Today we check out Govee's new Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro which just might be the best Permanent Outdoor Lights. The pro version comes with several upgrades over the previous Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights. The lights looked so good that I got kind of carried away and started adding even more lights like the Govee Curtain Lights and the Govee Flood Lights.

That bottom right corner of the right side garage door would drive my OCD insane. 🤯
A few days ago after putting up our Christmas lights I said to my wife that I wish houses had a permanent solution built in to the facia. She laughed at me.
Thanks Chris, your video was by far the best and most detailed review on YT, and even went as far as compared the old and new model visually! We picked up a 200 ft set using your affiliated link in the description for Prime Day!
super interesting and cool
How much did the installers charge separately? I've been wanting these but figuring out where to plug then in and getting to the second floor would be challenging.
Chris Maher did it better, look him up
Yes. He did a fantastic job!
Great video - * Can you isolate individual lights for ‘Accent lighting’ on the corners of the house?
man I have been teetering on purchasing this light kit for months but after this video... you totally sold me. well done and it looks fantastic!
Thanks for the video. The lights look great!
How was the roof measured to know how many lights you needed?
Were seperate boxes of lights used for the 1st and 2nd stories?
How did you do the lights around the garage doors and routing?
I was thinking this would look great, and then found your video. I think you are the first person I have seen that did this
How did you get the lights from the bottom of the triangle to the inside of the triangle? Did it just go over there eve? Thanks
I installed the Outdoor Permanent (non-pro) on my house. I have the 100-fr on the lower level and three 50-ft’s on my dormers. They are awesome. Running the St Patrick’s theme now. I dont find them to be as reliable on custom themes, which was an issue for Mardi Gras. I have yet to see a good video on how to fully use the DIY section of the app.
I love my Grovee lights (looking at them right now) but they don't work outside in my northern winters. It gets colder than the -4 degrees that Grovee is rated for.
They also don't have a "twinkle" setting. Or at least I can't find one.
Can you use Govee without their app? I like the functionality but their app has security flaws.
I recently installed 4 100ft kits on our house. The lights and hardware are top notch. Sadly the app is lacking when it comes to the perm outdoor lights due to about a third of functions in the app require Bluetooth connectivity. The app is geared more towards their other indoor.. and led strip lights. Overall pretty happy.
The only time i've run into the bluetooth issue is when using light groups. If I control each device separately I can control them over wifi. I'm not sure why groups require bluetooth only. maybe that's a bug they can fix later.
I got a quote from a pro contractor that deals
Minleon to install 200 feet of Govee on my house for $2200. I think the pro kit 200 feet is $700 so about $3000. I had a trim light dealer quote me $4500. I’m kinda still lost which way to go
Can you control the lights individually to make 2 lights on warm white and 2 lights off ?
Hey man, just found your channel but love your videos. Keep up the good work
The only thing is you can’t find the pro version anywhere , sometimes not even the original version it seems there either not in stock or sold out I even checked govee website
Yeah I’m not sure why they are having supply issues.
Can you put certain light in and off like gemstone lights? Are the lights numbers so you can only put certain ones on?
Huge drastic difference that would annoy me - also worth getting mounting brackets bc the 3m tape will fail after a while
last weekend i put up my govee light above the garage peak and all the way around the front of the front of the house and i have to say that i have the best looking house on the block. THANK YOU.
Mind me asking the cost for installation?
I'm considering renting an articulated manlift for $500 a day and DIY. But if I can get somebody to do the job for the same amount, bet
How much did they charge for install?
I just did this to my place too, love it man. If you could show how to make more nice custom effects on the govee app would be dope
Thanks Chris! - I already have a number of their lights including some adhesive strip lights on my deck.
They are "very configurable". I love the app - it seems to be quite robust and user-friendly.
I certainly have nothing bad to say about them - The ones you highlight look even better! - Cheers!
How much was the install, I want to reach out to the guys you used.
Garcia Anthony Garcia Helen Jackson Linda
50ft off the ground lol. the house is probably only like 25 feet tall
They look great Chris. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video. Clicked on the outdoor lights pro-- Amazon says unavailable sad😢
Good luck because govee don't have them and if they do come up you have to buy a $700 200 foot kit.
Yeah I don’t think they anticipated the high demand.
@@ChrisMajestichow much are they normally?
Have to guy them on a day like today. Discounted heavily for prime day
My lights arrive tomorrow. Of course, now I'm looking at the curtain light, too! Great video, man. Glad I found your channel. Just subscribed!
Very informative, thank you!
Govee went crazy!!! selling this lights for $699.99 WoW. i will stick with projection mapping.
bro i lived in SilverSpring for few yrs and i moved to VÀ, now i'm in Oregon 😂😂.. but i love your house and light for sure that why i watch your vid.. thanks bro and happy holiday 2 you 👍👍👍👍
Hi Chris, thanks for the video. have about 250 feet of roofline to cover with lights...so I bought the 200 ft pack and the 100 ft pack. I'm going to connect all 300ft of light into one power module with maximum extension cables to see if I can light it all up using one outlet. If not, ill have to break it up inbto two outlets.
