Easy turns on automatic. Trailer is steering itself, no one at the controls! Yes I go slow 🐢

    Your videos are excellent, with the best heavy-haul content. I'm pleased at having found your channel. I especially like seeing how the self-steering trailer works.

    As usual, you have both outstanding driving and video making skills. Love the details you show and multiple angles. I spent some time in Germany at a CNC machine builder. All the machines went out on steerable trailers. Only the driver so it was all automated.

      The trailer I am using is actually an old girl still getting the job done. The locking bar is to prevent the dolley from turning at highway speed so it actually pulls like a 150 foot long trailer. The bar is activated by the lift axle switch in the cab. Newer trailers do not require this safety mechanism.

      @@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 yes sir, you are welcome. I never seen that before. I’ve seen like a pintle hook setup on either a trail king or a cozad trailer. It has the self steer like what you’re talking about but once you get straightened up you have to get out an manually lock them together.

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407  Год назад +3

      No secret 🤣. The back end of the load is sitting on a turn table. When the load turns it puts hydraulic pressure on the wheels to steer in the opposite direction and swing the back end around.

    Did you mix the pilot car footage with your truck’s engine sound?

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407  2 года назад +3

      I used the audio from the same camera for the entire video. The cameras outside get a lot of wind and background noise and I find it’s not nice. Usually I use the audio from inside the cab so you can listen to some of the radio chatter but the front view camera had a malfunction for this one.

    Why for example at 6:32 do you move to the opposing lane on that generally straight road? Something to do with ground clearance?

    Could you explain how the trailer steering works.

    • @luckybananaheavyhaul3407
      @luckybananaheavyhaul3407  Год назад +2

      The rear part of the load is sitting on a turn table. When the truck turns the turn table also turns which sends hydraulic pressure to the wheels to steer in the opposite direction. When the truck straightens out and the table returns to its start position the pressure on the wheels is relieved.

    I can see where you want the best of the best handling these loads ! Just curious-do you do a simulated emergency stop just to see how you should handle the real thing ?? This driver is making that look easy 👍
