- eWaste Recycling is hard work but rewarding in many ways.
Here's 3 jobs I just did to give you all a feel of what I get up to on a daily basis when i'm not at the workshop processing it all.

Always impressed at how clean everything looks while you are driving. It appears to me that you went to the suburbs. The sticks has horses, cows, crops growing in the field and dirt roads everywhere. I live in the sticks with all kinds of wild animals on my property day and night. In the Southern USA. Deer, opossum, coyote, rabbits, turkeys and raccoon.
Blimey it must be quiet where your were picking up that stuff from the school Ben! If you left a van full of ipads and laptops open where i lived they'd be pinched in a blink of an eye!

Hey Ben, don't worry about talking too much. Having you driving around and talking and giving advice is like having a friend sat next to me while I'm doing stuff in the house. You talk away!
Here in Finland the power supplys to laptop goes for 7 - 12 dollars a piece second hand. It is also lucrative to put SSD drives into laptops and sell. The old XP laptops with serial port are in demand, since they are used to analyze car repair fault numbers.

I guess you have considered the possibility of having an accident while so loosely packed? A couple of cargo nets could help save you from nasty injuries. Another amazing haul!
yea a thought, but that place with the monitore at the end he once filled the van so much the suspension was getting a hell of a beating... and he had to go back for more... to say he was driving slowly would be inaccurate!

Can I suggest purchasing a pair of heavy duty folding ram9s?. That way, you can take one of your large orange bins and a couple of wheelie bins. Load them up inside then wheel out and up into the van. Less time wasted walking back and forward when collecting and quicker to unload at the other end.
Those old Simplex clocks have a LOT of brass in them!

Dirty recycling and stuff not processed at facility Is usually buried in the landfill. Some send it for further processing or to burn at power plants

you could take some bins, and sort out cables, power supplys, cd, before making a mess in van :D would save time later on unloading all that

Good job, now is the time to think about the other van investement of turning it in to an enclosed trailer, you can make a trade for the engine tranamission and other parts for the retrofit,throw in a piece of shiny gold and they will think they are prospectors, Then you will have almost matching van and trailer, make sure when he does the trailer he makes a place for your ramps and 2 spare tires, 1 for the van, 1 for the trailer, Just a thoughtful thought. Then later on you can have them boath silk screened with eWaste Ben with monitors, pcs, gol and silver coins, clouds on the top with the number 9, white wall tires with living large in white letters, and chickens all over, and your face with a headlamp and a drill driver. and so on, big building employees and mo monies.

Re the bin: why not carry a heavy duty post bag and empty the bin into it every time you do a pickup there? Then you don’t need a ramp or room for a big bin!

in the UK schools are very strict They don’t generally give you this stuff I’ve tried many schools but on marketplace I have found occasional computers and I’ve got one yesterday and added at SSD and fixed a few things and it worked perfectly when I got it for free as well and it’s quite a good one but generally due to GDPR and other stuff it’s not that easy getting them from school or offices

I’m a principal at a school in the us and we have all laptop no desktops anymore
That is the main thing is to recycle things like laptops, cds, and stuff like that and it will help other countries great thinking

great video ben, i would love to do that job but the island i live on is tiny and mostly living in the stone age, my watch is set 5 mins fast just so i can feel im living ahead of time of everything around me.

Question Ben have you ever looked into getting a magliner for hauling stuff to the van? It hold more I think and I use bungee cords to secure load.
Magliners are so expensive. I found mine on the side of a country road. I love it.

I don't know the laws in Australia, but if you removed the passenger seat you would have a lot more room for you pickups.
And thats why you should of bought a long wheelbase van.

Thing about masks..I carry 2 or 3. With because as you breath it filters all the air .so I just put on a fresh one or use those washable clothes works great..
