How to fix a Brother printer - stuck in paper jam error (model MFC 5490C)

Having removed a paper jam the error stayed and the machine wouldnt even turn off!. Eventually, with a torch, I spotted a loose spring on the right. It was only attached on one end but impossible to re-connect the other end, without disassembling the unit. It turned out to be an easy fix with just a screw driver and half an hour.

If you are unable to remove the paper inside the machine, or if the paper jam error continues even after removing the paper, you can reach the Brother Printer support 𝟏_𝟖𝟎𝟎_𝟗𝟕𝟓_𝟎𝟏𝟒𝟖. Avoid doing anything too invasive that might void the warranty- if you’re still holding out hope that the printer has remaining warranty coverage.

hello - you did not show, how to move the Printhead from the right to the middle ...with brute force? I am exactly on this point and I'm afraid to push it towards the middle - something could go very wrong with this, I guess. How did you do it? please help - thanks

that would be great. I continue to get the error message of a paper jam and I know there isn't one. I wondered if my spring was sprung too! just can't figure out how to get in there, lol
