THANK YOU!!! I just installed my Shark Bite and without your video i would have never got it in. the directions that come with it are done by somebody's kid, not somebody that has installed one.
your videos for c3 corvette are very informative..i am currently restoring 1981 corvette...your videos are fast and to the point..love the trailing arm videos...thanks Ray
Epic!! Was skeptical with this when I saw this on Amazon. Now you’ve made me lean towards it! Thanks bud, can’t wait for more of your vids. You got my Like and Sub
Hey Rick I just installed my Sharkbite with this video, the only part I had trouble with is the plates that go on the trailing arm brackets. They were tight as hell and lining up them 4 Little screws on each side were a bitch! Without this video I never could have pulled this off. THANKS MAN
Those rear plates and the sway bar bolt were my biggest issues as well, A little patience and some persuasion got it done for me. I am glad the vid helped!
Rod ends, brackets, spacers, bearings, bokts, nuts, diff, etc. I think I counted 999,999 parts just for the rear end. Wow! I'll take a straight axle any day. Thanks for sharing! Nice vid!
Great vid, thanks. I put a Shark bite on my candy apple ‘74 roadster a few years ago. An earlier version I think. Because you couldn’t get a socket or a scanner onto some of the bolts because there wasn’t enough room. I lost had to file some meat off the brass sleeves on the rockers to get them in.I have standard trailing arms and my wheels (15x8) just miss from touching by a poofteenth. I paid about double the price because of our $AU and shipping charges but it looks fantastic and apart from a serious slam to the kidneys when I go over a speedhump, handles sooooo much better than stock. Makes it a true IRS. I would’ve loved to have a garage hoist to do the work but $$$$ and my garage isn’t high enough.
Are those van steel single offset t arms? Want to avoid weilding and saw that a t arm can fit with sharkbite, if you could tell me the t arms you have that would be great!
These are stock spec trailing arms. You can go wider if you move the ebrake cables to the top. Ive got a video of that unfortunately you would have to weld a little.
Hello ,how does this shark bite setup handle after installation ? Also what is the Entire cost of parts & labor for this setup? Please let me know? Thank you
@@CamaroRick The rod end itself is rubbing on the trailing arm. I called Tech support and the guy says drill a groove or grind out where it's rubbing, I'm like, Seriously? He says once in a while they do that. WTF? 😂 Im not doing that.
Hi Rick, love your channel, the best installation videos out there for Corvettes, great camera work. One question, I have a 72 and will like to do a complete Shark Bite suspension, does the rear coil over kit brings the rear trailing arms? If not, can the offset trailing arms that are sold as an option to enable wider tires be installed with this kit? Thanks.
It does not come with trailing arms or ta bushings or strut rods. They call for them to be reused or replaced / rebuilt. The offset arms should work with this kit just fine with the rear bearing housing being in stock location and provisions for the stock spring mount holes, sway bar mounting holes etc. It uses stock driveshafts and bearing side outward just like stock so it should work out. Thanks for the compliment and checking out the channel! Good luck with the 72!
Hey Rick great Vid, I'm pulling the trigger on this set up for my 71 and just wanna make sure all my ducks are in a row. I will be replacing trailing arms for 2" offset ones, Is this gonna be ok? Also gonna replace my half shafts. What sway bar and strut rods do i need to use with this set up? Zip corvette has got the kit the cheapest I've seen so far, but if you know where to get all this stuff cheaper please send a link. looking forward to more vids. CHEERS
I would contact the manufacturer of the trailing arms and see what they can tell you. Everything should fit but the open ends might be a little different in shape. If the dimensions of the new t-arms fit a stock sway bar mount and a stock spring mount the critical bolt hole locations will be good. Worse case you might have to trim up the spring box side of the arms to make them fit into the SB bracket possibly with a little welding. It could be mocked up off car and taken to a welding shop if you have to pay someone to modify it for you.
If you have to buy new trailing arms get the ones for the oem sway bar mounts and you will already have the bolt hole location. Ive measured the location on a few different oem trailing arm sway bar holes and they will vary in exact location a bit. You can find a template online if needed check CorvetteForum.com I went off a original set I had laying around. I believe the SD brackets are set up to be in parallel with the trailing arm so you could in theory use a level to match them up and use the top plate as a drill guide. It only uses the one bolt hole for the oem sway bar.
Thanks! Check out ruclips.net/video/aEDji_0XukI/видео.html for running wider tires. You can reposition the emergency brake cable bracket and run at least a 275, maybe more. Also you can run offset trailing arms for even more tire. Im not sure on how wide you can get with just a spacer without taking measurements
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)
is the corvette rear differential strong enough to handle the power of a bbc454 or should I change it out for a ford 9" rear with chevy bolt pattern axles-?
It all depends on how hard the launch is. Ive put LS motors in front of them and they seem to hold up just fine. It has good size gearing. Close to 9" ring gear if I remember correctly I think its about 8.5"
Thanks for checking it out, This is a great setup and will make for a very comfortable ride with the new Viking shocks. Ive used them in the past and really like the adjusters on them. Full soft to full firm on compression and rebound make for a very wide range of comfort and performance and it takes less than a minute to change the shock settings.
Camaro Rick Awesome! Can't wait to get started on mine. I think I'll probably go with a medium spring. I don't really race my car but I still want to have a harder sport suspension. Who knows?
I've added a 598 Brodix aluiiu to my 1978. Still wonder how long rear end will last with 28"x12.5"x15 Mickey Thompson ET drag radials. Love the clean looks of this set up. Great video!
I thought I saw a Daytona in the background of one of your videos. Is that a McBurnie car and what's the story with it? I was building a Z car based one for a long time but she's gone now. That was beautiful to watch!
Thanks for the info.
Can't afford the shark bite, but i'd sure like to one day.
I love the design. Another option Id check out is the Drag Vette suspension. I have not done one yet but its top benefit is near zero camber change.

Any recomendations for an Installer of this kit in San Jose CA. thanks
I have a problem with my Rod ends hitting the trailing arms when I put my half shafts in. Any suggestions
Is it hitting the bolt or the rod end itself? Did your strut rods have sway bar bracket holes to use or did you have to drill them.
