Duane Allman never got to hear played. He recorded it and left the building and was killed in accident on his way home. No body could believe it.

1 of only 2 shows of this. wow you witnessed history. this venue was torn down and is now a park! I just went there a few months back for a Tampa Bay Lightning game and had no idea i was standing on this same spot

we were there...only one of two times duane joined them on stage...the sound may not be as good as some would like, but man, it is still bringing the memories back...and we're so lucky to have the show in full, even if it's rough, but, 1970-taping wasn't hitech yet! amazin' show ...i'll post my ticket stub here...$3.50...we flew from hotlanta to tampa and curtis hixon hall..12/1/1970... airfare: eastern airlines r/t $47.00

+charlie by god johnson great recollection of events that bring more to reconstruct of what that band was. maybe you remember more, like the ambiance, the vibes of that particular gig, opening act, tension or expectation before the main group jumped on stage, house sound (how loud), i don;t know. more little snips to recreate mentally what that possibly was. thanks.
Yes, cheaper but you were lucky to make $100/week. I saw the ABB at the Charlotte Coliseum in the early 70s for $7.50. I stood right up at the stage under Greg's keyboard. I'll never forget it--still in love with their music.
Me, my brother and friend were there too. There were only a few hundred people there, it was great, my friend recorded the whole concert, his father recorded over it!

What! Duane Allman PLAYED on the original Layla recording with Derek and the Dominoes/Eric Clapton. They did 2 live concerts only and one was at Tampa’s Curtis Hixon.
My 2 favorite guitarists and the 2 guitarists I consider the greatest to ever pick up a guitar on the stage together is one of life's great wonders. Man, to think of where Duane's playing would be if he had lived longer..Still blows my mind that his playing was already legendary in his 20's. Thank you for this recording. It made my day!!

I promoted this show for my producer, Phil Gernhard. Duane's guitar goes totally out of tune during this, the opening number. He had a kid hanging around backstage string it for him just as they started out. The kid had no idea how to wrap a string.
And his playing still gives me goosebumps, in or out of tune.

It's loud but then tones down to where you can hear him. Duane had the bright sounding tone, and played the higher lick. While Eric played the chords for the song then after Duane's solo joined in. His tones more mellowed down.

What was it recorded on? I use to bring my little Panasonic cassette recorder, Eagles, Yes and a compact reel to reel for Mahavishnu at the Bayfront Center, still have em, Will post someday!

Thank God that we have any recording at all, regardless of quality. Some one snuck a recorder into the show, some small POS recorder and gave us this gift.
