I really hope that HM King Charles III will allow the DNA analysis on the bones. It will not change history, but it could lay to rest the question of who they are.

@@wanagi006 There is an urn in Westminster Abbey - and I’ve been there - with the bones of two small children but it has never been verified that they are the bones of Edward and Richard.
Sorry it hasn't been confirmed that they are the bones of the Princes, just because there are two sets of children's bones, there has been no DNA analysis as of yet, that is why the Richard 111 Society asked the Queen if they could open the urn to examine with DNA expertise, she said no. We tend to forget that the Tower of London was a Royal palace and fortress. There would have been many people living there as guards, or servants etc. Between when the Tower was built and when the bodies where found about 600 years later, many people including children (kitchen boys, stable boys, pages etc) probably died there from illness or accidents. The bodies where found under a staircase, I assume it would have been s stone staircase and it can't be easy to just bury a body under a stone staircase. The bodies could have been the princes (though the ages are not quite right for the princes) but they could just as easily been those of boys who were part of the team building the Tower back in the 11th/12th Centaury. Unless scientific tests for DNA and/or dating tests are done, we have no way of knowing. I read somewhere that Queen Elizabeth II didn't want to open the door to people wanting to dig up her ancestors for DNA testing just because it was possible to do DNA testing. You can see her point!
They wouldn’t need to dig up anyone because they used still living descendants to identify Richard III. The same could be used for identifying the princes. There are people alive who are descendants of their mother’s relatives including myself. There are plenty of people who are descended from their mother.
@@ErinH-430 Sorry, obviously my comment wasn't clear. I'll try again. I have read somewhere that Queen Elizabeth was unhappy about the idea of opening this casket to do DNA testing on the remains, because she felt that it might set a precedent. In future people would want to open other tombs or coffins belonging to her relatives in order to do DNA tests for other reasons. ( For example there was a man who claimed to be an illegitimate child on George V born before he married. That mans decedents might try to get George V's tomb opened to do DNA testing in an attempt to prove that claim. This is my example, not something I have read about) In the case of Richard III, his remains were identified using DNA. It wasn't a case of disturbing a known burial site just to get DNA to settle a claim. For what it's worth. I would love for there to be DNA testing done on the remains in the casket, but I can also understand why Queen Elizabeth was unwilling to give consent.
@@jpr455 Had there been any means of identifying the bodies with a reasonable degree of certainty back in 1933, indicating that these were indeed the remains of the two sons of Edward IV, then Royal and Abbey authorities could deem the present urn and the bodies contained within as a "Royal" burial and that would be the end of it. Apparently those conducting the 1933 exhumation and forensic examination already assumed that the bodies were those of the princes and made no effort to establish identities (which would have been as problematic then as in the 17th century when the remains were found). The disappearances of Edward V and his brother are enduring historic mysteries, so this would not be some ghoulish fishing expedition. Remains were found which at least on the face are broadly consistent with Thomas More's account created some thirty years after the fact. @@baraxor Thomas More also said that some time after the bodies had been buried a priest was sent who dug them up and took them somewhere else. Presumably this would have been to bury them in consecrated ground. But that would mean that the bodies found under a staircase could not have been the Princes. We will probably never know. I would love for there to be a proper investigation of the remains in Westminster Abbey, but its unlikely that it will happen. From what we do know about when the bodies were found, the remains were thrown on a rubbish heap, then retrieved later. It sounds like finding 2 skeletons when doing building work was no big deal to the workman, so its not clear if if was common to find human remains. Nowadays of course finding human remains on a building site or an archaeological dis is a big thing and there are clear rules about the procedures to be followed. It was very different in the past. Its unlikely there is any way to find out if other stray bodies have been found in or around the Tower over the centuries.
