  • What better way to celebrate reaching 500+ subscribers than trying out an obscure tabletop basketball game? Crunch Time Basketball, created by Bradley Logan, is a cards and dice simulation that may surprise you. The cards and game play are pretty simple, but the ability to score points (or not score points) is unique to the genre. I'll just say this: Individual player defense and ball handling ratings, graded "A" thru "F" (sans "E"), are an integral part of the game play. I hope you enjoy this demonstration. This is my first game but I believe I figured out most of the instructions/rules within the first 20 minutes of game play. 🏀
FREE! You can download Crunch Time Basketball's TACs (Time Action Cards), Rebound Cards and instructions in addition to a complete sampling of 2021 NCAA teams and a file of all-time great NBA and ABA teams at this link (from 2021) on Delphi Forums: forums.delphif...
Bradley Logan sells a host of Crunch Time Basketball NCAA team seasons and sets on Etsy: www.etsy.com/s...
Gustaw also creates compatible (and colorful) cards for Crunch Time Basketball that are full of player stats, descriptions, team logos. His email address is gustaw@gmail.com and his most recent price list and ordering instructions are listed below:

Thanks, Mike. I aspire to have a gaming desktop as cool as yours with Replay or PTG. Yeah, Crunch Time Basketball is pretty simple and pretty cool. I'm going to have to try another game as I think the late 1990s and early 2000s NBA was a bit stagnant and that was reflected in this replay (too many passes). Have a good one! 🏀

Best part of this torturous video is that Oaks court. Very cool. Would like to see a replay their championship season with your home brew . . .

Thanks for being a fan and my harshest critic. I like aspects of Crunch Time and don't agree that it's a bad game. It's not perfect, but no tabletop hoops simulation is. Crunch Time doesn't have the details of Fast Break, Hoops, Strat and all of the "heavy thinker" statistical games but I admire Logan's and Gustaw's creation and the game's simplicity. Sometimes you've got to think outside the box and these guys, for better or worse, did just that. Have a good one. 🏀

Cheers my friend !!! Another stellar performance Rod, I unfortunately can’t say the same for this game, But its nice to see yet another game on your channel get some love, There can never be enough. Take Care

Hi Bruins fan. I'm always intrigued by the methodologies of other table basketball game creators. Bradley Logan's approach toward ball handling and individual defense comes thru in Crunch Time, which is simple to play. There are times I don't need the complexity of our favorites like Hoops or Fast Break or Strat-O-Matic or Replay. Using less brain power makes this one fun for me, and I've only played two games. 🏀

Sounds like this game needs some refining, especially on the free throw attempts. It has some interesting concepts, though. Another great presentation, Rod. Congrats on getting to 500!

Thanks, schreck! I just communicated with creator Bradley Logan, While this one appears to have been a "defensive struggle" with low foul counts, Bradley said more fouls will occur if I "press" about 40 percent of the time. He says it's not like a "full court press" but could help up the FTs and the overall score. It was my first game and I will be playing more as it was a unique and enjoyable experience. Cheers! 🏀

Congrats on the subscriptions! This game seems cool but also lacking. I think it would be a good intro game to basketball Sims but not much depth. Good video as always!

Thanks, Jason. I agree that Crunch Time Basketball certainly has its limitations but still offers a unique way to simulate an NBA or NCAA basketball game. It's also very simple to play, which is appealing to many tabletop hoops game players. I'd have to play more games (maybe NCAA or ABA) to determine if Crunch Time Basketball will sustain my long term interest. Have a good one. 🏀

Another fine video, Rod. You make all these games sound very appealing. I hope you do a Crunch Time game of college basketball from the 70's next.

Thanks for the praise and the suggestion. Maybe I'll do a small demonstration with college teams later but I'm hoping to make Crunch Time more of an NBA/ABA favorite of mine. I've got CB2K and Bank Shot and PTG for historic college games and I think that might be enough for my collection. Gustaw's colorful player cards with stats and logos are next on my list. Cheers! 🏀

Low scoring for sure. Something you might see in the 90s but I would think more scoring with these teams.

Following a Facebook discussion with creator Bradley Logan, I found that employing the press ups the foul counts and, in turn, free throw attempts. See if it works out in my next Crunch Time video, which is on tap soon. Have a good one. 🏀
