This was the song I chose and played at my sister's funeral. Beautiful, talented, she finally succumbed to cancer. I cared for her during her last days.

This is my schools graduation song that our choir sings every year to say goodbye to the seniors. When it was my turn to graduate I couldn't stop the tears.

Bloody hell lol the poem and choral piece are about death 😳 I suppose the lyrics fit quite well for a graduation too - and it’s a little masterpiece, so why the hell not 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Mark Twain - I guess we’ll let you have him... Dan Forrest... well we can’t take him away from you lol... 👍

That tenor part is just outstanding...always jealous of the tenors they have the truly cutting lines in many songs, the ones that give you the chills as everyone else is swelling

If I'm correct, was it about adopting a child from overseas who they had to fight for years to get. And then when they finally were able to recieve said child, the child passed?

I love the balance on those sopranos, never overwhelming the other voices even when singing those higher notes, as they often do. Every voice has its point where is stands out, which to me is the best sound, even if it isn't perfectly balanced all the time.

We sang this in our highschools choir festival at Morehead State University. Then the song was still beautiful and touched me in a way. But now...almost 6 years later. It now reminds me of my recently deceased mom and dad. Music is so beautiful .... It just sits with some of us differently I guess

I dedicate this to all who have been effected by the Coronavirus whether directly or indirectly through death, quarantine, or a special thing like a wedding or graduation being canceled.
My 2020 graduation will likely be canceled and my friend is in quarantine.

we're just now learning this song in my choir class. We will be singing this song and another for the chamber choir competition. I really love the sound of the song.
Update: 5 years later and I still love this song. I miss my choir days. Perhaps I will do choir again in the future.
Update 2024: It's been 7 years and I still know my part. I was second soprano in this back when I sung this song with my Chamber Choir. I will proudly admit that I just sang along with another video of this song that was displaying sheet music. I still have it in me.

Off the scale - simply stunning performance of a deeply humbling musical expression of a tragic loss in Mr Forrest’s family. Deeply moving - thank you all for this gift that simply keeps on giving to all who listen.

Makes me want to cry. This was one of the last compositions I sang with my college Chior before covid ended my college career. We practiced this and it was hard at first. But eventually, the parts came together in great harmony. What sadness, we never performed it. I graduated college with no ceremony and churches are being ordered to close. We never did sing this in concert.
Still, God is worthy of praise since He sent His son to die for us and created music. Please accept the free gift of Jesus’ sacrifice before it’s too late. He is coming back soon!!!

If you're still in the same city of the university, reach out to the choir director. Perhaps they will sing it after the pandemic slows and singing returns and perhaps the director will let you sing with the choir. I am faculty at my university. I sang with out concert choir for two years and look forward to returning. One of the songs we sang was Good Night Dear Heart and it made me cry, too.

fairly ironic, considering how this is derived by a poem by Mark Twain, who famously was super critical of religion and said "If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be - a Christian", but go off

Peut plaire à des néophytes à mon avis
