EPIC. Know if there's any chance of his remix to be released, or is it URM members only?

On a scale from great to great I would say pretty great.

This vid makes me feel competent as an engineer but never a master. Loving the content.

Funny that he says that about the mic, because even if Watershed is one of the best sounding metal albums I have ever heard in my life, I would say the tom sound is the weakest part of it. They sound a bit hollow, especially compared to the rest of the kit (which sounds absolutely magnificent)

Of course there are always discussion on whether to arrange drums as "audience perspective" vs "drummer perspective" bu i've never seen anyone arrange them in the mix window from lowest on the left to highest tom on the right. Not that it changes anything to do with the mix but looking at it makes my head hurt haha.

Whats the name of the Cad mics you use on toms?

Try the e609's on toms. "But they're a guitar mic". Nope. Toms.

my 906 has a bit more in the low mid range than the 609, I haven' tried them on toms yet but I sure will

Yeah, if you're of Metallica's black album, they used 609's for the top mics (421 on bottoms) for the toms

Off topic: Why did you take down the "The Contortionist" video you posted this week?

He had the absolute worst day of his life trying to get to Sweden, I don't even know how he had the energy or will to go through with the stream. Just goes to show how professional he and the rest of the URM guys really are.

Yea i agree but unfortunatley so many commercial studios run off it and its gonna be awhile till it shakes atleast for mixing

Really, you get to see one of the biggest metal producers ever, working on an iconic track and this is what you have to say about it!?

    • @FanaticDrummer

Bas de rooy. The fact remains, Slowtools is outdated and obsolete now as boomer and gen-x studios phase out. Its a garbage daw. Just look at the new Logic or CuBase. Its hilarious how dedicated people are to Slowtools because they convince themselves the hardware was worth keeping.

FanaticalDrummer it’s really a shame that you’re not getting the point. You could actually learn from this video. Being hateful instead will get you nowhere.

I just wanted to comment in the spirit of the guy before me that commented a year after your original post. Cheers!
