- It's the battle of classic NIssans in this episode of Driver Battles, with a Nissan R35 GTR facing off against an S13 240SX in time attack competition.
How will the lighter, more nimble, RWD SR20 powered S13 do against the Twin Turbo AWD R35 GT-R at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway? Both cars have extensive aero modifications and body work, both cars have very experienced drivers and both cars are running Nitto Tire #NT01
This battle will come down to who brought the better car. It's rare that we even see a 240SX in Time Attack form and it's even more rare the the owner wants to battle a GT-R in it. Let alone one with 700hp. This is one of the most unexpected time attack cars we've seen.
We don't want to give away the results, but this episode has the FASTEST laptimes around Chuckwalla Valley Raceway we have ever seen. #DriverBattles

Great drivers! I love how the R35 driver was surgical and had shed a lot of weight out of his car. I love how skillful the RPS13 driver was and the slow-mo's of him drifting were so dope.

As soon as I saw the GTR owner floss I wanted the 240sx to smoke em. But I will say I do like how the GTR owner actually stated the car was heavy and had flaws. Thank you

When you really look at it the gtr only got him in the straights
And the braking, cornering. He didn't gain 4 seconds from just straights. This wasn't a fair matchup.
The Straits and how the GTR is able to power out of those Corners like a gun is why it was 4 seconds difference

4wd u brake harder and accel earlier in the corner where rwd u brake later and even trail brake into the corner but accel out later. Thats two driving techniques. Imo gtr would have a faster avg cornering speed in conjunction with higher hp amd seq gbox minimising in shifting time loss. I think the gtr was am overall faster cr around corners and straights. This is just not a fair spec'd battle. If this was a downhill touge battle, it would be a closer race as the gtrs weight would really come into play.

Yeah 240’s make great drift cars but a lot don’t know some came with the HICAS suspension for better handling and grip. I’ve seen some fast time attack S- chassis in Australia 🇦🇺 wasn’t till later ppl saw its nicely balanced and can easily slide 🤙🏼😛 Got a s13 myself and it’s light
Plus drifting is a bit more expensive
S13’s are becoming more rare, kids buying them only to smash them on walls, gotta save them

MikeEM1 yeah it really wasn’t, the R35 makes more power, has a dual clutch transmission so it shifts faster, and its weight isn’t a huge disadvantage since it was designed with that in mind

It was only called 240SX (S13 KA24DE) in US right? In Europe we had 200SX (S13 CA18DET, S14 SR20DET) and in Japan they where called (all? 180SX both CA18DET, SR20DET SR13 models and 200SX for the S14 models)?
Aussies and Japan had the 180 (hatch) / Silvia (coupe).
There is no way to make up for the power and AWD difference, but i would like to see More 240sx track builds they seem like it would be better than a Miata,and I'm tired of seeing them get wrecked drifting.
why are there no coil packs or spark plug wires on the S13's SR20 engine? lol just asking.

There are coils installed. Those holes you see are just vents in the coil cover.

Try a S13 with a Rb 30dett ..with a better splitter and wing better tuning... I'm building myne for hillclimb events and track days with friends or a little drags without aerodynamics

@@carloscrod_ Is it an Hachiroku Corolla ? What year? For wheels that price, you're gonna have to get some replica wheels. Heavier than stock wheels. For tires, you have a decent range of options. Traction for some twisted or just regular daily driving? Not sure why you're loaing traction on a daily.

Nissan won this battle for sure! :-) We did not have the KA24DE fortunately in Europe. Our Nissan S13's was called 200SX with CA18DET engines or later S14 models with SR20DET. So no 240SX in Europe! I had 2 S13 CA18DET and they where fun as hell! Early 2000 lots of CA18DET engines in Europe had +400 hp, SR20DET was more trouble as the ECU was harder to decode (at least in Sweden). Anyway I would have swapped my S13 for Skyline GT-R R32 or 34 GT-R anyday (never liked the R33) but the S13 CA18DET was a super fun car!
Hope to own again actually... or a S14 ("facelift") with SR20DET.

Joshua Wiggins i said relevant not “first”, yes the 32 was the first to be called Godzilla but the 34 dominates it in every aspect, motor handling design styling you name it. It is the last Godzilla and most relevant. Who gives a shit about aussie racing, thats almost dead.

Hello my name is Kash and I am 16. I am not sure what the age restriction is for this driver battle thing but I am very interested. I have a 1988 Nissan 300ZX with a VG33E swap. This car has been raced many times in the "24 hours of lemons" but I have only raced this car one time. That race is the only track time I have ever had. The car does have some suspension, exhaust work, and a gutted interior. I do have some other options for cars but that is the one I feel most comfortable with. Ive already seen how well the 240ss did, and now how well this s13 sr20 did against the r35. Now im asking my self how good my s13 rb26 would do against godzilla
Bad weight distribution and overall heavier so at the same power level the SR would be faster

That is not a drag race, where brute power and less weight is most important. Lag, on of throttle response, power delivery smoothness is a more important engine characteristic, if you got cars with similar weight, layout and poweroutput in a cercuit racing.
Thats not a benifit to have a car, thats 4% lighter, but you cannot demand the power from the engine on spot, where you have to play with the throttle in corners, because of a kicking powerdelivery.

No.. the g35 shares the same platform with and the 350z.. a lot different than the Rchassis
In Japan the g35 was just a skyline but never had the gtr name. The R badge ended with the 34 but they decided to bring it back hence the R35.

240 is the nickname in US and in Japan it's just the gen like s13 or s14
240 is a 240 with the ka24. There was the sr20 powered 200sx, and a 180sx as well. S13 and s14 are chassis codes.

So who on here has had some nitto nt01 before how are they for daily driving ? I currently have federal track tires on and I love them but if the nittos are a bit better I might just try them out