It was the custom during the era in which the tower was built to inter living children in the foundations of buildings, it was often infants, but any orphan child would have been chosen, and older ones would have been drugged or knocked unconcious. Because of where the bones were found it has always been assumed that these are the bones of the Princes. Much of the story of Richard the third killing them comes down to us from Shakespere, who was writing under a Tudor Queen. People forget that it wasn't just Richard who would have benefitted if the boys died, Henry Tudor would have also, and no doubt he had his spies in Richard's court, just as Richard had his in Henry's. If the boys were murderded it is just as likely they were actually killed on the orders of Henry, to give him a clear run at the throne.
I've always thought that Margaret Beaufort had a hand in the disappearance of the princes as it would be more in her interests than Richards he'd already had the marriage of the boys parents declared invalid therefore making them illegitimate so unable to rule anyway so he had no reason to get rid of them, BUT for Henry 7 to bolster his claim to the throne he had to marry Elizabeth of York, who had also been declared illegitimate along with her brothers and sisters, for Henry to marry her he had to have her declared legitimate therefore if they were alive they would be a threat to his reign. Margaret Beaufort would stop at nothing to ensure her son got the throne.
The problem is that Richard IlI had a son and heir at the time of the princes' disappearence, not to mention that his dead brother's (George of Clarence) son also had a claim to the throne. Henry Tudor only surfaced as a candidate only after Richard was left without an heir or any hope of having one, that is after the deaths of his own son followed by that of his wife queen Anne. Unfortunately, historic fiction (particularly by a popular novelist) has spawned several conspiracy theories, most of them involving Henry Tudor and Margaret Beaufort.
Actually Sir Thomas Moore reported to King Henry VIII that they were murdered by order of their uncle Richard III. Shakespeare used that in the writing of the play
Two princes in the tower. They are never seen again. Two skeletal remains are found buried under a staircase. How many two-child remains have been found in a very obscure burial location in the tower? Conclusion: They are the princes...
Even having co-conspirtors for the murder would be difficult as the boys within the tower had many supporters and sympathizers. Getting the boys body out of the building was to risky as getting caught would mean death. And the tower had many guards. There were 9 guards atleast in ear shot of the boys with another 6 guards doing patrol rounds that could be near. Removing anything the size of a small body would have been met with investigation. So hiding the bodies in place and and placing discarded animal parts and food sounds like a one of the guards got a promotion. But couldn't remove the bodies.
We're not sure where the boys were being held in the Tower. One tradition holds that it was in the Garden (now Bloody) Tower, others contend that they had been moved to the White Tower after Richard's accession. If the latter is true then it would not have been a short distance to the Thames to dispose the bodies secretly.
The truth is , it is a mystery two children disappeared, and were probably murdered, do I think Richard had a hand in it ,NO . Do i believe his wife Anne Neville played a part in it Yes ,she held grudges for her families demise against Edward IV and his wife Elizabeth Woodville AKA The White Queen.(red rose of Lancashire, White rose of Yorkshire). These two houses later became aligned through marriage and became the Tudors.
Well,, how many children are said to have gone missing in the tower? Was it common to have children held in the tower? Are there records of others? The answers to these questions would definitely narrow down the odds of them being the princes.
The uncovering of historical treachery and the correction of the record seem worthwhile goals. If Elizabeth II had concerns about her own legitimacy there must be many other events of the last millennium that placed a person on the throne, by descent or violence. I can’t see her having worried about it one way or the other. Richard III’s remains have found a safe and permanent place. The young princes deserve as much in their turn.
No one knows who ordered their killing, if they were killed. Stories have unearthed that Henry spread the rumour which left the field clear for him to be king. I thought it had been decided that they were NOT the 2 missing boys?
Who else would they be, found buried under the Tower stairs?? Queen Elizabeth 2 refused to allow DNA testing, but really, who else would the children be? The two boys were in the Tower and then just vanished from the face of the Earth? Why and how were there two children buried under the stairs of the Tower where the two boys were held before they disappeared?
Exactly. If the boys' blood were on Richard III 's hands, he shortly received Divine karma at Botsworth. God avenges the wrongdoing against innocent children and His faithful. To sum it up....God won't let ugly go on forever.
