and instead maintains whatever momentum you originally had.
@@greatsageclok-roo9013The original Crash 1 and 3 had a bit of momentum, while Crash 2 had none of them. They could make it an option on the level editor to just have more options to mess around.
There's definitely a lot of little things where you can definitely tell that it's a Unity game (the font over the level portals probably being the most obvious one), but for a small fangame done by a super small team this is still pretty impressive.
Thanks for liking the music! The music on the flashback tapes is still a custom song, though borrowing the same instruments and many melodies from the N.Tropy theme, making it pop out a bit more than in the original :)
Woah, it was really amazing to see you remake the level in your own NST editor, I would personally love to see that behind the scenes video. Thank you for trying this out and showing it to a wider audience!
15 seconds in and the way you off-hand the *that game* is pure genius! Really says a lot when a fangame is more interesting than an upcoming AAA release.
I must say, this does look very promising, especially the level editor part! I would also love to see that video about recreating your level in your level editor :)
I feel like this level creator (although only 2D) was much needed for a long time. I remember spending a lot of time as a kid drawing my own levels for Crash Bandicoot with secret gem routes (including bonus rounds and time trial versions lol) and always hoped I'd make them real at some point... So seeing this project makes my inner child happy! Although it might not take a long time before Activision shuts this down because copyright issues...
have they been shutting down fan-games though? I've never heard of a Crash fan game that was shut down, especially not one that's on this "smaller" scale..
Это просто великолепно! Сколько теплых сердечных воспоминаний....💚 Пару лет назад я думал что было бы классно если бы Крешу сделали новых уровней на базе старой игры)
@13:29 This scene reminds me of the dragon mini golf level in Rugrats In Paris, the P1 game I played the hell out of as a kid. It was my favorite golf level and I automatically love this level in this Very Real Crash Bandicoot game. 😂
I've got the best possible time on your level - 0 seconds. The trick is to avoid the Uka Uka mask, because the timer starts when you get that mask. If you avoid it - the timer never starts and you can finish the level with 0 seconds on the clock. I guess good design for these types of time trials would be to make a jump/obstacle impossible to make without using the Uka Uka mask. Also, somehow I glitched the Uka Uka mask on your level - I don't know how it happened, I think I've got the mask and died at the same time, after I respawned, the Uka Uka jump has no cooldown and I could spam jump button infinitely and fly. Hilarious.
Using the furthest right ? crate you can clear the 3 Uka-Uka crates as well as the nitro and time crate, you can also jump inbetween the Nitros. Hitting the ! Nitro box will destroy the Uka-Uka crates and since you destroy them from afar you don't pick them up. So not only can you clear this level in 0 seconds, you can do it while destroying every crate too. v Also I found a glitch, where if you collect Uka-Uka and die at the same time you can do the double jump move infinitely instead of just once while in the air, so infinity jumps pretty much. You'll know it works when you see Uka-Uka with Crash's ghost. The first death the timer starts counting up after the time crate runs out, but after dying the timer doesn't go up, so another easy way to get a 0 timer. You can also use this to jump out of bounds and past the death plane so you'll continue falling indefinitely, when this happens the camera will move away from the level until everything vanishes leaving only the background and timer left. Hmm seems like when you jump the screen zooms back in on the map and if you stop jumping everything shakes up and down really fast, you can also kinda move the camera into the terrain a little. Anyway wouldn't recommend messing with the OOB too much since it's very glitchy. The infinite jump glitch only ends if you pick up an Uka-Uka mask or leave the level as far as I know.
Ok so more information on the glitch. It ends if you pick up an Aku-Aku Mask and if you die while collecting an Uka-Uka mask and you've activated a checkpoint it just gives you the mask when you spawn, well sometimes it's seemingly inconsistent when it does/doesn't happen I'd recommend people test around with it. Also testing around with a checkpoint under a nitro where crash dies while activating the checkpoint, maybe it's only if you destroy the checkpoint first but you can have it so Crash dies repeatedly, it's also incredibly jank one time I could live if I crouched, one time if I spinned, sometimes holding a direction would free me other times I'd just blow up, also recommend people investigate. Edit: For the example when if I spinned I wouldn't die, that only effected the first death, from then on I'd spawn crouched and I couldn't do anything but move and when I moved I blew up, and when respawning I'd face in the direction I'd moved.
I wonder if they are using a pill/capsule for the player collider. Could be why it seems like you barely slip and miss landing on a crate, maybe why you don't bounce on crates too. I think that's the default player collider in unity?
I almost never comment on these type of videos, but this game, you made, really does feel like a fever dream, that me stupid kid self would conjure up, during recess, or during class, when everybody would call me a hopeless Crash Fan.
I'd be interested to know long it took just to make the actual custom layout in your N. Sane editor. But i guess you didnt time that separately lol. Very interesting stuff. Kinda bummed that only 2D levels can be made with this game but it still looks good for what its trying to do. Looking forward to what comes next from both this fangame and your editor.
Amazing but theres just one thing that totally doesn't fit to this style... gems and particles after collecting them. They really should look like from CB2 and CB3
This is really promising, I enjoyed every bit, but it still needs some tweaks. I found some glitches and exploits (like the possibility to complete the 5th time trial without activating the timer etc.).
With the user created levels are you meant to have unlimited lives? Because in the 3d levels the life count went down when you died but in the user levels whenever I died the life count didn’t go down - not sure if this a glitch…
I wouldn't feel any blame yourself if this gets taken down. Fan projects often break due to 2 major mistakes. 1: Advertise it and talk about it before it is done. Months or years gives corporations time to be jerks. 2: The first person who records content of it. Once this happens that video is there and will gain popularity. The ship is already sinking, so letting more people know means it becomes harder for the ship to fully sink. People will escape and redistribute this if people know about it. There is hope because you're sharing this.
The resolution factor is such a great setting. The whole project is really impressive and music is pretty superb. And the first time I'm hearing about the new Crash game and after looking up trailers and gameplay I'm thoroughly disappointed... Just remaster Crash Bash ffs. This just makes me sad...
