Neal X, what a top man and great chat. Tell us what you think !
Нил просто охуенный гитарист!
Мне очень нравится его музыкальный стиль выразительные аранжировки, вытягивание трелей как у принса. Нил отличный профессионал со своим узнаваемым почерком. Супер респект!
Great comments. Thanks for watching and sharing to Electronic Cafe. MW
I have never thought of these guys as being a real band before, but now I have started listening to & loving them thanks to this great interview.
Thanks Seamus. We appreciate that. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Great band, too far ahead of their time.
100%. Thanks for your comments and for watching the Electronic Cafe. MW
I remember when they came out, it was like a breath of napalm air, it was so exciting. Saw SSS in a pub, playing an excellent set. Spoke to one of the keyboard players about their set up, great gig.
Great comments, thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Beautifully outrageous. THE most exciting entrant into the pantheon of music, EVER! Love, love this group, their sound and image - the whole kit and caboodle. Sputnik Forever! 🤘💕
History really will prove them right. I just hope I am still around to see that happen - all that gloating and 'told you so's'! 🙂😎
Great comments. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Perfect band for the times - SIGUESIGUESPUTNIK - They conquered my brain.
Perfectly put. 100%. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I like your YELLO poster. One of my all time absolute favorite bands. Great channel. You should interview Boris Blank & Dieter Meier. 😎👍 😸👍

Thank you for this video. I don´t think i´ve ever seen an interview with Neal. I have always loved his guitar playing and tone. I still love sSs.
Glad you enjoyed our chat and pleased you found us. Neal was great to speak to. Thanks for comments and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW

thanks Dalida for watching the Electronic Cafe -Andy
In the mid-80’s socialist-communist Hungary to discover Sigue Sigue Sputnik’s music as a 14 years old teen was a breeze of fresh air! They looked crazy and sounded fucking modern. And I still listen to them and I was surprised I found quite recent footage from their gigs. Now living in the UK it’s my mission to see them live. I also introduced their music to my much younger fiancé. Thanks for this interview!
You're welcome. Thanks for your comments and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW

Thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe-Andy
Ok I'm a child of the 80's but somehow missed Sigue Sigue Sputnik. I remember the scene in Ferris Bueller when their song was playin in the back ground. I asked everyone who that band was and no one seemed to know. Now last month RUclips gives me this suggestion for Love Missel. WTF is this? I have been binging Sputnik videos ever since. I feel like a little kid again, finding the best record in the world. I watched this whole video. Neal X... He had the catchiest riffs ive ever heard. Great interview. I will sub just because of this. Thank You!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed and found us. Thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe. MW
Neal's always interesting conversationally, as is the case both here and in the Johnny Thunders biopic 'Looking For Johnny' Always looks dapper too; top man.
Indeed. Neil is / was fantastic. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Ace hearing the track Fantastic Star again.
Oops, Childstar.
thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe -Andy
@@gunt8622 Great track. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Sputnik should go back to the 808 and one synth, space echo on vocals. It was an odd sound at the time, especially in the pop charts. It had a repetitive sound that I never wanted to end. Their First Generation is all of their 4 track versions. It's the one I really go back to. The lo-fi, simpler sound is still the best. Every song sounded exactly the same, which I still find brilliant, and the adverts between each track on Flaunt It, created little jumps of difference.
But their style came from Martin Degville's fantastic visual creativity together with Tony James' concepts.
Great comments. Thanks for sharing and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I got to see SSS in their early days at The Tunnel Club by Blackwall Tunnel.
Amazing! thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe -Andy
Fantastic. I saw them in later days at The Army & Navy in Chelmsford. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Sigue Sigue Sputnik have done many superb songs. Neal X is one of the most underrated guitarists in music. Sputnik inspired us to make our quadruple-album. No Serial Killer.
Great comments. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Amazing. I bought Flaunt It after a friend played it for me in 86. I was 12 and I was hooked. I was 100% convinced that they were from the future. I still listen to them often.
Fantastic, thanks for comments + thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
When was this recorded? Was it really 2022 (as in the title)? So jealous he already has a copy of the RSD version of Marc Almond's "Fantastic Star"!
Well spotted. 2023. Title amended. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe -Andy

Bloody brilliant, great interview & thanks, really enjoyed 😊
Thank you for your kind words and for watching Electronic Cafe. Much appreciated. MW
Thanks so much and for watching the Electronic Cafe- Andy
I get the Sputnik thing, I loved the look, I get what Tony James was into with dub etc but to be fair Suicide had already done it and I think Sputnik just seemed a fairly one dimensional cartoon version of Suicide for the 80s.
Thanks for sharing and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Just saw an interview with Tony James and he referenced Suicide as an influence.
Great guitarist that guy, I always thought.
100%. Totally lovely guy too. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
@@electroniccafemusic Yeah. I was quite surprised. Really enjoyed that, BTW. Thaaaaaanks.
I love Neal. He is like the personification of rock and roll 🍷🍷🍷🍷
Indeed. A top guy. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
totally agree, thank you for watching the Electronic Cafe -Andy
I met Tony James and got his autograph for our lead singer who was a big fan after we had a falling out. I don't think he thought it was original and thought that I was sucking up to him !
Haha. Great story. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
LOL!! Thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe -Andy
My next door neighbour is the sister of Wet Legs bass player! Seriously, he is a really humble fella when he visits her! Ellis Durrant. You couldn't make it up. And Mark King lives three miles away here on the Isle of wight. No B.S. honestly! I 'm in Sandown and he lives in Alverstone.
@@petercarrington948 Have you met Mark King or do you know people who have? He always seems very sincere and down to earth in anything I have read or heard over the years. I recall reading years ago that he once made pizza for a visiting journalist, a very nice thing to do and probably quite rare. I think Level 42 are great.
@@petercarrington948 ...... Clearly, it's "Running in the Family". Boom 💥

