This is a coverstitch machine. It's a specialized serger that can be used to sew flat hems and flat felled seams. It's great because the stitches offer a lot of stretch which is perfect for knits and other stretch fabrics. It can also be used to sew chain stitches.

#sew #sewingmachine - Хобби
I bought my babylock jubilant from then at the height of the pandemic. They were amazing to buy from.
Oh nice, I'm glad you had a positive experience with them as well.
I came across your channel last month. You explain everything in the best way possible. A GREAT thank you from all the people who you helped in their sewing. 🎉
That's awesome. I'm glad to hear it.
Between you and Arkdefo, I’m looking forward to hunkering down this weekend to learn and get over my fears of sewing
You got this!
One of the things I like about my serger is that it will do a coverstitch!
Good on you, that sounds like a fancy machine!
This is the best video I've seen explaining the three different types of machines. Thanks!
I'm glad to hear it. Thanks for watching.
Have heard about cover stitch, but by far the best demonstration & explanation of the differences between the types! Thank you!
oh nice, I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. Thanks for watching.
I remember those bags of grain/feed from my childhood on the farm. When I got into sewing, I got excited when I found out what a chain stitch was because I had used it before. I just had never sewn one. I should use my cover stitch machine more. Thanks for the reminder.
Oh nice! I'm glad to hear it and thanks for watching! Happy sewing.
For years, I've debated on whether or not to purchase a cover stitch machine, because for what it does, I wasn't sure it would be worth the money. Your video has given me a little food for thought. Lastly, it is such a joy to support your channel because your content is exceptional and always very useful.
I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you in helping you get a bit more information on a coverstitch. Thank you for the support as well, it is always much apprecaited.
I bought one a year ago and am still on the fence. If you do a ton of knits, then it’s probably worth it. If not, then I’d say no. It’s got a learning curve I’ve still not mastered. I hate the sound it makes, ugh. So ugly when I’m used to the smooth sound of vintage machines. I’ve tried double needle stitching and can’t master that, apparently, no matter the machine I use.
found you on tiktok a few days ago. love your personality. i have been laughing throughout. very knowledgeable. appreciate you! thank you for explaining things the way you do!!!!
Well thank you for making the hop over here. I'm happy to hear you appreciate my efforts!
Since 99% of what i sew are very stretchy materials like shirt jerseys and punto di roma, buying a coverlock was the best decision ever 🎉 bit pesky when i have to re thread it when changing between modes but still an absolute charm (bernette b48). ❤
Ahhh nice, that sounds like a quality machine you've got. The effort is worth it.
Coverstitch machines are really underrated. I recently picked up a coverstitch machine that also includes a top looper (Brother 3550CV) so I can do actual flatlock seams on activewear. It's a shame the feature isn't available on more machines, it's pretty magical (the only other one I know of is the Janome CoverPro 3000).
Oh snap, that is a wonderful feature indeed to have it on both sides. I hope you're enjoying your machine and getting plenty of use out of it.
Wow. Best review and comparison was so helpful. I’ve been pouring over coverstitch machine info and you just answered all my questions.
oh nice, I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. Thanks for watching.
In school we only had bernina machines from the 80s, so no serger and I learned to sew stretch/serge with a zigzag stitch. Its probably less stable but it works quite well
If it works, it works right?!
@@CorneliusQuiring for sure!
Bought a bernette b48 combi serger/cover. Best money ive ever spent since i wear a lot of steetch stuff
by the way, your serger can sew flat seam too. It's not just the cover stitch.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Cover stitch with two needles is available on a serger and a form of it on a standard machine with twin needles
Please help me figure that out on a singer Xd-5004 ....please!!1
Indeed it is.
Bought a Coverstitch machine last week the Juki MCS1800 with hem guide. And I love it 🥰
Nice! That's a fancy bit of kit you got yourself.
Once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've never seen a machine like that. And I'm glad you showed the threading process, way Cool!
