The Union Pacific’s Sharp Subdivision is the former Union Pacific Provo Subdivision,Renamed in 1996 when UP took in the Southern Pacific into its system. Because Southern Pacific’s former Rio Grande Mainline was their Provo Subdivision between Salt Lake City and Helper. Union Pacific didn’t want two Provo Subdivisions So,The line between Provo and Lynndyl,Utah was renamed the “Sharp Subdivision”,After the Sharp Siding located south of Nephi,Utah.
