There are two different gish builds that are effective with the warlock, either Timekeeper with pact of the chain or Tree with pact of the blade. One of the pact of the chain abilities allows increased movement and immunity to opportunity attacks, which pairs really well with haste. Start as a sellsword, pick up Might of the Iron legion for proficiency in heavy Armor and greatswords, then flawless concentration.
Thank you for the guide. I love trying new classes in playthroughs. Although Warlocks are fan favorites, they all seem to be Eldritch Blast builds. Even in Baldur's Gate 3, it almost the same setup. Gets a little...repetitive for me. But I still love your guides!
🤔the voice acting is mostly terrible, as is the party banter but I find it addictive. Great D&D gameplay. I like the travel map system and the combat is super fun.
25:14 Unless I'm missing something entirely, I wouldn't recommend taking circle of death. The fandom wiki states, "The description states that a pearl of at least 500 gp value is required for this spell - the actual needed ingredient is the Black Pearl Powder. Currently, the powder seems to be impossible to find during the campaign - it's not sold by any vendor, not given as a quest reward and haven't been found as random loot. It might be wholly missing from the campaign, or just have a ridiculously small random chance of randomly dropping." Unless a component pouch can be used in its place or the wiki is simply wrong, do not take it
I noticed Black Pearl Powder on a few vendors my last play through in the Swamp and main town in the DLC. Have not played through the main campaign since the new patch. Thanks for the post. Cheers!
So glad you went with Darkness instead of Scorching Ray. Scorching Ray is such a waste when compared to Eldritch Blast, you gain very little till lvl 5. I really like the synergy with Darkness and that invocation you took. I just picked that invocation for the sight benefits on my human lock. I'll be adding Darkness to that lock like you did to reap that benefit! Thanks for the tip on that.
You are welcome. You are right, casting spells as a warlock seems like a waste. I use my 2 spell slots on either Hex or Hellish Rebuke. There maybe a situation for a counterspell or something else, but some of the other spells are worthless. Cheers!
It's a great combo, the only issue you have at a live table is that you may end up unpopular with other players, whose targeting you've just messed up, unless you've coordinated ahead of time. :P
good video thx it was helpfull. I play a Human Noble Hive Warlock with a bit of melee so 2 times attack with daggers or swords when my Eldritch Blast don't hit and that's the problem. often my Eldritch Blast misses. my Charisma is 20 and i have no idea why i miss so often ;( because when the blasts hit its awesome :) i like the warlock class a lot. is it another stat that takes care of the hit probability ?
If you do Melee, then it would be DEX that controls your chance to hit with a dagger. EB is CHA. With a +5 to hit, + 2 for Proficiency Bonus, you need to roll better than probably an 8 to hit everything. I am assuming you are just getting unlucky on your rolls. Cheers!
@@VaniverseGaming Yes Dex for Melee that i know and Cha for Eldritch Blast but i wondered why the hell i miss so often with Cha 20 even if i am not in close range so without any negativ modis ? i wondered if there is another mebe hidden mechanic behind it that i miss so often ? or mebe the dice gods don't like me ;) thx for the answer ^^
The time warlocks time poison put on all the enemies round 1 with magic missle plus a fire paladin lights up big baddie with a altogether gets the 'death by poison' it beat a pilgrim when at 2nd level at start of lost valley
maybe a weird question, but my warlock dragonborn misses most of its spells and i absolutely dont know why. the stats are focused as suggested on the class slide though. am i missing something? (i also tried with different dragonborn warlocks - same results)
@@VaniverseGaming Ah, i see. Thanks for the the answer, much appreciated. First time diving into DnD related stuff (actually playing it), spent a lot of time on the different party characters creation just to ''screw up" with the warlock :D - but at least now i know how to work around it
Yep you need to use dancing lights or some other spell to create light in order to have normal chance to hit. Now in order to hit consistently you need to have ADVANTAGE on the target. There are lots of spells and abilities that give you advantage like Blind for instance and many others. Make sure you always have light and advantage. It's good to learn all the ways to get advantage google it. Also make sure you start with 16 charisma at least and then instead of taking feats when you level always choose to pump charisma. Another thing make sure you have a cleric or paladin in your party for Bless it gives you 1d4 extra hit dice! If you don't have these things just lower the difficulty because it's going to be hard for spells to hit!
@@froghermit9852 also thanks for helping me out and clarifying :) the base stats were not an issue to be honest. so i actually chose feats. the main issue i had was the combination of light and spells that give me advantage. works absolutely fine now and i am having a (eldritch)blast with this character. also there is a cleric in the party however he mainly used heals due to missing damage throws and being counter attcked for nothing most of the time - with the change in play he can actually focus on buffing more instead of just "running around" healing my warlock :D
in general warlock feels strong(specialy the timeless one for my taste) but....i feel he cannot replace other casters such as wiz or sorc ...he lacks the enchanting ability and some other conveniences...but in general is a fun clss to play
Sad that armor of agathys isn’t in the game. Didn’t seem to emphasize how warlock slots are maxed spell lvl so there’s a bit more emphasis on switching out spells for more powerful versions.
Thanks for pointing that out. However, I like to have my empowered Hellish Rebuke as my go too for this sweet spell slots. At higher levels it hits like a truck. Cheers!
21:41 Sadly casting slow isn't free. Honestly any invocations that allows you to cast a spell at the cost of a spell slot isn't worth it imho. That makes about 1/3 of the invocation not worth it for me. I much prefer having a free spell like Ascendant Step (At will levitation). Betwitching whisper is the worst of all because it's a spell you have in the Warlock spell list and no material only mean you don't need a focus ? Completely useless 99.99% of the time.
Yeah, I miss spoke, it adds it to spell list but costs a spell slot to use which is not great for most spells. But a pack of the blade warlock might benefit from it :) Cheers
Question unrelated to warlocks, but it just crossed my mind. Does the Dragonborn damage stack with the dragon sorcerer buff? Like if both are fire will the damage res and bonuses stack?
Resistance will not stack. If you pick fire for Sorc and dragon born you will only get one resistance. However, yes, the breath weapon from the dragon born should get the damage bonus from the draconic sorc if you have the same ancestry. Hope that answers your question. Cheers!
what's your favorite class so far? from the new ones? i kinda like the monk a little bit more than the rest...it has a rough start but man,,,the mobility is so op

A guaranteed hit is always an awesome thing to have. That's why magic missile is still popular. Taking out a big guy just before he can squash you.