It's a fancy bit of kit indeed! I'm glad I was able to share something new.
Love my cover stitch machine!
I have a serger that will do chain and up to 5 thread serge and you can convert it for the cover stitches all in one. Also I have an old chainstitcher that does strait stitch only, the interesting thing I discovered recently is I can embroider with this one as well. Lots of interesting machines out there.
It sounds like you've got a solid arsenal of machines! That's awesome and I'm happy for you.
Wow! I didn't know these existed!! Thank you! Great video.
Pretty cool indeed.
Excellent information as always :)
Thank you. 🙏🏻
I recently bought a Euphoria coverstitch. I found it gets gnarly if you go over seams, I need to practice dealing with that. Also, if you are hemming certain knits that do not get a good crease with the iron, it can get wonky... especially if you have to stitch on the right side. I found I can stabilize the fabric with water soluble thread (also available at Quality Sewing) on the wrong side, and regular thread in the bobbin. I have a guide with the bobbin thread when doing the hem stitch on the right side, and it falls away when you rinse out the soluble thread.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with myself and others in the comments here. 🙏🏻
Oh wow. That is an amazing machine! Thanks for the overview!
I'm glad to hear it.
Thank you hat man! 🎩
My pleasure, sir.
Excellent videos.
3:07 what?!!!!! few hundred year ago, one would expect to be burned at the stake for such sorcery
It's a marvel indeed! Just don't tell the powers that be :)
Tanks for sharing mr you genius i love it
Thank you. 🙏🏻
Love to see a cover stitch video on your channel. Just got one a few months ago.
Do you ever use the cover stitch in the round for your hems? I’m having trouble with this, but I like the look of it much better because it makes the hem look much cleaner without seeing the side seam on the bottom.
Good question. I just got it very recently and am still learning. I will certainly be doing more videos in the future and just may touch on this subject. I'm glad you like yours.
Oooh you’re getting fancy . That’s a very nice machine. I love a knee lift. I haven’t decided if I really need a cover stitch machine yet. I’ve got my sights on a new serger/overlocker. I know there are combo machines but I have not seen the best reviews on them.
I feel very fancy too :) I am luck to have gotten it. I figured it was best to get a dedicated machine myself as well rather than a combo one. Hopefully you do get the serger and it gets plenty of use.
Very handy information🎉
Thank you. 🙏🏻
Very nice review!
🤠🙏🏻
Eu não conhecia esse tipo de máquina. Obrigado por mostrar
Estou feliz por poder compartilhar algo novo.
My newly rescued machine from the 60's is capable of chain stitch. It's fun, but I haven't had a use for it yet.
Oh nice! It's a good stitch for hems apparently to allow some stretch.
What is that white singer you always use? Looks like a 327 or something....Sounds so nice, and what a solid straight stitch. The cover stitch is the next purchase.. I bought a 4 thread serger thinking that I could get it doing one, but it will not...
I sold that machine a while back. As for the cover stitch, I am really loving it so far. A great tool to have.
@@CorneliusQuiringAmazing! I know we have talked via email, but I wanted to update you that we are getting funding through our programs to hire someone out. I think they pay 80 percent or something... I will be in touch to see if you have some time to help us! Many thanks brother!
I got the Singer Professional 5 about a month ago!
I am quite interested in that "serging/threading" toggle you demonstrate at 10:02, what does that do?
Oh nice! I hope you like your machine. When I put the dial to threading, it engages the air compressor to thread the machine and then putting it back to serge is just the regular cover stitch sewing.
What model is that
vintages machine?
It's a rebadged Neechi 535
Hi my dear brother and the great teacher. Namaste 🙏
Greetings to you too!
Hey, do you make custom clothes; I interested in designing and making cargo pants, but have no clue how to get started. I've got the concept but have no clue how to make a pattern or the pants.
I do. I will consider cargo pants for a future video.
You interested in collaborating on some combat pants?@@CorneliusQuiring

What's the name of the machine? I know it's a cover stitch machine.. But I need the name. Thank you!
It is the Baby Lock Euphoria: www.qualitysewing.com/products/babylock-euphoria-coverlock

The problem with a chain stitch is the problem that has plagued chains thruout history and pre-history. It is only as strong as its weakest link.
Well said :)
