Thanks for this. I play Napoleonic Command and Colors, which is great and I wanted another game similar for another period. Trying to decide between this and Fredericks War.
I have a question for you... I play this and I pay Commands and Colors Napoleonics, which might be a slight step up in 18th Century Warfare, but not by much. In your opinion, for someone who doesn't like their games too too heavy.. but wanted to take the next step towards a little more depth and realism in a tactical 18th Century Warfare game (could be Revolutionary War or Napoleonics, etc.)... Do you have a system or a specific game you feel would be the next step up from this one, and the Commands & Colors games? Thanks!!! Great videos... I just got onto this one, and will be watching your others.
You may have guessed from the video that I'm not a real fan of the "Hold the Line" system. I never tried the Commands and Colors Napoleonics. I did purchase the Ancients series in that system but didn't care for it either. Ultimately I got rid of them. For the 'next level', a system that is very popular is "Great Battles of the American Revolution" by Mark Miklos and published by GMT. The games celebrated their 20th anniversary this year at WBC. There are ten different titles in the system and an eleventh title is on the P500 list now. These games give a very good "period feel" and are much superior to the 'get a six' system in order to get a hit.
Thanks so much Gilbert... sorry the first time I read your response, I didn't click the READ MORE, link at the bottom and thought you hadn't responded on what was a good 'next level' game or system. I appreciate the tip, and will check out the GMT games you are mentioning. By the way... do they have anything similar to this system in Napoleonics as well? Cheers!