Where can I find the interview from whence the picture used for the thumbnail was taken? I've been souring the internet for years trying to find it. During the interview, Neal-X says "I do everything" and Martin corrects him "I, me, Martin Degville stylize the whole group" etc. I've watched it before but for the life of me cannot find it again. Someone please help!
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
My next door neighbour is the sister of the wet leg bassist Ellis Durrant, who is a real nice humble fella when he visits. And Level 42s Marks King lives about three miles away from me. I live in Sandown Isle of Wight and he lives in Alverstone. You couldn't mahe it up !
Haha. Great comments. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe
I loved Sputnik at the time and still do as well as Neal's new band The Montecristos.
In my opinion Sputnik should be above criticism. Flaunt It still sounds exciting today (just not the Spotify version with some of the samples removed) but more importantly..... they were having us all on!!! And we could either enjoy the ride with them or not. Tony wore a Fleece The World t shirt for heaven's sake, they didn't NEED the adverts to pay for the album (the joke was on the critics who actually thought they did) & honestly, do people really believe they had the wherewithal to buy EMI?
It was all a laugh, a fun soundtrack to the summer of 86 & I think they achieved what they all wanted. Martin is still touring his version of the band, Neal has The Montecristos and his Marc Almond gig, I last saw Tony on TV playing Glastonbury alongside Billy Idol, Steve Jones and Paul Cook as Generation Sex.
Most musicians don't get as much as a moment in the sun, they owned their year or two if infamy and are still gigging, fair play.
Great comments. You have hit the nail the head. Thanks for sharing + watching Electronic Cafe. MW
really enjoyed !
Awesome, thank you for sharing!. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Well,it was big in Brazil at time,1983, I think! But then again I just learned that The great MarcAlmond ,( tears run ring around my eyes ) from punk to progressive,I didn't know , concluding that they are awesome 😎👍
Thanks for comments and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Saw Neil in Boston with Marc Almond . I was right at the stage in front of him . What a fun night and great show . Thanks for coming to Boston.
Thanks for sharing and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I saw them in Fat Sams in Dundee when they were promoting Love Missile and they were amazing Fast forward may years and Martin Degville was back in town with his version of the band and its was dire Ray Mayhew had taken up residency in Dundee too and he tried to weezle his way into my little home studio for a free recording session. The prick still owes me 60 quid for the taxi he got there. 😄
The original SSS were so far ahead of the curve. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Этот парень играл в моей любимой группе Sigue Sigue Sputnik! Он стал настоящей звездой👏👏👏Долгих лет и здоровья!
100%. A total star. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
What's Martin think? Haha🤭
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Fascinating. Thanks again. Great guests!
Thank you. Our pleasure! Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
I remember being the first fan but when the album came out what a disappointment but Atari babey was only song anyone would like an the adds in the middle of the songs. Go the Sputnik.
Great Interview Guys
Thank you Graham. Much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
@@electroniccafemusic thanks Mark. I was in the UK for @Numanofficial at Camden recently. Did you get to go?
@@grahamwa65 Great stuff. I didn’t but Andy did 👍🏻
Thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe Graham, hope you enjoyed Numan! - Andy
Love the adverts
thanks
Thanks for watching the Electronic Cafe. MW
Let’s get real. I’m of their generation and spent the period from the mid ‘70s to the mid ‘80s dressing up and going to gigs etc. My favourite band at the time were The Virgin Prunes, whose live show was magically surreal. Sigue sigue were chronically bad and extremely embarrassingly contrived ‘shock’.
Thanks for comments + for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
To right bro, I tried to like it. 👍
That's right no follow-up.
Good interview
Thanks. MW
Didn’t the press slate them for violence at their gigs?
There was one gig that deteriorated into a riot. Neal mentions that. Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
@@electroniccafemusic Ah, ok. I’ve only just started watching. Doh! :)
@@gunt8622 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
what were SSS pioneers of, exactly Andy ?
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
@@electroniccafemusic not going to answer my question ?
pioneers in lectronic rock & roll. Using space-echo effects in tracks. Heavy use of voice-overs. Cyberpunk rock. Cyberpunk fashion-style. Unique lyrics.
@@DiSCOKiNGZ they pioneered fuck all
They had ONE top 10 hit….. I thought they were awful and singer was a terrible choice, very unlikable. Atari baby was alright though..
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Look great for 10 seconds but had no sound....????? 1985 "HA"...!
So where are the well-deserved Jean-Michel Jarre videos finally?!
Thanks for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Sorry but Sigue Sigue Sputnik we’re total shite.
Ok i've put you down as a "maybe". Thanks for comments and for watching Electronic Cafe. MW
Sigue Sigue Sputnik were amazing they still sound futuristic even today. I remember saying to TJ n the Railway Inn in Birmingham and saying "Have you ever considered using lasers in the show?" and Tony said "who'
s going to pay for lasers"? I replied to him "I am Stuart Hall from Lasergraph and who's looking to get paid"! and that is when we started doing lasers for them - amazing music - amazing people!
