- The Turkish President and Greek Prime Minister have held their first major meeting since they signed a declaration of friendship in Athens at the end of last year. Differences between the two leaders were still apparent but were largely handled tactfully. Our diplomatic correspondent Andrew Hopkins reports from Ankara.

as a turk i wish this goes well. if we actually work together türkiye and hellas would make a crazy good team we can't forget all the stuff that happened between us but we can learn from our mistakes and make a great comeback as genuine allies.
what happened between us was our fault mostly, as Turks we need to acknowledge that not everything we and our government did was good, also Ottoman Empire was not this heavenly empire who failed only because of enemies from all over the world that is a lie. We have a big potential in Turkey and if we are peaceful and respectful to others we can work with almost any country in the world after all we have common place with almost everyone.

Even without the challenges against the Ottomans, European nations would have fought eachother regardless and more often so. It was a militaristic era and we should be happy it's in the past