Do you know if the lighting controller needs to be indoors? I thought it as all water proof... I am going to reach out to Govee to ask.
How much did the pro kit cost?
Clark Griswold 2.0 - these look great and would annoy my neighbour to no end - even more reason to get these!
Just wish they had HomeKit integration … but since it has Matter support, is it safe to assume they can be imported into HK?
Thank you! We just got 150ft for the regular ones, could you make a video how to set the sequences? I don’t understand as clear as I would how to use the app.
How did you get the lights from the bottom of the triangle to the inside of the triangle? Did it just go over there eve? Thanks
You must have been reading my mind. Lol. I have been looking at these lights for the last week trying to decide if I should order them. Definitely ordering. Thanks 💯
how did you install them outside the grarage doors? can you please share some video for that?
Your house look awesome. I just did mine and I made the mistake to set the light 4 1/2 away I’m using the non pro. I feel like reposition the double side tape but it my be too late
Amen brother, I dread putting up lights every year! And you're right, it always ends up being the coldest day! But I do it for the kids! Man you got me thinking about these. I'm a little nervous about longevity, unfortunately I feel like this is something that I will just have to jump in head first and hope for the best.
awesome video, have been seeing these pop up and didnt know what to do!! buy buy buy! Cheers!
Man got excited with the Maryland location thinking to use G and S but looks like a dyi install
I’m in uk. I put them up this weekend . Absolutely brilliant
Outstanding find...you are the man, the myth, the legend :)
This looks sicks!!!!
Love your video. Just got my Govee lights. I also bought the curtain lights but just one box. How many do you have on your window?
That’s just one box. It’s about 5ft wide. Congrats!!
how much did you pay for the installation?
Great video bro. Perfect info thank you 🙏🏼
Can you control the scenes from home-assistant?
Great video Chris. Just did a full setup on my house with all their lights and posted a video on my channel
Thanks for sharing. I’ll check it out
Glad you’re liking them 👏
Great video!!! A few days ago I went to Amazon and then Govee and found the white version PRO version is completely out of stock!! I'm 66 and tired of putting Christmas lights up and down every year, so I'm sold (even with a $699 price tag!). I added my email to the list for Goveee to let me know when they're back, but it looks like I'm gonna have to wait!!
They are back in stock on Amazon, just got mine delivered today!
Im stuck between finish installing the Govee RGBIC 1st generation outdoor lights, or take them down and return them for the Govee PRO ones. Im just not sure if I want to spend the extra $400 for the PRO ones. Is it worth it??
It's only worth it if you think you're going to use a lot of white or if you need more than 150ft. Otherwise I personally think it's fine to stick with the 1st gen.
The GS company responded very fast but the price for the install is close to 3k. I’m going to keep shopping around. If anyone else have another company that is cheaper let me know
3k for installing lights? lmfaoo
These are amazing, but my HOA will freak out if I leave these lights up permanently.
That's a great point. This would be an interesting situation.
Am I looking at the wrong thing it says the 200ft pro kit is $699
That’s correct. 100ft is $399
How did they connect the upper roof area to the lower part? With the same strand of wire? Did you just turn off the leds in the run between the different sections?
They used the included extension wires I showed during the unboxing.
I would be interested (even tho none of my business) how much the install was
Close to 3k
Noice.
I need these in my life
Hey i was thinking bout putting the curtain lights outside too and wasn’t sure it would work but yours look amazing. Just 1 question how do you prevent the wind from blowing the wires and messing up the display?
I’ve been fighting with that. I thought about taping them together at the bottom.
@@ChrisMajestic i was thinking about using the smaller Command branded plastics clips at the bottom of the lights against my vinyl siding. I hope it works
Great review. Again......
Great informative video. Do you mind me asking how much it cost for them to install it?
With the added outlet and expedited install the total was $2200. My install required a bit of extra work over a regular installation though.
@@ChrisMajesticI'm in SoMD. The install looks nice, but I don't want to climb up that high on the ladder. I don't know if I want to spend that kind of cash for the install. Nice to have a reference point.
Was it hard to remove and unstick the old lights to have the new pro lights installed so all your lights were the same?
Not at all. We just unscrewed the clips and pulled the lights hard enough to unstick the double sided tape.
@ChrisMajestic Did you have to use any rubbing alcohol to removed some of the 3m sticky tape on the back of the pucks?
@@paulmaestas8709 even though it may not have been necessary they did wipe down the soffit with rubbing alcohol after removing the old lights
@@ChrisMajestic Thank you
how much was install?
It can range somewhere from $1000-2500 depending on your house.
❤
They’re never available
Yeah I’m not sure why
Great video on outdoor adventures! As someone who loves camping and quality family time, I highly recommend investing in reliable gear and backup power products. The Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series is a fantastic choice with its massive capacity, fast recharging, and comprehensive protections. It's perfect for ensuring uninterrupted power supply on your outdoor trips. Happy exploring!
The lights are $699 in your link, not $399. Wow - hard pass!
Well technically yes but 200ft is literally for a mansion or something. I've watched many many videos and it seems most people are getting it done for less than 150ft. Which is 399
