Well I liked them and knew them before he mentioned them, but he made me appreciate this song a lot more, but I like that he hace this banda a shoutout, they deserve a lot more attention than what they get

God that mixing gives it so much power! The vocals, the guitar slides, that half-naked ripped drummer, that half step breakdown near the end, those fuckin *bass tones* - I love Karnivool.

everytime you see a live performance like this on youtube there is ALWAYS someone that mentions something about shit mixing.... but the funny part is these people are almost never fucking wrong, what is it with horribly dogshit mixing on all these different bands performances recently? lol

Case in point: I’ve been a MASSIVE Northlane fan for years and had never heard of Karnivool, Ian had a guest feature on their last EP so I’ve went back through Karnival’s albums and I hear so much of their stuff and it’s as if I can hear exactly where Northlane(another Australia band) drew so much of their influence from, there’s 2 entire Northlane albums(Node and Mesmer) that are just back to front with songs of this calibre and all their other big songs.
There’s a song on Themata called Scarabs and a song on Northlane’s second album which may only share a name, but coincidentally both songs are on a very similar sound👀
I'm glad Rick Beato introduced this band to so many people, they deserve it.

Nice! Karnivool skews a bit more straight Rock - but, if you dig their sound, there are a bunch of great Prog bands out there in the same vein (if sometimes heavier). Caligula's Horse and Haken are two great bands you may enjoy that have new Albums coming out in the next month or two. Riverside and others are also awesome (specifically the album "Second Life Syndrome"). You ever dig into more modern Prog Rock/Metal - even stalwarts like Porcupine Tree?
Anyway, there's some good stuff out there. Have a great weekend bro! :)

This is the only Karnivool song I know, I listen to it regularly since a few years and this is the first time I check out a live version of it, I was scare that it would not be very clean because the song is kinda complex but I'm mindblowned, their playing is very tight and the singer hits the notes perfectly!!
And this is not even their best song imo

@@mattontherocks oh man . It was his podcast. It was really fast, but he basically was talking about playing the drums and how awesome the drummer is . Burrs music teacher introduce him to to their music. He said that the drummer is badass... and got excited. As far as the episode it must have been dec or Nov of 2019. One of those podcasts.

He's singing more than ever with Birds of Tokyo being such a big deal in addition to Vool, so he's probably on top of his game. This song's a motherfucker to sing, one of the only Vool songs he doesnt make sound effortless- but I agree, this is way way better than he used to do it.

God I miss these guys. I haven't heard anything new in years. I am glad that they are still playing shows, although they haven't been in NY in years. I got to see them a few times when they came in 07 and 2010.
