Loved SMW! Live near Knoxville and was privileged to attend the Super Bowl of Wrestling, Night of the Legends and tons of other events.

Please keep these amazing, informative interviews coming. I was fortunate enough to catch some SMW shows back in the day which rate higher in my "fan heart" more so than any ECW show that I also saw. Candido was the man. 👍

Growing up in Southern Kentucky, I had the privilege of watching some SMW shows as a teenager. Still some of my favorite moments in all of the shows I've been too.

Thank you for this history of SMW. A wrestling promotion truly ahead of its time. Just a few years later they could have rivaled ECW.

From the thumbnail I thought this was a interview about wrestling with the guy from “the royal family” (old British tv show)

I agree with KC so much About the Peak prime time of SMW. It’s not that it was bad in 1992 but they had just started in the fall of 1991 and there were still so many people that Jim wanted to bring in but we’re still under contract with WCW at the time but there wasn’t anything wrong with the shows he was still building his roster up that first 12 months. After Ricky Morton and Tracy Smothers Got out of WCW going into 1993 it really felt like they were hitting on all cylinders. Big because the time he said he thought they were doing the best is my favorite part of SMW. For me personally all of 1993 and the first half of 1994 everything was perfect. It was still good honestly up until about mid 1995 but 1993 in the first half of 1994 with what they had they did everything perfect.

Also nothing against Jackie but her coming in to fight men I just don’t like stuff like that. When they kept saying Sgt Rock was coming in I was hoping it was Don Muraco or 1/2 of the Blade Runners tag team from Florida.Killer Kyle was pushed as a big heel yet would be seen jobbing out in WCW.Tracy Smothers,Buddy Landel & Brad Armstrong among others were jobbing in the big leagues so they made SMW look bad & yes I know Pro Wrestling is pre determined.WWF jobbed out the Southern Rockers as did SMW really.I was a big Windy City Wrestling fan too & those guys would job on AWA tv so to me I lost respect for Windy City. It’s like a guy who hits 30 or 40 homers in AAA ball but goes to the majors & hits 1 or 2 home runs 5 topps. Not impressed

Cornette got in bed with the WWF the very promotion he claimed he couldn’t stand & didn’t want to be like.Jim was too busy with the WWF & didn’t focus as much on SMW.The people didn’t come out either. They filled Knoxville for NWA & WCW despite all the no shows & horrible cards yet for pretty good talent they didn’t come out.I’ve had SMW wrestlers tell me Cornette still owes them $$$$.I guess he’s too busy badmouthing God & Trump
