It's interesting to see how Phnom Penh has evolved over the years. I've been in Cambodia 15 years and the capital was very different when I first arrived. It's gone from wild west to hip and modern very quickly. Kampot too, it was a sleepy crumbling colonial town not long ago.

You can extend another month. And Now theyve made it possible to convert to a longstay business visa in country. You just have to go to a visa agency. It costs around 4-500 dollars total for the conversion and a 6month business visa.

great video unfortunately cambodia is virtually locked for long term stayers at the moment with the suspension of visa on arrival and suspension of converting the tourist visas to business visas.. still not sure why they insist on not letting people stay long term.

I dont know much about that. But i think you have to proove you have a certain amount of money each time you renew a retirement visa as a foreigner. But that’s usually no problem. Im only 36 so i havent looked into that yet
if you want to stay longer than 30 days, do not get a tourist visa. You need to get one called an "Ordinary" visa. It is also called "E-Type" -- Be careful tho because the tourist one you get online is also called "e-visa" ( with a small e ). For long term you want the Ordinary one , or E-type with a capitol E. - This type can be extended into a work visa once you have a job, a tourist one can not be extended long term.
You can’t do it online. You have to apply at each school in person. Or go in and meet them and get their business card so you can E-mail your resume. But schools wont hire you without meeting you first

You can convert your tourist visa to a business visa and stay long term. Thats what I did. Covid hassles you have to wear a mask. And if youre not vaccinated you have to quarantine for 2 weeks when you land. - everything is open theres no restrictions

Everything in PP is way more expensive than other provinces in Cambodia. In the countryside, away from touristic places, you can easily live with 500$ / month including everything (visa + work permit 40$ as it is a bit less than 500$/year, rent, electricity, food, etc.). I think this is comparable to Thailand's countryside. But PP is quite expensive !

Its cheap here compared to North America, but not compared to Thailand. Thailand has cheaper food

I think the reason why foods are more expensive because a lot of food products are being imported from neighboring countries. Economy of scale?
