Gary Henzler, yes, actors are laborers who reflect what is happening in our society. Tee Tarquin is not blaming anyone other than the actor (s) himself, herself (themselves) for grandstanding and gaslighting. Today's actors have taken advantage of these awards programs to present their own political views as their acceptance speeches or "off the cuff" remarks. Art for the sake of art was always an underlying motive and theme when the Hollywood studios were all powerful. Of course, no one is forcing Tee Tarquin to watch, but if he were already watching and an actor wins an award and steps up to his/her soapbox, Tee Tarquin and many others are going to formulate their opinions on such.
@riv4life618 Natalie was great , however it was Sophia ( who had the disadvantage of staring in a foreign language film ), who deservedly won the Oscar.
How sad is that the first Italian Oscar Winner (Actor/Actress) Anna Magnani was not there to receive the prize personally, she thought she would not win, then the second Italian winner, Sophia, was not there either. (And what a coincidence that initally Anna was cast for the mother role and Sophia was cast as the daughter in the "two women". Then it was decided that Sophia plays the mother, and she did indeed.) Anyway, the third Italian Oscar winner, Roberto, was present to get his prize and what a ceremony. And guess, who gives the prize, Sophia.
Great performances that year. I had the experience of seeing previews at the theater of Geraldine Page in Summer and Smoke and in Sweet Bird of Youth back to back, two totally different characters, showing amazingly her incredible range of abilities.

It's called, La ciociara
Burt what a gorgeous looking man
Sofia, una donna bella , elegante, seria e intelligente, come poche nel suo ambiente di lavoro , vero onore per l' Italia.
This totally BELONGED to Natalie. Bad enough she got jipped on Rebel and Love with The Proper Stranger, but Splendor was arguably her defining performance. And let's face it, as far as acting as well as star quality and character go Sophia had nothing on Natalie. Poor Nat, they should give an honorary Oscar in her honor
lol, youve probably never seen Two Women if you think that Loren `had nothing´ on Wood. Lorens acting was completely convincing with the pain, suffering & enjoyability. One of the most deserving wins ever. Wood was decent at best for hells sake, lol.
@@drstrangelove6558 Just saw this comment and it hurts my eyes. Natalie "decent at best" in what probably is the best coming of age performance of all time? You must be on something good... Sophia was very very good but she doesn't even touch Natalie in a performance that marked many people's life.
Interestingly, of the nominees , Loren, Wood, Paige, Hepburn and Laurie all won or would go on to win an Academy award and/or a Golden Globe award for their acting . Talented nominees that year!

She wasn't about to fly to the states and then be rejected. I think her remaining in Italy showed class.
I love Sophia Loren.
I voted for Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast @ Tiffany's
I hope Sophia Loren wins oscar for Life Ahead n her son wins for best Director!!! And hope there Won't be any mess ups w almost Forgetting her Name when saying all the Nominations like this one!!! Blessings! April 11th 2021, fingers crossed! 🤞🏼🏆🙏🏻💕😷
Natalie wood should have won it. She had 2 great movies in that year.
Back when the Oscars were wonderful and actors just stuck to acting and being gracious instead of grandstanding and gaslighting.
Tee Tarquin, thank you and amen.
Of course, no one is forcing Tee Tarquin to watch, but if he were already watching and an actor wins an award and steps up to his/her soapbox, Tee Tarquin and many others are going to formulate their opinions on such.
tee tarquin These reality shows, that promote PATHOLOGICAL LIARS, such as trump. GRANDSTANDER trump. I imagine he GASLIGHTS his family too.

@riv4life618 Natalie was great , however it was Sophia ( who had the disadvantage of staring in a foreign language film ), who deservedly won the Oscar.
sabine1470 Why is that a disadvantage?
When the Oscars were the Oscars and acting was genuine. Piper Laurie and Geraldine Page were nominated too? Wowww ♥ Wonderful ladies.
Viva Sophia!
Then it was decided that Sophia plays the mother, and she did indeed.)
Anyway, the third Italian Oscar winner, Roberto, was present to get his prize and what a ceremony. And guess, who gives the prize, Sophia.
Anna Magnani was absolutely amazing.
Wonderful superb great actress Sophia Loren
Great performances that year. I had the experience of seeing previews at the theater of Geraldine Page in Summer and Smoke and in Sweet Bird of Youth back to back, two totally different characters, showing amazingly her incredible range of abilities.
Natalie Wood should have won this year for her incrediblely nuanced performance in Splendor in the Grass
Sophia Loren still with us what a blessing two women was hard movie to watch Sophia deserve that Oscar she laid that part out so believable and real l cry right her ❤ much love to her always. 2:39
As much as i like Sophia, this award should have gone to Natalie Wood who was spectacular in "Splendor in the Grass" the big omission here however was Marilyn Monroe in "The Misfists" probably the only movie that she really deserved an Oscar for!!
Natalie’s finest moment. Robbed.
Five powerful performers in five powerful films.
"wherever you are" sounds funny
Sophia is extraordinary.
It was a very competitive line up ... Sophia did not think she was going to win and she did she thought she would probably faint ...
