I grew up in VA and was visiting a relative in Bridgeport CT when I was 15 years old when I heard this song on Kiss 98.7 in 1986. I never heard a rap song on THAT level before it blew my mind way. BDP/KRS 1 is one of the best that ever did it.
I still got Criminal Minded on cassette tape that i bought way back in 1987'' as a 11 year old kid I started collecting tapes in the summer of 1986'' And i still have alot of Oldschool Hip hop tapes that i had every since my childhood way back in the mid late 80s. Criminal Minded is a Classic And the Legendary song The South Bronx has always been 1 of my favorite songs on that album that i like to play when it comes to representing Hip Hop. R.I.P Scott La Rock!😎
"The Bridge" was not even made by Marley Marl to be a single played on the radio, He made it to play at this annual party called Queensbridge day that everyone in the projects attended to celebrate. Mc Shan was just saying how Hip Hop started in Queensbridge back in the days and not that Hip Hop had started in Queens and KRS One knew that. He just used that to start that beef because he did not like Mr. Magic after being told by Mr. Magic that his song was trash when KRS One came to the radio station to play him his demo.
We have Eric B and Rakim lined up for a New Years eve release as it turns out. It was a tough call between "Follow the Leader:" and "Eric B. is President" We went with the latter but may have to do "Follow the Leader" as well. Both so good.
Stuff like this is why I made the pillage to the Mecca being a B~ boy in the Midwest to actually hanging in the Bronx where legends are from getting to know the area the people the culture the music and especially the graffiti art and artist is something that will stick with me for life I’ve been all around and there’s nothing like the nyc in the 80s and 90s I’m grateful to be a part of that scene .

That is some interesting background info on Marley Marl. Thanks for sharing! This adds yet another layer to the history.
@@MicDropAnalysis other than that its a great video !!
Appreciated!
2:30 KRS with Sly & Robbie, Reggae drummer and bassist. If you can think of popular Reggae "riddims" from the 1970s - 2020s, thank them for it.
I had to look them up. They were quite prolific, played with everybody! Thanks for pointing them out!
krs killed shan and queens by himself 😂
Analyze Eric B and Rakim’s “Follow The Leader” there’s a lot of meat on that bone.

Very well done, please keep up this great work! 💯♥️
Thanks!
