- This is the New version of the deity DED4 duo video microphone. This new version features upgraded windscreens which greatly reduce please reduce the sound of windows in the microphone come is in the microphone compared to the original version.This is a tiny small lightweight compacts bait compacts microphone that features 2 microphone capsules.. Yes it is a dual cardioid Mike cardioid microphone with both a microphone in the front end in the back. Alternatively you can also plug your own microphone or lavalier into the beauty default duo and overtake the back microphone back microphone, thus making 2 microphone inputs into your one microphone port on your camera.
This microphone also separates out the dual cardioid microphones into left and right channels so when you go into your editing program later you can raise or lower the volume of each one separately.

man this is very well edited! I watched many reviews and they forgot to mention about the channel separation. That is SO helpful I almost went with the Comica but this video changed my mind. THANK YOU!
That's the best feature in my opinion!! 2 channels you can separate. Whether you want:
1- front mic on both channels (stereo)
2-front and back mic on separate channels or...
3 -front mic and lavalier mic input on separate channels.
This is STILL my favorite on board microphone! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Thanks for the information. I’ve been watching a lot of reviews on this mic and they are all over the field. I think they may have been using the older version of the mic. Thanks for the dup trick on the channels. That saved a bunch of time.
Yes, I saw a lot of people with bad reviews of this mic, then I bought 2 of them and figured out what the problem was. They made an updated version later on.
Will the duo mono mode work on an iPhone 13 with the TRRS to lightning cable or adapter?

Totally agree! D4 duo v2. Anything!
I find it a little easier to separate the audio into two mono tracks by either setting that as the default in the sequence settings or right clicking the file (in the project pane before adding to the sequence) > modify > audio channels > 2 mono tracks. Then when you drop the file in the sequence you will have two mono tracks separated.
Unfortunately, it looks like Deity has discontinued the d4 duo :( tried ordering online and had to go through customer service only to find out they don't make it anymore.
For people in Canada, looks like Henry's has the old windmuffs as I tested it out in-store, and I haven't been able to look at BH for US, although customer service mentioned they would have the most updated version (if these windmuffs truly got an update).

Sorry if it is no longer available, They truly did get updated. I got contacted by Deity right after I made this video, and I’ve worked with them on 4 different videos since. It’s not just a random coincidence! Lol.
I will reach out to my rep to see if a new product is taking the place of the D4 Duo.

How do we know we are getting a newer version of this mic and not a old version. I ordered from b&h and am hoping its the newer version. Im planning to use it outdoors so need the extra wind noise reduction.
Hi Neville. I wish I knew. I ordered 2 from Amazon and received the Newer version first, then my second copy had the old wind furs. I think with B&H you should be good to go with the newer version! If you you think about it, can you come back here and let people know which version you get from B&H? Thanks in advance
I used this with a lavalier and a sony camera, but when my subject was silent it raised the volume increasing the noise and when the person started talking there's noise and a saturated voice, It gradually reduced the saturation till back to normal. Anyone had this issue?
What's the difference between this Fill method and the right-click Audio channels method?

This is a great gift as it’s a great mic and inexpensive. Question; on the FX3+Ninja V. I like to film with Shutter priority. I noticed I’m not able to film in ProRes Raw. I’m only able to film on ProRes Raw in Movie mode. Have you experienced that? Thank you in advanced.
Hey! I just hooked my FX3 up to the Ninja to replicate your issue, and I got the same results. I can record ProRes RAW in Movie mode, but when I switch over to Shutter Priority, which is primarily a Photo Mode (4:3 aspect, not 16x9) it gives me the same results. My Ninja says, NO RAW INPUT. I think you have to be in Video Mode in order to shoot ProRes RAW. I only use mine in Manual - M mode so I did not know this limitation either until now. I hope this helps!

Hey Ray. Thank for the comprehensive review, love your delivery! Wanted to ask if the link you provided is to the upgraded version or did you order both from the same link? Because when I searched it up on Amazon, three mics with slightly different names show up all by Deity. Also wanted to know, besides seeing a difference in the size of the dead cats, were there any announcements or pages online talking about the upgrade? Your video was all I could find in the subject.
Hi Justice. Thanks for checking out the video. There is not an official announcement about this Update, although DEITY has contacted me directly about my video 2 days ago. No issues with anything I've stated about these updates, and they are sending me their new Pocket Wireless mic kit! So that will be coming soon! And yes, I ordered both of mine from Amazon and the Updated one came first (then when I ordered a 2nd one, the old version came and that's how I figured it out). I would order directly from Deity website if you can. They are on sale for like $68 right now. Happy Shooting!

I laughed out loud for real when I read this! Yes, the mic itself is the same, but they listened to all the complaints about the original Wind Screens and upgraded them without saying a word. That's pretty cool in my opinion! Not a new product, but an improved one. The only thing that concerns me is that I ordered both of mine from Amazon, and the first I received was the NEW version... then for my second one, it has the old wind screen so I have to return it.
How do you know if that is the new version?
