Excellent job on this video. I always considered this there best song. That is a huge claim considering who this band is. I also don't like to have a video call the shots or think for me. But I would have laid this video exactly out this way. In my head this it. What a masterpiece!
Red streamliner rollin' rollin' down the track the things you see With your wheels in motion through desert, mountain, ocean I hear you every night, is it a dream? Red streamliner rollin' down, comin' down on me Red streamliner rollin', rollin' long so free Your past keeps comin' back on me To far and near, away from here Where people move a mile a minute This hurricane livin' with you and me in it Long into the night, that whistle offers light Red streamliner rollin' I wish you'd tell me 'bout the things you see I'm lookin', lookin' down the tracks you ride Knowin' that they're your only guide I see them every night, is it a dream? And when the sidewalks roll up at night Just as stations pass by Once the leader of the wild, wild west Hurricane livin' been a lifelong song Now you're cast of steel and cast aside Broken dreams maybe, but you haven't died
Undoubtedly one of their best - captures dreams and a romantic link to the wild west and brings it forward to today mixing the craziness of the city and the quietness of a small country town, with the sound of a train in the distance. Love it. Timeless.
Awesome song...Michael McDonald framed it nicely... Get chills each time I hear him sing! Not embarrassed to say I played this over & over again... It's funny that Time Is a Hero is about an uncle who leaves his wife to come to PR...so I've been looking for him @ casinos & beaches...lol! Thx so much for uploading this gift.
Dale hit it the head. This song is a masterpiece. A lot of fans just don't get it or they missed this completely. I had the honer to see this band with and without Lowell George. But the best version of this song is not posted yet. That would be the live version from the " Hoy Hoy" album. It's hard to notice the nuance's, but it's worth listening to it. You will appreciate it if you have an ear for great music. By the way this video captures the essence of this song. Excellent job.
have to say i can't listen to Lowell & Micheal without getting chills up and down my spine, reminds me of the late sixty's, thank you for this great video..
In the mid was played on AOR stations in Dallas, Des Moines, Davenport and Denver I lived in all of those Ds from 1974 till now. And our Des Moines AAA station still plays it.
There are few albums ever released that compare to "Time loves a hero", in my humble opinion. This song is a masterpiece.

Red streamliner rollin'
rollin' down the track the things you see
With your wheels in motion through desert, mountain, ocean
I hear you every night, is it a dream?
Red streamliner rollin' down, comin' down on me
Red streamliner rollin', rollin' long so free
Your past keeps comin' back on me
To far and near, away from here
Where people move a mile a minute
This hurricane livin' with you and me in it
Long into the night, that whistle offers light
Red streamliner rollin'
I wish you'd tell me 'bout the things you see
I'm lookin', lookin' down the tracks you ride
Knowin' that they're your only guide
I see them every night, is it a dream?
And when the sidewalks roll up at night

Now you're cast of steel and cast aside
Broken dreams maybe, but you haven't died
