  • What is the highest purpose of life? Plato believed that we only have one true purpose in life and that is living a good life. In this video, you will find some of the best, greatest, and most powerful Plato quotes that can help you become the best version of yourself and live a good life according to Plato's philosophy.
Plato defines a good life as living in harmony with one's inner nature and comprehending the true essence of things. To do this, one must overcome bad emotions like wrath and greed and embrace truth and knowledge.
Plato is a philosopher, mathematician, and one of the greatest thinkers of ancient Greece. He was born Aristocles in Athens, Greece, in 427 BC but changed his name to Plato as he grew older. He was a student of Socrates, the teacher of Aristotle, and published many great books and writings that have been studied by students for over 2,400 years.
Plato's books were written for the purpose of education and learning about the world. His philosophy and theories inspired many different works of art including paintings, sculptures, music, and literature have layered the groundwork for much of Western philosophy.
Plato is best known for his theory of Forms and his most famous books, The Republic, and Symposium. In The Republic, he discusses justice, education, love, and other topics. In Symposium, he discusses love between men and women as well as eros between men.
In the Theory of Forms, Plato believed that there are ideal forms of all things and that these forms exist independently of concrete reality. He suggested that everything in the world is a copy of a perfect form and that those forms are real and exist outside of our own minds. Based on his teachings, these forms could be understood by our reason, but not by our senses.
Another Plato’s famous theory is The Allegory of the Cave. In his Allegory of the Cave, he describes how people would be blinded by ignorance if they were to go into a cave and watch shadows on the wall. When they are released from their chains, they would not know what to make of their new surroundings.
    Some of other Plato’s famous books are: Apology (c. 385 BCE), Phaedo (c. 370 BCE), Phaedrus (c. 370 BCE), Cratylus (c. 360 BCE), Symposium (c. 385 - 380 BCE), Parmenides (c. 400 BCE), Parmenides (c. 400 BCE), (Republic) Book I-VII (c. 380 - 370 BCE)
Plato's work, writing, and theories are still studied today and have been expanded by thousands of philosophers and researchers. His theories have also influenced millions of people's lives, thinking processes, and education to this date.
