  • Restoration video of a Series II Jaguar E-Type. The restoration took two and a half years, thousands of hours of labor, and much, much more $$. The Jag was last licensed in 1983 and spent the last 15 years outside with a deteriorated car cover. This was a nut and bolt restoration. Everything was rebuilt or replaced. Every motor, caliper, assembly, etc. was dissassembled and rebuilt.

I did own a 1962 E-Type and it took a lot to keep it up. So I can sort of understand how one would be overwhelmed and just park it for the time being, and then, maybe being older, (I'm 78) never be able to keep it up. So I give you my heartfelt congratulations, for doing this. It is, after all, a work of art.

From what was basically scrap metal to a better then a factory built Jag. I congratulate you on a magnifivent restoration. May the E-Type give you many more years of brilliant motoring.

My wife and restored 69 XKE Roadster in 1980. Silver with red leather interior. A beautiful car and fast. The VIN was 1R7775. Had to sell it 85 when the second of 4 kids arrived. Miss it often.

I was a young boy when this car was launched in the UK and it is hard to describe the universal, world-wide adoration it received at the time - even amongst people who were not into cars. It is said by many to have been the most beautiful car ever made. Your restoration is superb.

Well, boys,I must say, you´ve hands from gold!!!Magnificant or brilliant job was done! Not so scramped "restauration" as we are used to be from american "mechanics"!(New paint only, then nothing!)I saw one E-Type in red after 13 years of restoration(Yes,don´t lie!) on e-bay and he never looked not a bit so perfect as this one!!It´s in better condition then he left the factory on Browns Lane,Coventry!!Bravo boys!!Bravo!!

A great over haul of an awesome car that we will never see the like of ever again! .I still remember a few of my Dad's friends who tried to own one, and what they had to say about it (not everyone was kind, needless to say-it was very un-American in its needs if you wanted to keep it running dependably) A lot of American owners had a steep learning curve ahead before realizing what a thoroughbred they had on their hands! This was no chevy or Ford that you could keep running no matter how you ignored it, but a very special car that needed a lot of attention. The solex carbs alone were a nightmare, as was the electrical system with its quirky and temperamental lucas fuel pump and generator, plus the shocking realization that you had to pull the whole drive train to change the clutch! These revelations put off many people after a fashion, even Americans - some of whom even swapped in a Pontiac straight 6 engine in an attempt to "civilize" the car! But the E type (XKE was what Americans called it) was and is a very special car,... For all its quirks it was one of the greatest cars of the 1960's if not ever, mass produced and affordable for the average man...-if you knew exactly what you were getting and could meet it's demands!

What a lovely piece of work. You were lucky to acquire the car from its previous owner. I saw an Austin Healey 3000 go from decent condition to rusting hulk and finally dust, because the owner would not let the car go. Any approaches were met with a definite 'not for sale' comment. I could weep, even now.

I cannot believe how people have treated E Types over the years , would anybody in their right mind leave this car sitting out in the elements for ten years when it was absolutely obvious to everybody that they are a sort after classic , its a shame the car was not stolen and restored at the beginning of it sitting in the driveway .
