    Awesome video! Coincidentally, on the day I was watching DVD copies of The Kearney Sub and Union Pacific’s Cima Sub respectively for the first time was when these two were uploaded to here, how about that! 😂😅

    Very cool video of desert trains! I grew up and lived in the So Cal desert! It’s nice to see my ol fave UP! I now reside in Georgia and rarely see them! Usually it’s NS and a few CSX!

    Cima Sub today. from Barstow to Vegas this line sees everything and it hauls our economy from Long Beach to the rest of the nation and it is the only link between the ports and Terminal Yard in Salt Lake. East of here is the Caliente Sub and the Lynndyl, Sharp/Lemington, and Shafter Subdivisions. Welcome to Part 1 of the San Pedo and Salt Lake The Cima Sub.

    Great video, as usual. You did miss Boulder Jct., a historic branch originally to the construction of Hoover Dam, the henderson end of the branch, starting at the I 11, US 95 overpass, owned by the city and operatedby UPRR. Also the Basic Magnesium facility, and the Nevada Southern from railroad pass to Boulder City, operated by Southern Nevada Railroad Museum, using ex UP844, the GP35 that caused steam UP844, to be renumbered UP8444.
    I was the signal gang foreman when the division went thru siding lenghtening during the late 1970s, and my crew was one of the last MofW crews to stay at Kelso, eating at the "beanery". During the steam era, there was a Y , round house and turntable located east of town, on the south side. The water tank feeds miles of pipe to water the salt cedar trees li ing the tracks west of town.

    at the 8:00 mark, UP 9807 is a C44-9W. After 20+ years, still pulling her weight and earning her keep. I have that loco in HO Scale

      The video was originally published to DVD in 2018, sadly most of the older locomotives shown in this video are in deadlines or sold.

    Thanks for a great video - brought back a lot of memories of when I chased trains over parts of the Cima Subdivision and BNSF's Needles Subdivision. When I visited the States for the first time fell in love with the Mojave and on my second trip just had to revisit. Charlie from Canberra

    I don't know why but through some trick of perspective those railroad bridges always look like a model train set to me.

    Cave Mountain is the only interesting thing between Yermo and Baker. Everytime I drive by I glance over and try to map out an imaginary route to the top. Maybe one day.

    16:11 What's the purpose of the short poles with horizontal white stripes?

    • @jeremynielsen5500
      @jeremynielsen5500 3 месяца назад

      They are for mileage. The number of stripes indicate a quarter mile a pole with one stripe meaning a 1/4 mile, a pole with two stripes equals a 1/2 a mile, 3 stripes equals 3/4 of a mile, and 4 stripes equals. At 1:04:40 you can see a pole with four stripes and numbers placard
