Sad he dont know anything about the gameplay of Half-Life 1, so he litteraly didnt know what he was supposed to do, because it was build based around the game itself.
@@NitroToxico tbh, I think that might actually have made it more interesting, he probably wouldn't have explored nearly as much, if he actually knew the original game. Though I would love to see him now play the original HL1 afterwards as well
I would have been surprised that Scrap Man didn’t know this is Half Life if it wasn’t for the fact that I seen a previous video where he admits he use to be big into Call Of Duty lol

half life includes gore guns blood and a variety of other unfriendly subjects. It's also multiple decades old and would be very boring to watch anyone play, great game and its very cheap to play on your own though!
Black Mesa is a more up to date version.

@@Cyclopeantreegiant I have the same feeling but IMO Black Mesa is Half Life 1 +. Its the Old game but with new details to explore throughout the game and better graphics.

That is an incredible recreation, practically 1 to 1. You should totally do a playthrough of Black Mesa, you will recognize a lot from the first two chapters after this

Amazing challenge pack! Really captures the essence of HL1 and the combat side of the challenges is also really fun!
Feels like someone needs to play Half Life. It heavily uses physics for gameplay! :D
I mean maybe not the first one, but the big selling point of half life 2 was it's new and innovative physics engine
@@alexplosion_ITA valve didn't make the physics engine, it uses havock, but yeah it implements physics heavily for its gameplay elements.
The first one doesn’t have too much physics, but it does rely a lot on using your brain to get through obstacles. Which really fits Scrapman’s style.

@@Alffraido have life being very boring to watch is a complete lie, especially if the person playing it is experiencing it for the first time. And about the gore, since the game so old, the gore isn’t too too bad. Especially since I’ve seen some pretty gory scenes made up in scrap mechanic that he has shown.
So I think a long as he put a little Gore warning for his younger audience. The puzzles and his style of commentary could really work together.
It's been a long time since I played Half Life, but this certainly hit all the vibes of it for me. Very cool. Can't wait for more levels to be released so you can keep playing through this interpretation of Half Life. Awesome video, Scrapman!

Good morning and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel.
The time is 08:47 AM. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees, with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times.
This train is inbound from Level 3 Dormitories to Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. If your intended destination is a high-security area beyond Sector C, you will need to return to the Central Transit Hub in Area 9 and board a high security train. If you have not yet submitted your identity to the retinal clearance system, you must report to Black Mesa Personnel for processing before you will be permitted into the high security branch of the transit system.
Due to the high toxicity of material routinely handled in the Black Mesa compound, no smoking, eating, or drinking are permitted within the Black Mesa Transit System.
Please keep your limbs inside the train at all times. Do not attempt to open the doors until the train has come to a complete halt at the station platform. In the event of an emergency, passengers are to remain seated and await further instruction. If it is necessary to exit the train, disabled personnel should be evacuated first. Please stay away from electrified rails, and proceed to an emergency station until assistance arrives.
A reminder that the Black Mesa Hazard Course decathlon will commence this evening at nineteen hundred hours in the Level 3 Facility. The semifinals for high-security personnel will be announced in a separate Secure Access transmission. Remember, more lives than your own may depend on your fitness.

I would pay good money for you to play through at least the first Half-life.
even though I know you’re not a shooter game channel, Half-life 1 is more focused on using your brain to get through challenges rather than just brute force. So I think you would like it.

As somebody who's been watching your content for a super long time, maybe 4 years i think, i would absolutely love to see you play through some of half-life one so you can recognize all these little things in this challenge pack! Plus, it's a classic game and still holds up really well today

Half-Life is not so bad on guns and gore compered to most modern games.
I think it would be fun to watch Scrapman react to the game and there are so many younger gamers that missed the experience of half-life, and yes it is a old game thats why I would watch it now for nostalgia.
But thats me and my opinion.

@@niklaswikstrom9132 people literally explode into organs and vulgar when you hit them hard enough. If he played black mesa which is much more likely, it goes through themes of war, trauma, etc. HECU soldiers swear and scream and there's a feeling of dread and death that isn't very family friendly.

As someone who has played half life black mesa, this brought back memories. Watching Scrapman discover what is going on is gold. I can't wait for the next instalment
It's crazy how accurate they've done it so far. It's also really fun watching Scrapman fumble through this not knowing anything that's going on.
"I dont think i've played Black Mesa or Half-Life 1" BLASPHEMY!!!! Half Life is one of the pioneers of modern first person shooters, with an absolutely iconic opening tram sequence that gives you an overview of the Black Mesa Facility that the game takes place in. And I got to say, this is a pretty good recreation of the earlier parts of the game.
Considering the limitations of this game to Halflife and Black Mesa? FANTASTIC recreation of those levels.
Very creative getting around the lack of NPCs and yet still having them be there.
Man, I would love to see the continuation of this challenge. I've never played any of the Half-Life games, and I really want to. Getting to see a recreation of the first parts and recognizing things I've already seen from other videos was wild. Looking forward to more stuff like this!

I've been playing Half Life for as long as I can remember, and this map is just like the remake! I'm actually quite surprised!
YES, HE PLAYED IT! and now that I think about it, a half life playthrough would be cool to watch ScrapMan play, although he probably won't sense it's a first person shooter and not a sandbox/creating game.
this looks like a very good recreation of half life! its a bit harder to tell whats what with less details and no dialogue but its really well done.
This is unbelievable accurate to HL1, wow. And kind of fun to see you play it knowing nothing of the original game. Though would also be fun to see you actually play the real game afterwards now imo

This is amazing! I highly recommended playing either Half Life or the remake Black Mesa. Really great. If you can’t play it, watch a lets play of it and see how much is the same within the limits of scrap mechanic. Really great job.

Im pretty sure that they open the doors for you, because in half life 1 you're one of the top prople in the research workers inside the research facility, and the suit in the toilets you saw is what you "put" on in the game later

I think scrapman didn't understand that that is recreation of the first half life.
You should really play Half Life 1 (or Black Mesa, which is a remaster iirc) and look at this again. This is a pretty faithful recreation of the original, but there's more guidance in the original game to follow the story and such. This challenge pack is really cool though!

You should make a video where the smallest creation gets a point, and whoever wins a race or a battle. Awesome gets a point this’ll make you choose between simplicity and offense or speed.

Pretty sweet recreation, though obviously you don't get the story since it's carried by dialogue and on-screen text that you obviously don't get in Scrap Mechanic. What I will say is that the "intestine" is a necktie, which they probably did even though it looked bad because sometimes in the original game you'll hear a scientist say "why do we all have to wear these RIDICULOUS ties!". Also the microwave explosion in the real game is more so the food in the microwave blowing up after you mess with it, though again pretty understandable that they couldn't do that but felt the need to keep the iconic detail

That original Half-Life introduction/ train ride taking like 7 minutes to complete lost me _so hard_. Thank god the game itself made up for it and then some. This challenge nails those first few levels. Catch you a playthrough for funsies.

This is based off the game Half-Life, you can get the actual experience which is much cooler in either Half-Life or Half-Life Souce, both games are made from Valve and are ofc on Steam, I'd loove to see you play them, I'm a fan of the franchise myself.

I can get how the original half life one might be a hard pick up for someone who never played it... But you should really try the black mesa remake. It still holds up to this day and it's a fun play through.

You should watch the trailer for the Black Mesa game, you can see many similarities.
You should definitely play either Half Life 1 OR Black Mesa (Half Life 1 "remake" in the updated Source Engine).
As far as this challenge goes it's definitely recognisable which is a very commendable job done on the authors part.
Imagine a hide and seek map with all these effects
