If a player has more than 30 seconds left during song selection and they choose a song that they don't want to play, they can choose the option to go back, only when the timer is over 30 seconds.
Also the timer resets to 30 seconds after a player presses select between 0-30 seconds, not the timer immediately goes to 30 seconds after a song is selected.

2:29 Song selection is so difficult that they grant you extra time once you enter the All Music folder... They might as well have a printout of this diagram pasted right on the machine.

I will say that after playing World for a bit, the options menu I got used to (although annoying). I do hope that Konami changes (rather reverts back) the song selection concept since it's not only confusing when it comes to players who haven't played World yet, but it also eats a lot of time when selecting a song.

Having briskly seen some of the other Bemani rhythm games, I suspect they're same-ifying their rhythm games.

I think I can get used to this by just trying to quickly press buttons whenever I need to filter by x or y feature (level, abc, mix), but I have to say that this is a messy song filtering menu. They should at least add a feature that holding select will switch between manual filter (individually select your filters before moving on), and automatic filter (exits the screen and back to song select after picking one filter like we used to), so that at least they save some button presses like they did with switching between 0.05 increments with speed mods and 0.5 increments.

I wish I knew this yesterday lol. I went to play DDR thinking it was the normal game from before and got flash banged by all the new visuals and updates only to find I couldn't find any of the old music and all difficulty settings. As soon as it told me to enter my name again I was so confused as to what was happening

I figured out the filters in DDR World on my first credit (mostly because it's a feature I've wanted in literally every rhythm game song select), but I can see how this could be very confusing to literally anyone else. At a minimum they need to have level and mix folders, they could even organize the folders into groups (like Pump It Up does), and then those folders can just take you to a pre-filtered ALL MUSIC that you can further customize if you want.
Also they need to bring back class mode and nonstop courses. And folder lamps (which could be integrated with the filtering somehow). Maybe even that nostalgia mode that let you play with the old UI. And for the love of all that is good in the world can we group different charts under the same song so I don't see a bunch of Beginner or Basic charts I'm never going to play if I filter by mix?

There really are two things I don't like about WORLD. The first is folder completion. When a player doesn't have a notice on what accomplishment they have on a certain folder i.e. FC lamp or a Flare frame, it leaves goals confusing and pretty much aimless. Then again, maybe the problem is which of these goals would take priority over one another since the Flare system is a different type of scoring.
The second is how the music BGAs on songs are very tiny. Granted it's a whole lot less distracting, but I wouldn't mind being a little bit bigger and take up the empty space filter when playing on Solo Single. Like how DDR II does it.
But other than that, there's quite a lot to love in this version! Dare I say, KONAMI lowkey cooked this launch.

The music videos not being in the bg anymore while your arrow column is pitch black sucks. A ton of songs have fantastic videos, but are hardly seen anymore. It looks samey as you play world. That aside, I like it. I'm having a good time with it.

so what i dont like about World is the Layout to get to songs. its more buttons to find songs and the UI isnt really user friendly honestly.
Once you get use to all of that confusion, its not bad. its a start and its different. Timing feels better atleast for me since ive been getting better score recently. Can use flare skill anytime and a new flare setting where it starts at EX til flare 1 which is nice to help improve timing and stepping. Hope they update the UI alittle more!

Yea I don’t like how it’s a little harder to find songs. It’s weird. Cuz on the one hand you can choose the versions and stuff right. It is neater. However I feel like it’s many more steps. The old version. Just scroll up and select version and bam. But now you gotta select the song filter, then version, then select and unselect and yea it’s neater just a few more steps. Kinda annoying. With e-amusement it saves the versions you have already highlighted. But for new people I think it’s more work if you don’t have an E-card

The UI is clearly designed by someone who have not played the game before.
Mixing the same alphabetical order with different versions of game is a bad idea.
I had spent way more time than necessary to find the songs that I wanted to play.
Don't even want to talk about removing the groove radar.

People should be happy to play this game. For people who only have a dave and busters nearby can't even play it. Heck they're 2 versions behind. I would rather be confused with song selections than be behind 2 versions.
