  • An upbeat song about spiritual warfare is the next Canaan Melody from the old 1914 Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene hymnal. Great words here about being redeemed and freed by Jesus, and going to tell his salvation all over the world as we march to glory! Enjoy and be inspired by this one.

    1 Come with hearts and voices now and sing a gospel song,
    Sing it with a spirit that will move the mighty throng;
    Sing it till the world shall hear the echoes loud and long,
    While we are marching to glory.
    Refrain:
    Then hail! all hail! the coming jubilee!
    Redeemed from sin, our Jesus make us free;
    Now we’ll shout salvation over mountain land and sea,
    While we are marching to glory!
    2 Gird the gospel armor on and duty’s call obey;
    See the host of Satan ready marshaled for the fray;
    Going forth to meet them we will watch and fight and pray,
    While we are marching to glory! [Refrain]
    3 Forward then to battle ‘neath the banner of the cross;
    Counting worldly honors at their best as only dross;
    Jesus is our Captain, and we ne’er can suffer loss,
    While we are marching to glory! [Refrain]

    Oh me. I haven't sung this since when I was a little boy in Sunday School. Thanks Luke. You just need to work on that southern U.S. accent. LOL Be a blessing, brother.

    Was this written by the same H. C. Work that wrote "My Grandfather's Clock" and "Father Come Home" and many other songs lost to time?

      I did some quick research after I was up for the day and the answer is "Yes." In fact, this is a rework of his American Civil War song "Marching Through Georgia. "

      @@GilmoreDon wow I didn't realize the origin. Thank you for educating me. Too bad I didn't love book learning when I was a kid. Now, pushing 70, I cannot seem to take in enough. Let's go be a blessing.
