    Good tips. When I moved to Cambodia there were so many basic things that weren't available but now it's pretty easy. I used to bring duct tape for a guy who had lived here since the early 90's. Now I bring things I like from Cambodia to the US when I visit. Good luck!

    You should do a video on tours of hostels and show which one is the cheapest. Everyone has been suggesting to pay to live 1 month at a hostel, so you have time to settle into your teaching job and buy a motorbike and find an apartment, that you are happy with, rather than being stuck in a bad apartment for 1 year, because you were rushed. Also talk about month by month apartments. Even in the Philippines, you can find landlords that do the month by month, rather than doing a 1 year lease.

    I completely disagree on one thing and its my opinion. Bring a pair or two of jeans or long pants. I wear a 34" x 34" and it's impossible to find here in PP. I spend my days in shorts and T shirts, I agree but I have had some occasions to wear a pair of jeans in the last three years. Also I wear a size 12 shoe ( 46Euro). Bring two pairs of gym shoes or whatever, because size 12 is a monster foot here. The advice is great about bringing your products you like but now at AEON you can find about anything similar and switch brands. One thing I will say in moving to Cambodia pay the airline extra bag fee when coming and load up with some extra things. Great Video though

    The locals just live by a few hundred dollars a month but there is always an option in life. If you could live, eat, and sleep like locals, you could even stretch your $ much further. Be kind, be cool, and take care. Greetings from a genocide survivor there!

      It's might hard to live like the locals when you're a white elephant. Nobody's gonna rent to you in the same places for the same amount. That being said you don't have to live like the majority of expats either.

So I haven't dealt with those details yet. But I was just talking to my parents about figuring that out - Now that I know I want to stay. When I get it sorted I will make a video about it.

    What kinds of meat are commonly available? How reliable is electricity?

    • @TomTripsOut
      @TomTripsOut  4 месяца назад

      Pork and chicken and lots of fish. The beef here sucks. The cows are thin and muscley and the meat is a little tough. But there is beef from Australia available anywhere that is much better. There’s a South African butcher called SuperMeats everyone raves about it. Electricity is a lot better than it used to be - I think I had one outage this year that lasted 20 mins. It’s expensive tho. 0.25 /kw. There are huge indoor grocery stores and and malls - you can buy any type of meat you just might pay more if it was imported

      @@vermont741 well I can’t effectively compare and contrast the two because I don’t know what’s offered in your CELTA or how much it costs. I can tell you the main features and benefits to AVSE, and you will have to contrast it with the CELTA program. The in country program is $1657 - 4 weeks full days. Mon to Fri …near the end you get to do observations in schools of real teachers teaching and several different age levels, and you get to go back and take over their class as practice and get feedback from them. - and as you complete the course they line you up with job opportunities. Basically get you a few job interviews. They are also government accredited and have a very strong reputation. They also do Vietnam, so they can find you work there too IF you have a degree
