@BowlRefresher Wow. You have no fucking idea. MIGUEL WAS THE FUCKING SOUNDMAN. He played guitar and sang back up vocals until the band decided to put him as manager. If it wasn't for Miguel, Sublime would have had a rough start. Miguel let them record late at night at cal state dominguez hills which turned into the Jah wont pay the bills sessions which turned into fucking 40 oz to freedom. Miguel was not a fucking feat. He was part of SUBLIME

This isn't Citizen King, and this song isn't on Sydney Hih. Maybe it is Brad, maybe it isn't. But it definitely isn't Citizen King.

"Smilin'" is by Citizen King who wrote the song you may know "I've Seen Better Days". It is in no way associated with Sublime, despite what that Myspace and other sources of misinformation say. I promise. Please tell him that is not Sublime so this common misunderstanding is not spread.

My Point: Every other single sublime song, every single one. either live recordings, acoustic or practice/rehearsal jams/ studio outtakes originate from an album/live show/ or bootleg or studio out take tape IE Fugee freestyle. There is no origin of this song that connects it to sublime..... other than limewire. This is a mislabeled song, that was either used for promotion of a band or singer or was mislabeled because someone thought it sounded like brad. . . which it does for about 11 seconds.
Contradicting my 2-year old comment, sublimeforum . com / viewtopic . php ?f=3&t=839 shows that this song is by Citizen King. I'm also sure that Citizen King's song was released after Brad's death, making it impossible for him to cover.

@SmokeTheMist Let's just say, if you had to boil Sublime down to 5 members, it would be Bradley, Eric, Bud, Lou Dog and Michael Happoldt aka Miguel.
Miguel was more or less the backbone of the band. He held it all together. He played what guitar parts bradley couldn't on certain tracks, aka the What I Got solo and he is also featured on several others. He is the owner of Skunk Records and the producer of Sublime. He was there for the production of every album the guys put out. Including ST.

It does sound similar to winner takes it all. But they were at the weenie roast, or some outdoor concert when they did that. It was caught on tape by the groove tube. This sounds recorded indoors, but Winner takes it all was outdoors. and in winner takes it all, they didn't have guitars (you can see in the video)
One things for sure : when they recorded this, they were drunk as fuck.

citizen kane was like a one hit wonder hip hop rock band from the 90s who would never write or compose something like this. think about the subject matter, harmonies, and overall sound of this song. it is sublime, or at least brad and miguel fuckin around baked off their asses singing about boats and rain n shit
