Air Force one landing at O'Hare 2/13/09

President Obama coming home to Chicago for the first time as president. Air force one landed at O'Hare on runway 32R 2/13/09

WOW! We landed at O'Hare coming from Washington D.C. following his Inauguration, and flew from O'Haire to Indianapolis.

@Nascarking24 Midway is in a residential area....all hell would erupt on cicero ave. is AF1 flew over lol. Ohare is a little bit more remote and I believe the Secret Service prefers ORD. They make the call

I live in Chicago and my house is near the airport (and there's always a plane in the sky!)

yes, its true. The faa pretty much shuts down all acivity at o"hare and about 30 miles surrounding the airport

hey is it true that as the Air Force One arrives all Commercial flights are instructed to hold and give priority to that plane ?

@itsjustme2919 Actually only Military aircraft get the Air Force One sign. If he was on a Navy plane it would be called Navy One. If the pres is on a commercial or a non military flight is it call signed Executive One.

Nice..... Yeah, coming into Chicago is always busy... When I was on a Untied flight coming home. We had to waiting in the air and be deverted a little west so that Air Force One under President Bush was taking of from O'Hare.... Yeah, other traffic besides the presidents plane comes to a stop.... It is all good.. I have seen Air Force One a few times..... At different airports... It is a great looking plane.... Just great!!!

@francis2383 Yes. AFO gets priority over everything. Actually, any plane the President is on is Air Force One. If I were to ride on the Air Force One jet, it would be called tail number SAM 28000 or SAM 29000 because I am on it not the Prez. If Prez got on a Delta flight, that flight becomes Air Force One.

i was just wondering but when I was getting ready to get onto my flight from puerto vallarta to ohare I took a pic of the plane and a security guard said not to do that. Any idea why?

The FAA puts a Ground Stop all flights that are scheduled to lad at the same time are delayed at their departing Airports.

I bet airlines hate this because when Air Force One goes to a major airport they have to shut down that airport prior to landing and remains shut down until the Presidential motorcade has left the airport.