If You Google search who murdered two princes it says James tyrell servant of king Richard their uncle & James tyrell confessed to murdering the 2princes before he was executed
Under torture you would say anything. Henry Tudor the usurper imprisoned him, then had him put to death. Of course he would as Tyrell was one of Richard 111 faithful knights. He also had poor poor Edward Earl of Warwick son of George Duke of Clarence, nephew of Richard 111 imprisoned and locked away for 14 years he was so afraid that someone an Plantagenet sympathiser might get him out and support his cause as he was next in line to the throne, after the Princes. Then he executed him at the age of 18! Henry Tudor also had Richard 111's bastard son John of Gloucester imprisoned and executed. Tudor was not a happy King, nervous and anxious for years. ⚔️🛡️⚔️

I’m currently working on a video on the whole life of the Princes and I theorise that one of them is in the Urn and the other is another child as one of them could have survived (maybe Richard, Duke of York). Plus to the fact that their disappearance was before the 6th of July 1483 and not later. But if the Urn is opened and if they are both the princes, then I will change my mind about it all
The refusal of DNA testing isn't surprising as that would open a can of worms due to all the evidence that shows both Edward & Richard survived but were later killed by the usurper Henry. Charles II seized on these remains to support the false tale told by the Tudors, the first Stuarts, and Shakespeare blaming Richard III. Interesting that Elizabeth II would not allow DNA testing due to the bones being supposedly royal, but allowed DNA testing on the bones of Richard III! Double standard? Not one of her best moves.
Determining whether or not the mysterious remains were or were not the Princes would have had no bearing on the legitimacy of Elizabeth II's claim to the throne. After the Plantagenets, the Tudors usurped the throne. (Henry VII was descended from two bastard lines.) Their dynasty lasted only three generations, passing to the Stewarts after Elizabeth I. After the Stewart's, the Hanoverians were invited in. That makes at least three breaks in succession between the Plantagenets and the Windsors.
Due to a supposed precontract with another woman prior to his marriage to Elizabeth Woodville. Today, we do not need to deal with precontracts, which did carry considerable weight at the time, enough to negate any marriage to another following such a contract being made.
They didn't just go missing they were seen playing on Tower grounds, and then they went missing. The late queen would not let an interred remains be unrested.
Such beautiful children.. how cruel does one have to be for the price of power? Greed is an evil thing. Jealousy is too. How did 2 little ones just magically disappear? They didn’t just vanish into thin air and no one could find where they went. I bet their last thoughts were terrifying. 😔💔😔 I’m an American, but this story has always saddened me. I can’t imagine what they went through. I hope they are together still and in a better place than where who hurt them ended up going. 🔥
For all we know the 2 princes could have been sent to France...they were Plantagenets after all. The two sets of bone could be of children of workmen who maybe couldn't afford a proper burial. We will never know.
First it’s never been confirmed that those bones are The Princes . They were not the only Royal Children that vanished in the Tower . ? There were also the Mortimer sisters under Henry IVth , Warbecks child under Henry 7th and Margaret Poles grandson under Henry 8 th . We do not even know if they were killed ? . There is a fair chance they went to Burgundy under the care of their Aunt ? . There is no way anyone can say they are the Princes . Even with DNA testing there are 5 other Plantagenet children who’s bones they could be or they could be the remains of child workers which is very probable .
Children of that age were very precious too as so many babies & young ones died from childhood diseases in those days. So to me that makes the killing of those children all the more terrible. Hatred, jealousy & the fight for power in humans is quite astonishing!
I lean more to the theory that the boys were alive and Henry the seventh had them killed. That seems to be the way of things when you’re dealing with a Tudor king or queen
If those remains are the Princes they should be buried with honor! Edward and Elizabeth are my grandparents so I do have a dog in this fight. Hopefully William will do the right thing one day and give these boys the right to be honored properly.
