ABOUT BEWITCHED: United by love, Darrin and Samantha Stephens (Dick York / Dick Sargent and Elizabeth Montgomery) may look like a classic American couple, but they have a secret that distinguishes them from their suburban neighbors - ad executive Darrin (Dick York / Dick Sargent) is a mortal, but Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) is a beautiful witch.
ABOUT I DREAM OF JEANNIE: Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman star in this classic ‘60s comedy about a genie and her master. When astronaut Tony Nelson is forced to crash-land on a remote Pacific island, he finds a strange bottle that's washed ashore. When he opens it, out pops a genie named Jeannie. Not only does she get him back to civilization safely, she also smuggles herself aboard the rescue plane. Jeannie becomes Tony's constant companion. But though she happily grants his every wish, she causes more than her fair share of trouble.

It's a tough call who is better-looking, the witch or the genie. Montgomery and Eden were two of my early interests in 1965. The only other "inspirational" woman on TV at that time, at least for me, was Donna Douglas. At 7 years old I knew I wanted her, I just didn't know why. The reason came to me, 6 or 7 years later.
were u alive in 65? and using a internet device , impressive to me
I’ll take both!!!
I love both tv shows, classics.
Both were great l never missed an episode 😜
Loved them both!
Serena is Samantha's Cousin, not her sister.
on Maurice's side....
Elizabeth Montgomery thought I DREAM OF JEANNIE was a take off on BEWITCHED. But when the producer of IDOJ introduced Jeannie's brunette sister, that really angered Liz. But she never held any animosity toward anyone on the show.
But when they did the IDOJ: FIFTEEN YEARS LATER, and when Liz found out that Bill Asher was going to direct it, she called him and ripped him. 😀
Some may say, what about THE PATTY DUKE SHOW? Well, the difference is, Serena was based on Liz's own look-alike cousin. Liz also introduced the character to give her a way to play a role with a personality different than Samantha's. It worked
I agree. Sam is a strong and independent woman, and Darrin knew it. Sam was also an understanding person.
The point about BEWITCHED had messages on social topics is the most important point in this video. So many people can take something from this series.
The last scenes about love in both shows is a good one. I love the last scene of BEWITCHED where Darrin and Sam kiss to reinforce their love for one another. Tony and Jeannie do the same thing.
Samantha IS Elizabeth.
A strong independent woman doesn’t have a husband.
jeannie for the win
Jeannie is a lot of fun. After being cooped up in that bottle for so long, she deserves it. And she has a blast...usually at Tony's expense.
Samantha's sister? Serena is Sam's cousin not her sister
I dream of jeannie... sorry sam
Yup. Jeannie by many miles for me.
Bewitched was the big hit and was first. The show had beautiful Elizabeth Montgomery and Agnes Moorehead and excellent writing. The shows director William Asher also did both "I Love Lucy " and "Patty Duke Show" and the Beach movies with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicelo. Jeannie barely survived its 5 year run, never making the top 25 in ratings. No its obvious, Bewitched always!! 👏 👏 🏆 🏆 🏆
I prefer IDOJ. Its more hilarious and Jeannie is so cute
Was that Barbera Eden playing both parts in the episode.. Is there a doctor in the house at around 4.29
yes
If I had a genie like jeanie.. She would never leave the bedroom
I preferred Bewitched. I thought I dream of Jeanie was stupid , loved Bewitched but it’s a matter of preference….
I dream of Jeannie is a good show you could have said something other than the word stupid.
Totally agree. Jeannie was not even a hit and never even made the top 25 in audience ratings.
@@sheldoncooper1134it ran for five years. That makes a show a hit
I prefer Jeannie.
Both great shows, but love Bewitched, sorry Jeannie.
When men were men, and women loved men.
Does anyone know the reason why the actor of Darrin changed in Bewitched?
@@SolidGrim thank you for telling me,
The difference- One is about a secure relationship where the wife is in someways more powerful than the man and he's fine with that.
The other is an adolescent fantasy
Samantha's sister??? she never had a sister. Sarina is her cousin.