Did they re completly prove with these skeletons belongs the princes of the tower? I ever heard that King Charles III approved for proving with it. And what s going on?
Someone I don't know why the family The Descendants just won't allow a DNA test to be done and end it once and for all and set to rest what really happened to them
I believe that the bones in the urn are the prince and duke, but I also think that some of the young boys bones were left behind. Still resting amongst the dirt and rubbish under the step in the White Tower. Thankyou for reading
Apparently the Royal family does not want to set a precedence of doing DNA testing on members of the royal family. I’ve heard that IF they do testing on the bones in the Abbey and they are determined to NOT be the missing Princes, then who are they and would they then remove the bones from their current place in the Abbey because they are not the missing Princes? Basically, the current mentality is ignorance is bliss.
Actually, a document was found in the last 20 or so years in the Frenc church where Richard's older brother was born, and it does prove that the older son was illegitimate as Richard said, because the king was away from his wife for more than a year before Edward was born.
The princes weren’t murdered. A recent episode of the Secrets of the dead on PBS has debunked that theory. Turns out they survived and ended up in the Netherlands. Shocking and very interesting.
@@hannytierlierblaauw192 If nothing else, their mother, Elizabeth Woodville, was in contact with Margaret Beaufort and in support of her son Henry invading to defeat Richard III.

I never understood how Richard was able to say the marriage was not legitimate?
Due to a supposed precontract with another woman prior to his marriage to Elizabeth Woodville. Today, we do not need to deal with precontracts, which did carry considerable weight at the time, enough to negate any marriage to another following such a contract being made.
He used that as an excuse to stage a coup
Margate Beaufort and her son so they could bring in the Tudors
i think the bones should be tested for DNA.
PBS documentary states the Princes did not die in childhood.
check both locations such as the urn and unmarked coffins.
Thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The Royal family would not give consent for the grave to be opened
If those remains are the Princes they should be buried with honor! Edward and Elizabeth are my grandparents so I do have a dog in this fight. Hopefully William will do the right thing one day and give these boys the right to be honored properly.
How old are you ?
@@angelawalker8615Lol
They must be lots of grandparents back
T hought one was buried out on the grounds while another in the steps going up the tower. ???
After all everybody involved has been dead for a long time what did memories be laid to rest once and for all
How would it hurt the claim
Did they re completly prove with these skeletons belongs the princes of the tower? I ever heard that King Charles III approved for proving with it. And what s going on?
They also say that the duke was excuted when bus aunt vlaiked it was him
Hunh????? Is this supposed to be in English? It makes no sense. It's gibberish!
Someone I don't know why the family The Descendants just won't allow a DNA test to be done and end it once and for all and set to rest what really happened to them
Ever consider their sister snuck them out and they went to Spain to stay with their Aunt Isabella? Then off to the new world?
❤❤
Right Charlie, get your finger out as a matter of decency. .They were someone's child regardless of whose
Rude!
I believe that the bones in the urn are the prince and duke, but I also think that some of the young boys bones were left behind. Still resting amongst the dirt and rubbish under the step in the White Tower. Thankyou for reading
Umm, wasn’t he the King at that point, and why he likely was murdered?
How would it have weakendbher vlaom
How disappointing that Elizabeth 2 didn't advocate DNA tests. Its a family thing. Correct??
Positive or negative it should be known and shared 🙂
Interesting if true.
The princes weren’t murdered. A recent episode of the Secrets of the dead on PBS has debunked that theory. Turns out they survived and ended up in the Netherlands. Shocking and very interesting.
Highly unlikely.

@@hannytierlierblaauw192 If nothing else, their mother, Elizabeth Woodville, was in contact with Margaret Beaufort and in support of her son Henry invading to defeat Richard III. It would appear she was aware her sons were no longer alive. It's also difficult to believe they would have survived, lived in the Netherlands without anyone knowing, and decided to just forget about regaining their heritage.
Nothing can be debunked without proof, if we had proof of anything we would have answers 😊
